Info: Weird Defect Found - DJ's 1985 CAV P&S preservation
Time

Pretty sure that's glue. You see a lot of stuff like that in "before -> after" shots with restorations derived from prints rather than the negatives. Sometimes if an older (unremastered) anime is imported from Japan the tape masters/etc. that are sent over were further modified by the domestic release company and zoomed in in order to hide such defects.

Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery - Sanitized (Released)

There are still network TV cuts out there (somewhere) if you're interested in looking for some already done, easy to swap in/out edits. Might be worth the time to at least see if you agree with some of them.

I look forward to this. The movies are generally well-rounded but could use a little less of the Mike Myers touch.

I agree that the original colors are the best, but I can happily watch the film with the 3D BD's colors.  I like it as anew look, whereas I can't stand the previous color timing: it's far too red.

Where do I find the LD rip?

1. Ironically I think that's the reason they handle their classic films the way they do. Unfortunately, it only works in some cases.

2. You have a PM good sir.

3. If anyone's working on extracting just the left-eye stream let me know! I'd do it myself but I don't have a BR drive.

I thought that 3D BDs would downscale automatically on non-3D TVs, is that not the case? Because I'm pretty convinced I need to upgrade from my old VHS copy of this film, accuracy be damned. I can stand the BD pallet but the odd murkiness of the 2D edition is just too much for me!

Of course, that said, if Andrea is indeed to capture B&TB in its OAR that will be my choice version.

Man, it's such a shame that Disney's home catalog is so hit and miss. I feel like there's several movies they've done right (I actually think Snow White looks right), the Pinocchio blu looks flat in a way these other shots don't. It's not quite as bad as Cinderella, but that's bad enough that it could easily be corrected. He touches on what to consider their releases here and often in other "Few Words About" threads.

According to Robert Harris Disney considers the versions they're putting out revisions and that they do have separate masters somewhere. Whether we'll ever see them remains in the dark.

Gun control would be too little too late. At this point they're already in such high circulation that getting an illegal one - even after some sort of law got passed - could NEVER be too hard for the people we already try and keep them from - gangs, felons, etc. It'd just create the "forbidden fruit" aspect in our society, I think. See how many people fucking hoarded twinkies? Think about how it'll work with guns.

Plus, there's no way there could be an efficient model on the federal level. Especially not now.
