Movies with wrong color grading *** UPDATED ***
Time

also I know the Blu-ray of Alien Resurrection got publicly disowned by it's director because he wasn't consulted on the transfer and was reportedly very angry with what it looked liked in HD

if you look at the back of the THX LD, there is a section about the transfer and it's "Silver Rendition" that strips the colour away using an additional film strip (IIRC)

http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/08260/0032585/Alien-Resurrection-(1997)

not sure how it sizes up to the BD version but couple that with the DTS cinema discs that our experts have and I reckon it would be worth looking at

Looks like the hoopla with the uk not getting everything is unfounded.

My uk steelbook came and my digital copy and itunes extras are downloading now

Mike, would you be able and willing to share the iTunes extras in a way that they could be utilised for this all-encompassing project?

Fritz

need to find someone to do the disc building and encoding first. I don't have the tech sadly.

Star Trek Into Darkness Bonus disc (Released)

Let's get a hold of ourselves here.

First of all, there's no extra Vudu material.

Second, the German disc is going to have the bonus material from Target.

Third, Best Buy in the US DOES have additional bonus material on cinemanow but NOT on the disc. However this additional material is actually on the disc in Canada and is exclusive to there.

Fourth, the Sainsbury DVD is the same as Target/Germany.

Fifth, there is no Wal-Mart bonus disc.

Done.

Paramount have really messed this one up lol

thanks for the input though

will try and update the OP as soon as i can

Star Trek Into Darkness Bonus disc (Released)
Time

there’s been a few articles this morning about Paramount’s seemingly epic failing of this release

what they have done is got all the bonus features and spread them across various retailers as exclusives

so far iTunes have got a 1080p copy of the film with a visual commentary (and it also features the IMAX shifting aspect ratio that DOESN’T feature on the Blu-ray itself

VUDU has also got exclsuive downloadable features

and apparently Walmart, Target, Bestbuy have also got various bonus discs featuring different content (still looking into this)

Sainsburys in the UK has got a Bonus DVD similar to what Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol got

absolutle shambles and a kick in the teeth to all the fans in my humble opinion

would be great if all these features could be preserved on a single disc if there isn’t a release that gathers all the features into one single package

Help: looking for... 'The Big Blue' - US version

It's been a while since I looked at the file, but IIRC the AR is fine but the letterboxing has been cropped - most hardware players won't know what to do with the non-standard resolution so they stretch out the existing image to fit 16:9.

UncropMKV will sort this out - it restores the image to true 16x9 (letterboxed, obv.)

Rob, I need to send you a long email! Speak later.

CHEERS FOR THAT LINK :) will have a go with that when i get the time

a logn email will eb very welcomed i can assure you after all the paperwork that landed on my desk today lol!

yes but those images in the links provided are from the already released DVD/BD

the article saying "take a look at the Event Horizon you didn't see" is misleading because those images ARE in the film

you can see additional footage here (from the bonus features of the BD / DVD) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK1debnXYlA

if you want to see UNSEEN footage, try looking for the original EPK's ;)

there was additional footage of Justin discovering the Gravity Drive (snippits of dialogue and shots of him being wowed by the complexity of it)

there was also behind the scenes footage of this scene

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocQvTGLuBY8

plus, Anderson cut the gore back to give it a "less is more" effect as explained in Fangoria #170

"While the story revolves around a space rescue team having their worst terrors turned against them...Anderson wanted to avoid having the film become "pedantic" by skirting over this issue in some of the characters...Cooper,for instance, was losing someone close to him, which is represented in the movie by the unfortunate accident that claims Justin...Justin also lost some backstory that provided a stronger explanation for why he enters the ship's strange vortrex...The feelings that Stark has for Capt. Miller are also glossed over in the final cut...Other trims included a detailed explanation for the gateway & the black hole, which Anderson thought confused the test audiences. another lost moment was written by Seven scribe Andrew Kevin Walker and involved a subtle homage tp 2001:A Space Odyssey...cutting down the gore was not a major issue..."My feeling about gore is that if you hold on to it for too long, for the first second it looks great, the second its not scary, the third you start noticing that someones intestines look a bit like rubber and by the fourthit's by God,they ARE rubber."...don't expect the missing 1/2 hour to appear anytime soon on DVD..."

Perhaps the most visceraly promising film of last summer Paramonts SF/horror entry....though it never lived up to the 'event" part which many put the blame on it's truncated running time of 95mn-trimmed from a 2 hour rough cut!

It also mentions that the theatrical version was how PA wanted it & felt th tight editing kept the suspense & story moving forward. (Though you never know today if this is the truth or not)

Some of the cuts....

The greatest fear of Cooper(Richcard T. Jones) was loosing someone close to him, which is represented in the film by the unfortunate accident that claims Justin.

(PA wanted to"skirt" over these issues with some charecters so it would'nt become "pedantic")

Justin also had some backstory + a stronger explanation for why he enters the strange vortex.

The feelings that Starck has for Capt. Miller were also glossed over in the final cut

A much longer & detailed explanation for the gateway & black hole which PA felt confused the hell out of test audiences because it offered "to much" extra info.

A homage to 2001.....when the crew first enters the ship.....there was a floating tooth with a single shot of the bone still attached. So instead of the space station turing in 2001,it was this tooth!

The gore was also cut down though was'nt a major issue for the diretor who felt that shortening cutting away really fast has a stronger impact.

I think you are missing the point and fighting a war that did not need fighting.

Point of thread: Uncut VHS found, can we get hold of it to make an uncut version?

Not the point of thread: look at those pics in the link

Not at all trying to start a war. Point i was making - simply the pics in that link do not represent the uncut VHS, just in case anyone was getting the impression that it was. As shown here where members thought it was screencaps from the uncut version until it was pointed out -> http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=226222

doubt that uncut VHS will be leaked as it's in the hands of the producer as noted in this inteview -> http://collider.com/paul-w-s-anderson-resident-evil-5-retribution-interview/181527/

Idea: Event Horizon - UNCUT...

if anything, the DTS CD-ROM's that borisanddoris has are grabbing my interest. saw this twice at the cinema and was blown away by the audio mix for it. made it much more intense

the home video 5.1 (on DVD and BD) didn't come anywhere close

one scene in particular is the opening scene with Wier in his little pod. the scene where he's shaving and pauses whilst looking in the mirror had an eerie silence then he continued shaving, the moment after when the pod window opened was so loud and made us all jump out our seats

you listen to that bit on the BD / DVD and it's just too quiet

plus the AR is screwed on the BD. too vertically stretched as seen here http://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?p=36964#p36964
