Extremely Silly Website: digital-fanedits.com (Was: Extremely Silly Article About Star Wars Prologue On DVD)

We get a flashback to a decent, if confusing abridged TPM. To avoid Anakin saying 'are you an angel' the conversation starts even MORE awkwardly, with Padme out of nowhere saying "I don't understand this place" to a kid she's never met.

That's actually an interesting idea. It might highlight Padme's general naivete by starting it this way.. I'm not sure how well the conversation could end up flowing even in the best-case scenario though.

Take the twooffour Pledge (Pledge is Suspended - See Post #121) (At one time thread was about DOGS WEARING HATS)

and as soon as he was banned, or disappeared, everyone still kept talking about him and suspecting him to be behind any suspicious new troll or sock that crops up..

Breaking the pledge to... agree... with Twooffour. We're guilty of this by, like, three times. Countless times we've accused new members of being Zigfried or the like (although with JediTray's alternates it was the truth.)

I don't get it. I saw Inception, I played Fallout, and I'm still being ignored.

Seriously though, I think the reason I'm still being ignored is ridiculous.

As much as I agree I think the time to bring it up has passed and you're just rubbing salt in old wounds.

OT Deleted Scenes Discussion

Man, watching the cartoon you'd never thing Mark Hamill would end up to be such a great voice actor. More importantly, I'm glad they removed the blow-up-Endor subplot, mainly because it mirrors Star Wars even more than having a second Death Star does. It make it just a little too obvious.

Also the problems with the Luke-Leia scene in ESB lie in the fact that it mentions the Wampa attacks on the base. For those to work entirely it would require serious editing of some sort, though I must say I did like the dynamic between Hamill and Fisher in that scene.

Did anyone else catch the new mumbled line from Obi Wan about Midichlorians in "Jedi"? When he's talking to Luke on Dagobah?

Please tell me you're joking.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Back the fun truck the fuck up a second.
Someone expand on this. I have to know if this is true.

Yeah, I need to hear about this...

Carrie Fisher's "Wishful Drinking" on DVD
Time

I had a chance to see this at the Geffen playhouse while she was previewing it there a number of years ago; sadly, I did not go, although at the time God knows if my parents would have approved of the content! I have to say, I think she should have started making fun of her life a lot sooner (as weird as this sounds.) She's a really funny woman and probably could have made a bit more out of this routine. Of course, she's only more recently - say the past 5 or 6 years - been in a good mental state (and thank goodness for that,) so who knows how it could have gone beforehand.

Saw it on HBO, loved it. If this was an "off" performance I'd probably have died of laughter seeing a real one

Redesign the site?
Time

Moth3r, could you possibly send Jay this way? It would only make sense to update now, especially given how the forums seem to be attracting more attention than the petition at the moment. Hell, if it's just content you guys need, I'd be happy to write up a FAQ. Perhaps user-submitted articles similar to those Zombie's written for his site would also be a plus?

Again, though, the 2004 site is a great reference as to how we should state our mission; how we elaborate could be discussed differently now, of course.

ET Blu-Ray to only feature theatrical edition

Spielberg just asked us if we would be upset if the ET Blu-ray only had the 1982 version. After our loud "No!", he said, "So be it!"

I don't know how to link to specific tweets but here's his account.
Neat! It's of no consequence to me because it's my favorite movie of all time in either edition (I bawl my EYES out...) but it's cool that he just kinda put it out there like that. Can't wait! I know this'll make purists pretty happy.

Episode I was shot on 35mm, but here it's been fairly strongly filtered so that grain is scrubbed out, giving a more video-ish appearance. I'm assuming this was probably done to give a sense of visual continuity to the prequels, but it frequently results in softened textures and smeared over detail. The application of DNR isn't nearly as egregious as it was in the notorious Predator re-release, but the image does look a bit off at times, with faces taking on that distinctly smooth, waxy quality that always accompanies excessive filtering.

Wow, the DNR must be pretty bad for this website to mention it... and that's a bummer, I actually LIKE TPM! Shame we'll never get a truly high-quality version since the previous HD tv airing rips contain digital compression...
