All Things Star Trek
Time

Watched episode 2 of Continues, which we've christened Vic Trek in my group of friends.  I think the script was better on this one for sure!  However, the endings to all these episodes reek of post-TNG writing.

Vic is getting better as Kirk, and the rest of the cast is doing well too.  The only problem is Lou Ferigno, like Michael Forrest before him, steals the scene whenever he's on.  That's what happens when you cast pros with fans, I guess.

Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?

I don't know why Lucas didn't just reshoot the shot so that Han shoots second.

All He would have had to do was have a replica of the cantina set built, have a few Han/Greedo costumes made/taken out of storage, and then hired a guy who could have reasonably stood in for a young Harrison Ford to play Han (he could have always cut-and-pasted Ford's head onto the guy's body later, anyway). And then, during the reshoot, the guy could have made a realistic dodge away from Greedo's blasterfire, and then shot the scaly green bastard from under/over the table in self-defense.

I honestly don't know why Lucas didn't just do it -- and many of the other changes -- this way. It would have cost a couple thousand bucks or so to do (I can't see it costing much more than digitally twisting Han's body around in the original footage) and it would have look far better and seamless.

Lucas seems to like half-assing everything he does, though, even when he had the millions to do better.

Sometimes the things you say just make no sense to me.  This is one of them.

kk650's Star Wars Saga: Regraded and Semi-Specialized (Released)

I guess my only complaint left would be the lightsabers; otherwise, this might just be the perfect version for me.  There's not much you can do about those with basic color correction.  I'd recommend using the Despecialized Edition for those scenes, but honestly that's down to preference -- and I don't know how Harmy would feel about that.

By the way, these menu issues are not what was holding this back for so long, in case some of you have missed it we are also doing a lot of NON Star Wars releases, plus we just went through the Holidays which means a lot of non working on projects Family stuff, plus 2 of the members of our Team recently got married, so just hang tight these are coming!

Ah, my mistake.  For those curious the thread for Team_Blu's other projects is over here.

Also, congratulations to those two members!

Zombie84 is the webmaster of Save Star Wars as well as the author of the book The Secret History of Star Wars which details the production of the original 1977 film.  His posts tend to be incredibly insightful and thought-out.  Unfortunately, he has a habit of disappearing.

To be honest, I figure it was more along the lines of a "good enough" approval from Lucas rather than a glowing appraisal aside from his additional changes for this set.  For someone who tinkers with them so often, he claims to not watch the movies too frequently - I believe every five years is his estimate.

Phobias That wreck your enjoyment of Films, Television and Video Games.

Well, The Shawshank Redemption is less about the wrongful accusation and more about his life in prison and eventual escape.  I classify that as exposition, so it doesn't bother me too much.  Had something like that come up in the middle of the film and its plot dealt with his redemption/the repercussions of this, then I would have problems with it.

Great film, of course.

Well.... I guess it isn't a phobia as much as an extreme distaste, but whenever the protagonist of a film gets wrongfully blamed for something he didn't do - and you have to watch the repercussions play out - I get incredibly uncomfortable.  If it's some sort of exposition that happened before the film takes place, however, I'm okay with it.

I can separate personal feelings on his actions from appreciating him as an artist provided he never gets a cent of my money.  Keep in mind, of course, I'm not entirely convinced he molested Dylan -- after all, this sudden resurgence of it as a hot topic reeks of a PR campaign by the Farrows.  However, I'm more inclined to believe he did it.
