is there a decent HD version of Dragon : The Bruce Lee Story out there?
is there a decent HD version of Dragon : The Bruce Lee Story out there?
just found this rather interesting video on youtube regarding the audio mixes
many thanks for posting it at the spleen
much appreciated :)
apart from the updated WB logo and the smoothing over of the jump cut with CG then yeah, the 25th Anniversary pretty much nails it from what i remember
They introduced the new sound effects for the DC IIRC
I had the 25th Ann DVD and had watched it quite a few times and remember that the 5.1 mix wasn't that active. the DC though all sorts of things going on in the speakers. I remember comparing them but that was a long time ago
I've only got the non-anamorphic R1 2 disc DVD, the R6 anamorphic DVD and the SE UK Laserdisc (but no way of playing it) but yeah, happy to have a look and compare frames.
Let me know how i can help
FYI i do own the original DVD releases (except for the extended cut, that was awful)
It's this one complete with Red WB logo and Stereo soundtrack

Here are the specs from dvdcompare.net
Production notes
Awards list
Theatrical trailer
French Dolby Digital 1.0
This edition is now OOP.
ah! you saw my suggestion :)
Would love to see the alternate 1.96:1 ratio and original Stereo soundtrack get preserved :)
another one for the list is Predator
goofs galore that were exposed in the open matte version (boom mics, Dillion's third arm etc)
one I would like to see is The Robe. there is a Fullscreen version on the BD but only as a PiP track. they shot scenes with a different camera because they didn't know how the cinemascope process would turn out
possible idea for a project. more of a curiosity in all honesty
The Abyss with the 1.90:1 aspect ratio (as done by James Cameron for this laserdisc apparently)

it would be nice to hear the original stereo soundtrack as well
if anyone is interested, i did manage to grab a VHS - DVD-R of the original TV version which includes TV adverts
can't remeber where i got it from now
thanks for the shoutout there buddy :)
loving what you have planned!
There is a Blu-ray release in Germany in a few weeks FYI

I haven't got the tech to rip the LD audio but i'm Jonno could help us out with that one. i'll ask him the next time i'll hear from him and i'll look into how to rip the audio for GB2 and get back to you
regarding Big Blue, have you got the RCA Columbia LD for the Stereo soundtrack?
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/00652/31026/Big-Blue-The-(1988)
for Ghostbusters 2, I have the Japanese Superbit DVD which has dts 5.1 audio which I can supply if needed
I second Ghostbusters II!
would love to see The Big Blue US version
please don't let this forum become another Blu-ray.com with bickering and fighting
FYI the Prince Charles cinema in London are showing an original 35mm print of this tonight
still prefer the 1.66:1 OAR of the criterion edition in all honesty
which cut is it? Aussie cut or International cut?
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=1551
I've got this Laserdisc. i wonder if this would be close as it was released 2 years after the film came out
http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/31590/PILF-1375/Terminator-2:-Judgment-Day-(1991)
apparently, Verhoeven has already overseen a new HD transfer that hasn't been released yet since the new Robocop film got pushed back until 2014
it's a shame that the original 1.66:1 director's approved OAR that Criterion used can't be preseved using the HD source :(
not sure if anyone has this but looking at the links on this page, it certainly does exist!
Seems there was a bootleg VHS tape some time ago that features Sam Jones original voice before it was dubbed over by a mysterious actor when the star and director fell out and Sam didn’t get called in for post production.
Links are here -> https://sites.google.com/site/flashgordonmovie/flashgordon–dubbingmystery
I’d love to get hold of that audio track on the tape and give it a listen
