That would set up the cold distance that the other Jedi keep between them and Anakin and make them come across as smart enough to remain constantly vigilant over his progress.

It would put more pressure on Obi-Wan as he is personally responsible for Anakin's training and not the Council.

As it is we don't really see Anakin in the temple between being rejected by the council in TPM and being a fully trained Jedi Knight in ROTS.

 

Something alittle like this Bingo? Dont mind the crude audio edits. It leaves everything at the end of TPM alittle more open to different possibilities about Anakins training, and Obi's thoughts about the Jedi order. More of the reckless Obi-wan, instead of the Jedi robot.

Yeah stuff's been pretty intense around the house the last few weeks. Holidays and alot of work hours. I'm still working on the edit when I can for sure tho. 2 jobs,  a wife and 2 kids takes the main part of my focus. Time left over after that is the time i find to work on the movie when I can.

It'll get there.  For the record, I'm still having alot of fun with this. 8)

I felt the same way about that scene and thought about taking it out.

Without it tho, we really dont see that the Jedi are starting to have second thoughts about Palpatine. At least not untill after Obi mentions that they want Anakin to spy on him.

Without that warning dialogue from Obi,  we go from Palpatine being worth launching a full scale rescue mission to save in the opening of the movie. Then for some reason now the Jedi want him spyed on. Without any prior reasoning.

This scene is letting us know that now Palpatine is gaining to much power for one man to have. And the Jedi dont like it.

Tonight I started messing around with the fancy shot of Bail leaving the planet before his lines about "intercepting the jedi".

Now in the final edit I might just remove all of these parts. Seeing as Bail leaves the planet, and the very next day returns. Or the planet might be removed from this shot. This way Bails ship is just flying thru space. He gives the line about helping the remaining jedi. He later intercepts Obi's transmission, then they head back to courascant.

That's extraordinarily epic.  What did you do?

It's been a few years, but I remember saying to him "Well I guess this would be a bad time to ask to shake your hand." He laughed. Then as we headed to wash our hands there was some small talk here and there.

On a coolness note, I just got a Youtube friend invite from Samuel Witwer. The guy who plays Starkiller in TFU video games. Turns out he grew up only 2 miles away from me, in a Chicago suburb. Small Galaxy I guess.

So that would be my second closest brush to Star Wars royalty. The first being meeting George Lucas at his High School reunion party he was hosting at the Cubby Bear, downtown Chicago. I was DJ'ing in between bands downstairs. He was having a private party upstairs. So my plan was to sneak into there private room sometime during the night to try and meet him. But it turned out that during one of my breaks I bumped into Lucas in the mens room. Talk about a weird place to start a conversation with the man who made Star Wars. He was really cool tho.

I've been able to do some work, but nothing that's going to be posted just yet, sorry. Works been insane still about to head back off to the second job. Looks like another 18 hour work day for me.

It's all good. Always good to toss some ideas around. Who knows what could come of it. 8)

Hmm, I'm sure it would be possible Mith. But I have to agree with Fish's comment. 

 I do see your point of what a shot like that would represent. But having something like that pop up without any explanation as to how Anakin is all of a sudden on a Death Star would just raise more questions. Unless I'm not understanding exactly what your going for.

This was something sent out to teachers back in 2004 to remind them just how much there students wouldnt relate to them. Just think of how many things have gone off the radar in the last 20 years of our lifetime. Pagers, Cassete tapes and a hell of alot of history. Gone, or barely ever talked about.

Even worse when you base this same idea off Star Wars. How many systems could care less about Jedi, or never even know of them in the first place.

I do remember my Dad talking about his mythical journeys to school tho..... Up hill ..... both ways 8)

It's still ugly atm. Teeth and face color need to be tweeked. But it's getting there. The middle section does not have the Palpatine face changed because that part will be in darkness. Still a work in progress 8)

The temple seige scene is still being looked at. I'm sure I can settle on something good.

I'm now back to the Mace Palpatine duel. Just a quick sceen shot of some of the work. Amazing how much some color change and the yellow eyes make him look like he did in ROTJ. Still have to add in the wrinkles to alot of the shots for when the lights flicker on. It's getting there tho.

 Forgot to mention, the hands are not done yet. I've been focusing so much on the face first.

Thanks for the well thought out post, thenihilest. Means alot to me when people who dont post very often (as you stated) take the time to comment on the work I'm doing.

The last 3 days have been a non stop work fest, so atm I'm alittle behind on reading all the ideas over the last 2 pages. I'm going to be getting caught up on things over the next few days, while I'm still working on some special FX shots that are already in the works.

About the Youtube posts. Yeah I do post alot of the work thats been done. In alot of ways it's helped a ton with people providing feedback, or catching mistakes that otherwise would go unnoticed by me. So in a way, it's a necessary evil of the project. But dont worry, there are still alot more things that nobody has seen 8).

Ill be in touch with the thread alittle more tomorrow. After I get some rest. I'm rolling on 3 hours of sleep over the last 2 days atm.

 Well the final plan is to have the Order 66 segment not be a musical number. I'm still collecting all the sound effects from each part of the Jedi being killed. Those scenes will then be placed individualy after Palpatine gives the order. To remind everyone of just how terrible this all is, thru out the rest of the film.

 Each Jedi being killed should be its own little segment in my opinion. This will also help carry the idea that the Empire is methodically taking total control.

Ok I've been looking around and I cant find the post were someone mentioned about they would love to see Anakin force push Mace out the window.

Tonight I started working on that. Keep in mind there has only been about a hour worth of work put into this quick clip. I just layed out a basic quick shot, to see if I could maybe make it work.

It's ugly I know, but give me some time and I'll make this look good. I'll add the closeup of anakins hand doing the force push and add the sound effect before I'm done. And of course Ill fix the background, and roto work.

I think this will look sweet once I give it alot of work.

Ok, the first thing I have to mention is removing the line

"I see through the lies of the Jedi. I do not fear the dark side as you do"

These lines are given as Obi and Anakin are walking. So removing them means you have to explain how they now are standng in completely different spots. Even if I were to keep the footage and remove the audio, you can still see that Anakin is clearly saying something. So as much as I would have removed it, I think it has to stay.

The rest of your ideas I'll look over when I get some time to sit down and really look the scene over.

And I dont mind the large posts at all. 8)
