I don't think anyone's released a color-corrected version yet but if you know what a LUT is and how to use it (I don't) you can apply bttfbrasilfan's work to the Grindhouse version yourself.  Me, personally, I just compensate a tiny bit by adjusting the hue in VLC and it looks much better.  Not perfect, but far less red.

I love .gif corruptions.

I think you're all misinterpreting the thread a little.  Spaced Ranger obviously upped his rhetoric and distaste for the change for laughs.

Anyway, this is a neat tutorial and I definitely think - in both cases, ironically - Lasseter went overboard.  

Man, it sounds like he hasn't done inventory on this. Totally understandable, but I wish he would be willing to split it up into parts -- I'm sure I'd love some of that stuff, but 5000 tapes is understandably way too much for one person.

It's a conversion, they probably shot on film as promised and then decided in post they wanted to do this. :/

For the record I'm annoyed as well, but not "f*ck you" annoyed.  So much for seeing this at the theatre I've seen them all in... they'll definitely be doing 3D.

Conversions don't make as much money.  People seem to know the difference between native 3D and postproduction 3D.  
I really hope the Village Theatre in Westwood has 2D showings, too.

Fine movies, sure, but the animation doesn't speak to me in any real way.  I wouldn't watch them just for that.  I might watch Sleeping Beauty just to see its gorgeous backgrounds.

Pre-CAPS system (google it), I actually find many of their movies visually dull. Sure, they're fine stories, but there's nothing special about how the animation works.  Not for me at least... especially when they stopped cleaning the lineart and you began to see the pencil markings/ink/etc. in a way that makes it look very rough (I think that started with 101 Dalmatians and went all the way thru Great Mouse Detective).  

Though in all fairness I had forgotten about Fantasia when I said that.

^Not everyone is mature enough to have that response, and I for one would love having less trolls to deal with.

And this is the only Disney movie I think has truly beautiful animation.  Shame... I mean, they're not even aligned with each other according to the rules of symmetry.

That's why I have little sympathy for you.  I don't dislike you, but your actions confuse me.  You should just let some things go.  You'd be happier and not fretting over one small, niche Moronathon of a forum on the internet.

Neither Warbler's Place nor Psycho_Dayv's forum went anywhere.  I've seen separate boards for off-topic sections in action, and it doesn't work.  I don't know if it's laziness or what, but they never seem to take off - or have the same steam - as the original board.

From what little I can find of Williamson just based on a google images perusal I too enjoy his work.  It's super pulpy, which is something Star Wars has always needed more of.
