The Saturn is my personal choice for best d-pad. I definitely agree with you though that most modern ones are pretty terrible. My Wii U's gamepad has a d-pad that's loose enough that if you fiddle with it for too long it goes crooked!

I can tell you that whatever masters are used for the home video/streaming releases probably come direct from digibetas. There's all sorts of analog video noise that comes from old masters like that, ie rainbowing etc., present in the show.
Given that, I would not be surprised if the PAL masters are just converted NTSC ones.
Provided this is like The Killing Joke where the original is still easily available in a different edition down the line (or now, considering I doubt the Dark Horse reprints are too hard to find right now) I don't really care.
Though I will say I am definitely, definitely not a fan. It's so bland looking that way.

You know I wonder if the prequels work better as comics. The glibness of some of the one-liners better fits the medium, and you don't have to deal with anyone's acting. I haven't read the Dark Horse adaptations in years, but I remember enjoying Episode II on paper.
Hasn't that pretty much been the standard for Star Wars comics for a good while? I'm pretty sure my Episode II comic from back in the early aughts looked like that cover SilverWook posted, only with better perspective work.

Good grief. Just for the record, with no homo, I've always just found it a dumb term rather than something offensive. It's got to do with people having serious cases of the Notgays rather than it meaning anything offensive.
I've certainly never heard of anyone being offended over it, outside of recognizing the stupidity of the term.
The fact that Weisman left after the first season suggests to me that there's a fair amount of executive meddling going on with this series. I can't comment on a shift in tone, as I haven't seen enough of the show yet, but what Easterhay suggests above would not surprise me at all.
