4K restoration on Star Wars

At least that Manos cover is better than any DVD/Blu cover that any Star Wars film will ever have. This steelbook release is the most pointless release of SW on physical media in a decade. They should of put the originals in to justify this release, but I guess Disney is going to drag us over the coals again just like Lucasfilm before.

go away

“On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer” - Satoru Iwata, GDC 2005

Today, Nintendo confirmed that we lost Satoru Iwata yesterday.

Wow. I'm a die-hard Nintendo guy. I pretty much always have been. Iwata was the kind of public figure that made me proud to say so. Even if he didn't produce the video segments he was in, he always seemed to understand his core audience. There was something warm about his presence in Nintendo Direct conferences. He was a staple of their PR machine. It always felt like Iwata had keeping the fans happy in mind, especially with all the fun involved in those videos. He's been closer to center stage the past few years, and even though I never knew the guy, he came across as so genuine I almost felt like I did.. Rest in peace, sir. I only hope your successor will have as much fun with his/her job.

Info: Dragon Ball Z, and the Dragon Ball series in general...

Yes but those DVDs are very, very poorly encoded. Macroblocking everywhere to the point that it's not an even trade and you're actually better off with any of the 16:9 sources available (I find FUNi's movie blu-rays generally good quality if you fiddle with the colors to bring out some crushed blacks.)

If Madman ever did R4 DVDs of the movies in 4:3 it might be worth looking into those but I'm not certain, and other than menus and the obligatory PAL conversion they pretty much did straight ports of what they were given so it might not even make a difference.

Well, I can get married no matter where I live in the USA now. That's pretty dope. But what has to be remembered is that changing laws =/= changing minds. We're still fighting the Civil Rights Movement, and we'll be fighting the same Pride movement for years to come.

I pride myself on coming from an area where I've never had to worry about what people think of me for this anyway, but this is still a huge step for everyone like me in the USA.

USA! USA! USA!

How odd. Have you considered trying an earlier version? 1.6 is almost 10 years old now, and it was always very stable on my mid-end laptop from about that year. It didn't run OOT so well, but Majora's Mask I never had issue with.

I like Project64 the best mostly for its native widescreen support thanks to Jabo's Direct3D. Playing Zelda in 16:9 without having to stretch it is nothing short of amazing.

Hey there Macsvoltage, welcome to the forums. Unfortunately, direct links are off-limits on this website. You can, of course, just say where to look for your work instead and let people do their google-fu.

I admit some of these sound interesting, but without any information about your changes present here, you probably wont' get much attention. People like to have a preview of what's in an edit, even if it's only a quick block of text describing your goals.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

Insane how weak they made him in canon, the idea of Vader not snapping Kanan's neck immediately just seems ill-fitting.

Ignoring the counterpoint already presented (which equally makes sense), I kind of like this. One of my problems with the prequels was how overpowered the characters seemed. It wasn't just how flashy the fights were - it was the sheer amount of power. I like a Vader who's not, in fact, THE MOST POWERFUL JEDI EVER. I prefer one who's just normally good at what he does. Remember, Vader appeared in Splinter of the Mind's Eye and Luke & Leia were able to escape with help... not to mention Han Solo took him by surprise in Episode 4.

Probably should've gone in "random star wars thoughts", but whatever. it's almost 1 am.

Negative One and TeamNegativeOne

And having said that, I think it's quite possible that he's posting with the team account lately, without using his unique style. The team account has been posting a lot lately outside of their project threads (see the 4k thread, for just one example), with a lot of negativity, and a lot of the "we" bullshit that we all know actually means "I."

It's also worth noting that this is exactly how -1 reacted to anyone suggesting he release Blu-Ray versions of any of his previous contributions rather than the HD-DVD ones he adamantly insisted on for years after the format was declared dead.
