STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

(1) being that these are edits of films in the late 1970's and early 1980's, maybe make the graphics reflect that (like the Bolson Media Company logo in the beginning).

(2) design a logo similar to what could be done in the 1980's. Not so much new age-y or cheesy, but what you could see 20th century fox or Warners doing if they did a recreation of their logo.

Ah but these are edits of the 2004 SE, NOT the originals. These are a Special Edition, not a preservation therefore the modern graphics are consistent with the new 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm logos

(3) Adrian is in the UK, so maybe make a play with that (the shape of Britain changes into Adywan, like an accordion).

Erm what? Lol. I don't want to sound dismissive but that's one of the worst ideas I've ever heard, and stupidly cheesy. Ady's nationality isn't relevant to anything and that sounds about as cringeworthy as having the word Adywan form itself out of the Union Jack (British Flag).

HI guys just made the new Logo for ADYWAN as the last one i made for Star Wars Revisited looked a bit dated and wasn't in HD did some sound mixing too this is not the final version so will need input, but dont get too carried away with your input as Im no Genius at this lol.. Thanks and stay Awesome

Loving the intro, but the letters should stay in their position once in place and then the screen should fade out. To have them fly off again is a bit cheesy IMO.

I agree that they probably shouldn't cast shadows and I think any explanations there have been to explain that they aren't actually made of light were only invented to make up for the "error" which was caused by the limitations of filming in the late 70's.

The glowsticks comparison doesn't really cut it as these are physical objects that happen to have light produced inside of them. The lightsaber blade is not really a physical object but rather a beam of energy. Last I heard, a laser doesn't cast a shadow and that's what a lightsaber was originally called - a "laser sword"

Whether it's practical to remove them, I don't know. Adywan is ridiculously extensive in his fixing of errors, but as far as I remember, he didn't remove the shadows.

The only criticism I have of the clip is that Dooku when he walks out of that open doorway has clearly been slowed down significantly. Also I don't think the shot immediately after (where he ignites his saber) looks right in comparison to his pose just before. Don't know if this is avoidable or not as I don't remember how it played in the original or whether you've roto'd him in from somewhere else over a clean background plate at any point. I know there must've been a reason for slowing him down to draw out the drawing of his saber by as much as you needed but nevertheless it was pretty obvious to my eye.

Also, wasn't there an early test you did of the door closing behind him? Are you planning to implement this?

It's only three years later than expected, no biggy really.

Good golly. That seems a bit snippy.

If you're joking I rescind my comment... But, really when joking it helps to have a signature Frink ;) smile. Of course, you have to pay him a quarter when you do it. (Doh!)

If I was being totally serious that would mean it's no biggy really.

Which is exactly what I said so if I'm joking and need to put the winky in it's a biggy which would be a bit snippy.

Which is what you said without a winky.

I'll thank you to stop discussing my winky, sir. =)

Or your lack of a winky....

Here's my reasoning for a single "Revisited Thread"

A discussion about Han Solo's character arc takes place, focused on ESB:R. However, after discussing "I Love You" "I know" for two pages... we move into a discussion of Greedo shooting first and why that's wrong... but, should that conversation carry on for more than half a page... someone pops up (and... per forum rules, rightfully so) and says wrong thread for this discussion... Which means everyone involved in the discussion now has to switch threads to carry on a conversation. They then have to check back to the original thread to check the start of the conversation they were having, before popping back to the new thread to respond.... It makes things difficult.

I think having another "all encompassing" thread with the revisited name would just introduce a problem that's the opposite of the one you're trying to solve - people bringing ideas up in that thread when they'd be more suitable in the official thread for the episode in question. And I think we all know that Ady has his work cut out for him keeping track of suggestions on just one thread, let alone another of a less focused topic.

I also think it would also add confusion to new members about which thread is "official".

Something akin to the "OT Radical Redux" thread (a similar thread has been made for suggestions for ANH:SE) would be acceptable, though of course it wouldn't be limited to just revisited suggestions - which IMO is how it should be. One revisited thread for each episode (not counting the PT:R which I'm assuming will have one thread as it's all being edited simultaneously) Then people will be able to mention any episode they please without the off-topic police chiming in, and thank god for that. ;-)

Anyway, I can't wait for this. It's a good year for 'fan edits' (of a sort) for me as a fan made remake of one of my favourite games of all time (Half Life) is coming out in less than 3 days. And if you guys think TESB:R has taken a while, they started this in 2003!

*Shameless Plug Over* :-)

Ultimately it doesn't matter whether it's AD1 or Adywan. People still know this is your baby. The name has never detracted from the help you've been given or your gratitude for said help as you've always credited people both on the forums and in your credits and text commentary. Changing the name is a humble act, and I applaud you for it, but ultimately it makes very little difference. I did love the old Adywan logo, but I'm sure the new one will be even better based on your greater experience and more professional people coming on board since word has spread.

I'd just be a little concerned about propagating the image of being a professional studio as maybe that will make Lucas's lawyers more likely to come down on you with a cease and desist order.

On the other hand, is this an insanely clever way to make authorship of the project more ambiguous and therefore anonymous? With it being seen (or at least admitted to be) a joint project, they're less likely to be able to come after one person on the basis of their pseudonym as many other people will also be involved (and presumably carry on without him and release it anyway anonymously) and it would protect Ady (or Adrian) from any legal action as he's now absolving himself of sole autership of this project. He's just one player now and therefore couldn't be held responsible for the project continuing and still being released after his (apparent) cessation. ;-)

My understanding of copyright law is limited, but if this is the reason and it's watertight, then fair play. Nicely done.

I really like the name change as anything that adds professionalism is ok in my book when it comes to my viewing experience. As long as it isn't at the expense of this project seeing the light of day, I'll be a happy bunny.

He actually chose two of my most hated moments in those movies... HATE the fireplace scene, but Hayden's line delivery right before the final duel was equally as horrible.

I agree.

He is starting on the original cuts of Episode 2 and 3 soon, so I am looking forward to hearing how he handles everything else...

I must not have got the memo. Where can I hear/watch this?!

I have no freaking idea why, but Hotmail has all of a sudden started throwing all my emails from jay@originaltrilogy.com in my junk folder. And no matter how many settings I fiddle with and mark each one as 'not junk', they still go there.

I will be pissed off if Microsoft make me miss any important updates, or worse, the actual release!

But it's not this what I think only should be corrected in the PT, there are actually two lines from the OT that actually keep me somehow captive:

"When I left you I was but a learner..."

"I must obey my master"

I think there's still room for a twist in EPIII. What if Anakin foresees being chopped up by ObiWan, but instead, when the time comes, they swtich off their sabres and leave each other alive and well...

"You were my brother Anakin, I loved you"

"Don't make me kill you"

And they just leave each other there... then we'll come to realise that it's actually the Emperor himself who punishes his apprentices for not being mercyless and reckless. Palpatine torments Anakin in his office (if you are not planning to use the Vader hommage scene, then Anakin kneeling before Palpatine, with some FX and audio could do) until he gets all burned and ultimately ends up in the suit, and with literally a new dependancy!

Greetings!

That's a fantastic idea, Mithrandir. I don't recall anything like this coming up in the Radical Redux thread (though there is a lot to go through). If it hasn't I'd suggest pasting it there too.

Adding a different vision is also an amazing way to get rid of the existing oh-so-convenient prophetic dream of Padme's "death by pregnancy" which I've always hated as his rationale for turning as it makes turning to the dark side a calculated decision rather than a seduction.

I'm not sold on the Emperor being the one to give Anakin his injuries. I'm more than happy to assume he's suffered these between the events of both trilogies. It even still allows the interpretation of the canon 'molten pit' explanation as Obi Wan and Anakin may have battled at some point between films. It's best these things remain unseen as (as we've found out with what we got) they never do justice to our preconceptions.

With this new four minute clip of awesomeness being about 90mb in size I'm wondering how large the MKV version of the final film is likely to be. I know it's been said that the blu ray will be 25gb but that'll include extra features too. Just thinking ahead about whether the MKV will fit onto a memory stick!

Nerd-fail, doubleofive! Even if it was big enough to fill that, you couldn't put it on as FAT32 has a limit of 4GB for individual files :-p

Here's the cue for a bigger nerd to point out a workaround to this and make me feel small ;-)

For AOTC has anyone attempted to splice the deleted senate scene with the declaration of the formation of the army?

That way the army could be formed at the beginning and Kenobi could be on a troop inspection only to find out they are clones rather than normal recruits.

I accomplished similar without that deleted scene for my work-in-progress edit and posted it here some time ago. Some of my videos have been removed from youtube unfortunately. In my edit, the clone army isn't a secret so the senate scene discussing the army is cut to shreds and put nearer the start of the film. Notice the change of Yoda's line:

Funny how the article bashes blinking Ewoks but fails to mention Ady's cantina scene or blinking Yoda.

Yoda blinks naturally, with a slight face scrunch, etc... Ewoks just do the creepy eye thing.

Though, if you pay attention to the article, it does say that many people would be pissed off if Lucas made the same changes as Ady, which would include those things.

No doubt some would be, but I reckon the majority would be in favour had Lucas used some brains/restraint and stuck to changes like Adywan's (ones needed for corrections/continuity and adding realism) rather than adding unnecessary childish sequences, changes that undermine characters and poo jokes :-)

Of course, this hypothetical sane Lucas would also release the Unaltered Trilogy too, so those who didn't like the changes would have nothing to complain about.
