All that happens is that I can not follow many of the conversations in a thread because part of it is blocked.

So basically, if you don't want to interact with someone then no one should be allowed to either just because it is inconvenient to you.

That's what I seem to be getting from this thread. =/

I just think trolls need to be dealt with.

And your definition of a "troll" seem to be "someone who is inconvenient to me".

While I agree with you about some of Warbler's reasons, you sir are indeed a troll.  Get outta here.

I say a moderator for off topic only should be added.   I nominate Frink!

That would be making a pyromaniac the chief of firefighters.

Or we might as well give the position to Inquisitor Ender.

And this is WHY people would like to see light moderation happen here.

Absolutely agreed.  It's snide remarks like imperialscum's here that make it less fun.

Perhaps it was unwise to let off-topic go unmoderated. The other parts of the forum remain moderated, but they haven't become clones of TFN; everyone's still able to speak their minds, just with (relatively) clean tongues and decency.

Letting this part of the forum go -- quite literally, it seems -- has only really served to give the less conscientious posters license to act like juvenile assholes.

I absolutely agree.  The amount of circlejerkery here is definitely annoying.  Even if it were to remain with a light touch, some moderation would be a great idea.

I really like "Meaning of Life". I'd give it 3.5 balls out of 4. I've only watched it once though, and I was stoned, but I laughed my balls off.

There's too many stoners, drunks, drunk stoners, and stoned drunks on this board. =P

Man if you haven't seen the original Star Wars stoned, you just simply have not lived.

Go out, buy some quality reefer, pop in Harmy's ANH, and prepare yourself.

Yeah, you'll be asleep by the cantina :P

Seriously, I don't think I've made it through the entire movie while I was high unless it was a marathon or something.

The USC film school revolution

"not the badass he so desperately craved people to see him as."

Yeah, Millus can come off as a war-crazy nutjob.  You can see it even as far back as in Hearts of Darkness, that documentary from the 90s about Apocalypse Now.  He interpreted the film in a completely different way than everyone else... which explains, of course, why Coppola refused to use his ending.

I have no real thoughts on your original post other than silent agreement.  Sure, they broke from the Hollywood narrative, but not the oft-neglected story that precedes it of them as a bunch of white males coming from relatively affluent backgrounds.

Socioeconomic privilege is relevant to everything, even the arts.

Nothing Matters Anymore. Climate Change/Global Warming Will Drive Humans To Extinction In A Matter Of Decades

Bebop transcends the label of anime.  It's just good TV.  It manages to be a space western without relying only on tropes belonging to those kinds of shows, and I might even say it does at least one episode for each possible genre classification.  That's what happens when a show is character-based, they can go outside of your average barriers.

DID SOMEONE SAY ANIME?

I like the original Mobile Suit Gundam, though its visual style does get tiresome (perhaps too anime).  I'm about to start on Zeta which I'm excited to check out as I've been told it's the best.  I'm also a big, big, big fan of Cowboy Bebop.

I'm glad this thread got derailed so quickly :P

actual lol.  And on a related note, my apologies for going after you earlier. It seemed to me at first that you were continuing an old beef with Frink, but provided it's all in good fun, it doesn't matter.

my ESB Grindhouse Fan Colour Correction (Released)

This looks nice!

Has anyone tried just using colormatch or something similar to match it to the despecialized colors? You would obviously have some issues with the contrast because the bluray source has some black crush, but it"s worth a shot.

This release with quality colors would honestly be a great version of ESB.

My limited understanding is that those filters only work well if the sources share an aspect ratio and are stabilized; the Grindhouse edition has a lot of frame jitter and probably a different AR than the Despecialized.  It could be done but it would take more work than it sounds.

The official "Who is going to Star Wars Celebration, Anaheim California, April 2015?" thread

Interested in this "online uproar" you speak of, SilverWook.  What's the reaction to this news on the whole?  I'm generally indifferent.

Anyway, I maintain my previous stance that I won't be going but would definitely love to grab a beer or something with fellow OT-ers in Anaheim.
