Star Wars in High Definition: OT clips from "Science of Star Wars" in HD
Time
Personally, if HD-DVD and Blu-Ray give us hassles, I predict that d-vhs may even over-take the market (and let's not forget how long it's already been out, it has proven reliability). If HD-DVD/Blu-Ray does get regional coding (currently HD-DVD does NOT have it, but apparently they're adapting the format to include it) - and IF they can make it stick (which I doubt) - I for one would much rather buy d-vhs, because at least I know I can import legal copies from anywhere I like, at least I know I can go down to JB HI-FI or other speciality stores and ask them to import foreign releases for me without having to worry about incompatibility. Personally I would still prefer a disc format, especially because they can be played in computers, and can include special features, menus and instant scene-access - but when all u want to do is sit down and watch a movie that matters little anyway. I feel I'll just skip hd-dvd and blu-ray and wait for the next consumer-friendly format.

As far as you quoting the rest of my post, you didn't address your lame request for Zion to upload the newsletter for you when the newsletter is free and all you need to do is sign up for it.....why make MORE work for Zion? You didn't address your poking fun at the X0 team by half jokingly accusing one of them of being the leak that let the time code vid out.....that just wasn't smart......
Dude, the spirit of the Z0 project is to share the enjoyment of star wars amung its fans, not to create a fan-base for the X0-project. Of course I like preservation - but u think the x0 project should have fans of it's own??!?

Also I was not poking fun at the X0 team when I posted the famous frame that MeBeJedi works on....you however seem to be....not only that but you have the balls to start accusing members of the X0 team for the leak of the time code vid? Not too smart pal.

Explain your weird post if you would please....
I think you take my post too seriously.

Moth3r was right when he said that the timecode would be useful for people preserving the trilogy - I'm not doing a project like this; so personally I don't understand why other people in my position (ie with no ability to do a preservation) are downloading it. I think if you think about it that shows far less respect for the members here then I show.

As I said, I was trying to be light-hearted, not disrespectful.

which ponders the question: WHO DUNN IT???!?

Was it...... MeBeJedi... or was it Zion... or was it that strange Rikter guy who seems to upload everything? Or maybe it was Lasermon... who else is conceivably involved in this project? Who is the "mysterious" 3rd member? Is it a registered user here??

Oh Zion, may I ask - just out of curiosity for the benefit of those who don't subscribe to your news letter - do you, or could you post a link to your newsletters in this thread when they're released? Well back to roaming for me.

Ages of Luke & Leia

(a) Leia is, in fact, older than Luke, or

(b) remained with Padme for a few years before being adopted by the Organas.
I have a simpler explanation. Leia simply has a memory that isn't real. If she was told (which is entirely plausible) that her mother died when she was 3 or 4 (instead of telling her that her mother died at childbirth of a broken heart) then it's entirely possible, and reasonable that she would believe she has some faint memories of her mum.

What are you going to do with your SE discs?

This is sounding great! We should get this whole thing organized between now and summer.
And make sure to render them unusable before sending them in, or they'd just get resold probably. A scratch line across the disc will do the trick, as will a sharpie. I'm sure there are better methods, like cutting them halfway down with scissors.
I wouldn't do this. I would simply send it back in the condition it came with. It would be illegal to repackage the discs and sell them as new anyway, and scratches can be removed professionally, like your local video 2000 does all the time so that they'll play when rented.

How about donating them to a library or a school or somewhere where some kids who can't afford a 4 Disc DVD set can get them or watch them for free? After school programs, Boys and Girls Clubs, children's hospitals....

I'd rather buy a second set, donate the OT discs from that set and send back two sets of the SSE. I agree with you that there is a lot of bitterness and juvenile posting about these movies and I've posted in other threads supporting LFL on the new release. However, packaging the discs with the SSE discs is ridiculous. This is not intended as an act of spite, or to get a chuckle. George Lucas has said he wants to know if people really want the OOT or the SSE. This is a simple and effective way to answer his question.
You're right btw, it's stupid to donate something you think is utter crap to charity, that's just plain rude!

What a great statement that would make, though. I can see the headlines: "Hundreds of Star Wars fans flood George Lucas' mailbox with Special Edition DVD's". That note would be great to accompany it. "Thank you for the original versions of the Star Wars trilogy. It's a shame I was forced to buy the Special Editions as well. Since they are of no use to me, I am returning them to you.
Hahaha or better still:

"Thank you for the original versions of the Star Wars trilogy. It's a shame I was forced to buy the Special Editions as well. Since you love the Special Editions so much I thought I'd give my copy to you." LOL

Heh I just skipped to and watched the ending of Ep III ... damn I love that ending more and more now. Especially when Anakin bursts into flames after the amazing lightsabre dual - but also when he and the Emperor look out at their Death Star - damn - love it!

OK, the DVDs are coming...so how bad are they going to look?

Some of my DVDs look gorgeous on my computer, some don't. The DVDs I record myself don't look good when played on my computer, for some reason- lots of motion artifacts, etc., but look great when played on my TV (I have an old Apple iMac and an early version of Apple DVD player, BTW).
Yep that's right. When you watch a DVD on a computer it suffers from interpolation because "TV" resolutions aren't supported by standard PC resolutions, whether it's anamorphic or non-anamorphic, PAL or NTSC. Computer monitors have "square" pixels (though in some modes this can be altered - if you do this photos and such will be in their incorrect aspect ratio).

Yes, on a computer, you would have four black bars... well, assuming it's a wide screen, like mine is. That would render it quite tiny on my computer (which is what I primarily use for watching TV and movies when I'm at school).

Some software DVD players have a zoom function that allows you to get rid of the vertical black bars. The Apple DVD Player on Mac OS X (10.4), for example...
Who has widescreen computer monitors anyway? Movies will look better on TV's then on monitors.
