That. Looks. FANTASTIC.
That. Looks. FANTASTIC.
Harold Ramis at 69. He will definitely be missed.
I read about half of these last two pages thinking that might have just been an extended gag. Had to admit.

We don't see him die at the start of BTTF, we only see him shot. The vest reveal takes place after Marty has gone back to 1955 and after he's returned from 1955 LOL. It's possible that the Doc had the vest all along and the whole thing is just a closed time loop.
The Lone Pine Mall wants a word with you.
I love knowing exactly where this mall is. For some reason I still get really excited about things like this even though I've grown up in LA.
Not necessarily. Dragonball Z is mistakenly cropped here in the US, and the in-house remaster by FUNimation reveals a little extra information on the side. It's nowhere near enough to warrant the decision, but it's there. Looks like open-matte framing often is the same.
For a more relevant version, see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Regardless of what version you choose, something's always cropped.
Cut Warb some slack, he's a Philadelphia fan. Those two things always mix in anger and disappointment. :P

Just remember, bkev, if all else fails use fire.
^Well played.
On the point of "participation": I was a member of the blog and I recall posting on many of the pieces. However, given my lack of expertise, there's not really much I could offer other than a "looks good" or "WHOA HOW'D YOU DO THAT?" comment here and there. Perhaps I'm only speaking for myself, but there are times when I avoid commenting with the reasoning that I don't really know what I have to offer you guys that you don't already know yourselves.
Much love to you all for the work you're doing, of course.
I guess it's my turn to play cynic. Given George wrote the treatment, it's very possible. I can hope not, but I won't be devastated if he is.
Another short outage this afternoon.
Well, can't say she doesn't fit DisneyXD's target audience -- that dumb name has always implied silly shenanigans and hardcore-ness.
I must admit, I do have reservations but as of now I'm still of the wait-and-see mentality; however, that's mostly because Weisman is involved. Ignoring his poor luck in keeping a show on the air, he's proven he can do great cartoons that appeal to everyone.
^Speak for yourself! I often forget to check on Legacy, so I like hearing from mverta over here. The optimist in me has this feeling his connections to Lucasfilm could, one day, pay off. Also, at least he's honest about it upfront.
@You_Too: you don't appear to be banned to me.

So the home video was intended to be 4:3 and the cinema matted for 16:9?
Way too confusing and way way over my head, lol.
Well considering the movie was released in 1967 I doubt they had home video in market and probably did this so it'd work well on TV airings. Just think of it as a movie that accounts for any and all overscan possibilities, lol
Weird, that post showed the images previously...
@Skyjedi: pretty sure Jungle Book was animated open matte so that it would be acceptable at either ratio. Your preference depends on how you think each cropping affects the movie - with the Disney films of this era, I tend to prefer the 4:3 edition.

Sorry for starting this by addressing -1. I was addressing the Team as a whole too. I guess I'll ask none if he has any leader info or anything.
Wasn't none announced being part of the team a few months ago?

The paper rings around the reels are something different, they will identify the studio, sometimes the lab, sometimes other info. If the prints had them intact, and the team has any pictures of them, they might hold a clue as to the origin and purpose of the print. I've already said why I don't think it was for TV broadcast.
While I'm intrigued, has it been confirmed that this blue cast is actually a print anomaly and not just a result of their scanning approach?
-1, have you released any of your workprints other than the small chunks on vimeo?
Keep up the good work guys!
I remember awhile ago they said they were rescanning the print and it wasn't quite as cool the second time around. I think it's a little of a, little of b.
I disagree; I find those pretty oversaturated for my tastes. That isn't to say that the Diamond Edition is correct, in many places it seems a little washed out, but I think there's a proper balance inbetween the two that has yet to be found.
edit: and, in fact, the subtle color pallet of the Diamond Edition is something I like correct or no. It could do to be a bit warmer, but something tells me it's not as far off as people think.
Can confirm there was a short outage for me as well. Actually got a site error message this time, instead of just timing out. If it happens again I'll be sure to cap it, but I'm fairly certain it was just your standard old-school page not found.
blocked.
Disney's not capable of selling him as scum, but I think we could get a reluctant hero out of their films. Just wish they weren't making them at all...
And Chuck Huber is back as McCoy in Vic Trek. You can check out his earlier performances on their vignettes. Though I wasn't unhappy with Larry Nemecek as McCoy, I think Huber has a better grasp on DeForrest Kelley's delivery (I blame his Voice Acting roots). Glad this is happening.
Think it may have something to do with these increased pageviews Frink mentions?
At this point I'm done caring, let -1 be mysterious if he wants / is in fact still involved. No business of mine whether he chooses to keep a low profile or not, however strange it may seem. We're being given proof that we're not just getting taken for a ride here, and that's good enough

@kk650: I think I meant both your color choices and the partly despecialized nature of the final product. This is as good as a non shot-by-shot correction can look, in my opinion. Accurate or no, it's pleasing to me.
Glad to hear the lightsabers will be fixed in the final version.
As much as I share the sentiments about wanting to see something a little less Jedi-centric, perhaps this could bring a chance to explore the parts of Jedi training we never saw. One of my favorite scenes in Star Wars is the one onboard the Falcon when Obi-Wan tries to teach Luke to act on instinct with the aid of the Force.
Then again, I never did catch Clone Wars -- so maybe it's been done already. So long as it's not the driving force behind the plot, it could be okay. Just a piece of the puzzle. One can hope.
*BUMP*
Heh. Seems I've asked for this a few times and never followed through with those that offered it to me. My apologies. My DVD copy decided it's too scratched to play, and the torrents I found are low quality even given the source. Anyone know where the best available version can be found?
