3rd attempt at the escape pod. More lit up buttons will be masked to show thru shortly. The idea I'm shooting for is keeping the inside of the pod, alittle bit of a mystery. Let me know if you guys have any ideas, to help this along.

Edit. hmm it seems that youtube isnt doing the darker parts justice. The actual file dont look quite as dark. Hope it dont come across and to crappy looking to you all.

Revenge Of The Cut - Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (* unfinished project *)
Time

I like what Cutter is attempting here. It's a no holds barred, if it sucks, it's out version, and I can respect that, cause that seems to be the reason for his edit.

I also can understand where rvpee is coming from. This is a major part of the movie. Palaptine and Maces saber fight is 13 seconds long on screen. And The time from when Anakin walks into the room to him cutting off Maces hand runs around 24 seconds. That is really fast, but If Cutters cool with that, I'm cool with that.

This edit will be a great version for people who've seen and know the movies. But I feel that anyone watching this version without having first watched the original would be like. "Ok, wait a second, well the hell is going on? I cant keep up.

But it seems that Cutter is doing this for the fans. So good job, and I look forward to seeing the final cut, cause I'm a Star Wars fan, who knows the movie inside and out 8)

Cs5 is far better, I really cant explain how much better in words.

The roto tool is amazing also, tho I'm still new to it. I'm sure there are a few tricks about it that im missing. As with everything else I've used in AE overall, the more I use it the better the results.

I'm always scanning for more tutorials, picking up new info along the way.

Things are going good. Had a major setback, but it was one that I brought on myself.

After upgrading my computer, and adding a new Hard drive so I could then install windows 7 64 bit and have access to After effects CS5. All my files were saved and I continued to edit the movie. The problem was that running with my old hard drive acting as a slave pretty much slowed down Sony Vegas to a stand still for some reason.

After balancing out the pros and cons, I decided to save my rips to an external hard drive. Reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 7. And restart the movie from scratch. Seeing as how I was planning to redo all the special effects anyways. So pretty much I restarted the edit.

The plus of all this is that now Vegas moves at an amazing faster pace. And I'm able to better sort out all my files, which means more editing, and less looking for files on a old hard drive.

At the pace that I was going before restarting the project, rendering a 1 min clip in Vegas would take up to 30 min due to the fact that Vegas would have to search for the files it needed on the slave hard drive. Now that 1 min clip renders in just over a min. So in the long run. Restarting from scratch will mean that this edit will be completed faster now. And Ill be able to stay focused on each scene.

Before wiping the project. I would be like "Ok I want to work on this shot tonight. So let me render a clip so that I can work on it in After Effects." By the time the clip would finish. I was no longer wanting to do the work.

Now I can render what I want to work on in 1-2 min, and right away get started on doing he effects shots. So for me, I'm excited.

Currently I have the movies cuts 90% complete. (Thats just the cuts, not special effects.) I still have a few things that may change cut wise depending on what special effects I can pull off. Special effects shots I started working on late last week, and there going along well. I learned alot the first time, and now I have better tools to do the job faster. As I do the effects shots I'll be sending preview clips to Angel for his blessings and for his good eye at picking out bad spots.

So in short, it'll get there. I just want to make sure it's the best damn Episode 3 edit ever.

It's going, but not as fast as I would like. When I work on something with that many changes, I like to do it over a long period of sitting time. So I dont really do work on that unless I know I have a few hours to focus on it. It's getting there for sure tho. I keep moving stuff around and playing with the lighting, and I'm still tossing around alot of sound effect ideas. More will come soon. 8)

Still working on this bad boy. Day job has kept me busy tho. Still getting used to AE CS5 also.

Been playing around with some of the effects I already have done, trying to improve them. Even some of the effects I decided wouldnt make the final cut. Just to get some practice. Added some Sith skin tone to the "Anakin eyes" scene that wont be in the final version. Maybe I'll add a bonus section to the DvD with all the stuff that didnt make it.

Ill be working on the scene tonight. Adding back in some dialogue, and trying to better tune when the room is light and dark. I have the whole duel done in  the dark. So now its pretty much down to figuring out what parts to darken and lighten, and they best way to present that effect, so that it appears as real as possible.

And to Bingo, the end result will be Palpatine shutting down the lights with the force. I agree it will work better that way. I redid that part having palpatine hit the button on the chair, cause I was going to try to have the whole duel in the dark. It didnt work so well. I just never changed it back to how it was before. Thanks for the input, always welcome.

Been a busy week. Took a bit for me to get back into the grove of working on the movie.

This is just a quick clip showing the progress so far. Nothing in this is even close to what I plan on the final cut looking like.  BTW I know that Maces saber turns back to purple at the end. I also still plan to tinker around with when the lights go on and off. More to come later in the week, as I have more time to work on this.

I gave it a shot trying to remove the color from the Troopers after the Empire is up and running . Didnt work out as well as I planned. But that was a long time ago, and I've learned alot, so I'll try it again before I'm done.

BTW The chapter 7 clip as the troopers are marching. I added those marching sound FX. So its as easy as just moving them around til they match right. I might also replace it, if I come across a better marching sound.

As I posted before the music for that scene is changing. The problem with timing the music to the footsteps is on the overhead shot, cause it depends on what trooper your watching. Alot of them step at slightly different times.  Slowing the footage is not always a great idea. Tryed to stretch that scene out already and even alittle bit of slowing is very obvious. Sleep well knowing that I will do my best to make it as good as possible before I release it tho 8)

***BTW since Dip quoted the link to my chapter 7 clip without the disclaimer I wrote about it. That was done 6 months ago. Just about everything in it has been changed. I just tossed it up cause someone mentioned about having the Imperial march in the Jedi temple scene. It was just to show that I was already going that route. I would have posted a updated version of the scene, but I dont have the home computer back up and running yet.

That clip in no way reflects where the edit is currently. I just dont want anyone to look at that thinking it's the final product. It's way better than the posted clip.**

Hopefully only a few days. Got a friend who works at tiger direct working on it atm. Hes doing all the tech stuff for free. Im just paying for the new motherboard. So I cant complain for waiting, cause its saving me some cash. He's also gonna upgrade my sound and video card, with whatever he can get ahold of. Then he'll have to install windows 7 64 bit, and transfer all my data over. Could be a few days, maybe a week. He's doing me a huge favor as my computer was getting to be rather outdated anyways. So I have no problem waiting it out. It just hurts not be able to work on the edit. Cause I'm hooked.

I hope we get the final flickering lights/darkness soon!  I've been way too excited waiting to see those sabers in darkness. lol

I'm more upset about it than anyone, cause I was half way thru working on it, when the Motherboard crapped out. And I was loving what was coming out. But now I'm stuck waiting to work on this, and it's killing me.

Alot of good might come out of this, cause I might have found a way to change up to windows 7 64 bit in the process. So it may be possible that I can switch up to After effects CS5 and still keep all the work I've done so far. Which will make alot more possible for me. Special effect wise.

Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)
Time

During my time with my motherboard being down, I've spent a few nights writing up a outline or how I would attempt a edit such as this. It's always tossed around in my head as MrBenja mentioned the concept to me awhile ago. I'm about half way thru a rough draft write up that I think could be possible to pull off. It's alot more daring then I would have imagined, but thats the style I like to go with. Once I get my motherboard back up and running, and finish up my "Reign of the Dark Side" edit. This might be something I would be interested in doing before I move onto the rest of the movies following the outline of my episode 3 vision.

If I was to attempt this, It would no way be connected with the rest of the movies I plan to release. But as a stand alone story.

So far what I've come up with on paper comes no where near what was already being attempted by other editers. So If anyone were to pick up this project based on whats been already layed down by others in this thread. It would still be a major difference from what I'm going to try to attempt.
