looks like the HD restored Theatrical Cut that is on the BD in all honesty
looks like the HD restored Theatrical Cut that is on the BD in all honesty
can anyone cap the LD to compare the colour timing?
it's been a while since i saw my LD version (and i have no player anymore)
I've always wondered if the BD transfer has the same colour timing as the THX LD in all honesty
slightly off topic but still on the same subject matter
I remember the VHS version of Nightmare on Elm Street 2 being a lot darker than the DVD and BD versions to the point where you could never really see Freddy's face properly. certainly gave it a more sinister atmosphere
also the music during the credits were different. I don't think the song that was used the DVD/BD version was originally licensed for the first home video versions so it was replaced with a suite from Christopher Young's score
will certainly be looking at seeing your regraded version!
all this work is absolutley amazing! can't wait to see the final product!
I was looking back at my original posts when this was announced lol
glad it's still in the pipeline
I managed to homebrew a BD-25 of the HD-DVD video with the Blu-ray DTS-MA (just to get the original on screen captions) over the weekend until this project comes to fruitition
I also managed to snag from rutracker, the 2 disc complete score and an interesting little oddity called 'Jerry Goldmsith's missing score'
not sure if anyone can add to that, i wasn't aware an alternate score existed?
My (UK) BD of The Mummy has player generated captions for the subtitles and locations which bugs the hell out of me since the cinema and DVD captions were specifically designed for the film
if there is a Custom BD that restores those with original cinema DTS audio, I'll be a very happy chappy I can assure you!
The mixture works quite well with samples 1 and 3 but not with 2. That blue tint (or shall i say overcoat) looks too much IMHO
Haven't seen the disc in motion though but from what i've seen from the screencaps, the yellow tint does add a bit of vintage look to the landscape shots that look ok to me like the final duel at the end (that's just my opinion of course) but like with sample 3, the yellow does make the blue sky look more Turquoise
I think it would have to be a mixture of both 50/50 and Mondo regrading depending on what scene
what would be nice would be to see a collection of James Cameron films utilizing their altered Home Video AR as they were shot with super35 and have a lot of picture info when opened up
The Abyss US LD (1.90:1)
Terminator 2 (1.33:1)
True Lies (1.33:1)
Avatar (would love to see the 2.40:1 Ratio that I saw at the cinema)
Not sure about Titanic though as that was both ratios for the 3D Blu-ray
Sign me up to that!!!!
there were still issues with the multi-channel remix of Jaws (both 5.1 and 7.1)
How about members throw one suggestion for future Team Blu projects in the hat and the best sounding idea that you think could possibly sit on Team Blu's 'to do list' wins the discs?
Woah this sounds cool!
waiting with anticipation!
+1 for Conan is anyone can share please
sorry to derail the thread

For anyone coming to this thread and looking for info on getting this....it has disappeared from MySpleen. I originally uploaded it and it doesn't even show in my history. I have no idea what happened and I can't get a reply back from the admins on what happened. Sorry.

It's a shame about this film because after viewing the deleted scenes, there is a very decent sci-fi film buried in this mess
Awesome!
I got that R6 DVD of The Abyss with DTS 6.1 audio
if anyone can supply a simplifed way to extract the audio I'll happily help out
I prefer the new colour timing to be honest
Mr _,,,^..^,,,_
work your magic please :) a 2 disc set with that HD version and the LD 1.90:1 would be awesome!
(sorry for thread hijacking)
Could you possibly add the DTS 6.1 track from the original DVD as it was mixed in 6.1 theatrically (I think)
ooooohhhhhhhhhhh
I literally pushed this idea to digidreams studio in Germany the other day
can't wait!
not sure if it's my PC monitor or not but it looks a tad more green than blue in all honesty
i've only just hopped onto thsi thread so will need to look at all the other comparison shots :)
**edit**
just checked them, certainly looks better without the DVD inspiried red / pink tint. this is one of those problematic HD transfers though sadly so any work done on it is appreciated i can assure you :)
