Anyone got £40,000 to spare?
Time
I am perfectly comfortable with everything I have stated and having seen the site and seeing that my username is not being mentioned there directly i have no problem. This isn't a big revelation in the prop world.I dont believe Bonhams were being deliberately deceitful however they should have researched the piece more thoroughly.I do not believe this cloak to be the real one used by Guiness.Far too many differences and it can't be screen-matched to any degree that i would see fit to justify this kind of price.i have been offered many items that after some research have turned out to be fakes and whoever buys these items should do just that-research.A guy was recently sold what he was told was a prototype Darth Vader helmet for $8000.It turned out to be a remolded Don Post mask.Think first-buy later.

I was not asked for permission to use my username on any site or make quotes associated with my username on any site.I really dont want quoted on any news sites. There has been a long discussion about this piece and,as I say, there is a general consensus that this piece is not legitimate. It is felt within the prop community that if a piece cannot be definitely screen-matched,which has proved problematic at the very least with this, then it should not command this type of premium nor should it be absolutely claimed to be what it is.There is a definite lack of history on this piece and too many differences to the one seen on screen for this to be genuine in my opinion. This is based not solely on my "expertise" but on the original prop communitiy's analysis which includes many very well-respected collectors who have been collecting for many years. It is felt that there are too many differences in the stitching, hemming and seams and material for this to be definitively claimed to be ben's cloak.
Please do not quote me on any news sites.

VERY murky water out here in the Star Wars props and costume world. As the man himself says "We must be cautious".There is a never-ending parade of fakes and frauds that get trotted out.Big business.
This particular piece has been discussed a lot among the prop community and there is a general consensus that it cannot be screen-matched and was definitely not used in the film.

30 years amongst the stars: Let this be the Year!
Time
When I first saw Star Wars my entire life changed forever.Everyone will give you different reasons for how Star Wars affected their life. For myself it opened my eyes and my mind to new horizons.A universe of limitless possibilities.A universe where there was dark and villainous evil opposed by the purity and integrity of a brave few who stood against the tide of a seemingly unshakeable tyranny.
Ultimately I would gain a fair portion of my world view from these magnificent films.I always aspired to be more like my hero Luke Skywalker. There are few enough truly inspirational figures and Luke was always mine and continues to guide me and teach me to this day.I hope to bring these lessons that I have learned about the great value of hope and courage to my children.
All six films will continue to inspire me to be a better person. My deepest thanks and admiration to one of my mentors-Mr.George Lucas.
Regardless of the tampering which seems to cause such endless unrest,I am a huge fan of all six films.Even the inconsistencies and mistakes that he has made.Anyone here remember when it was just ok to have fun watching a star wars movie and not nitpick them within an inch of their lives?Don't get me wrong I am a member here now as I want to have the original trilogy as I remember it from my childhood but that doesn't stop me enjoying ALL of the films. They're just great, great movies.
Once again, and despite the backlash that i no doubt will get for this, thank you George for continuing to inspire me.My second son is named after him,Lucas,so he is and will remain one of my mentors for his ideas and vision.

Prequel Character Names
Time
Has it come to this?Have we all finally run out of things to genuinely bitch about so know it's prequel character names?Good grief.Surely there must be a more valid way to vent your feelings about the prequels.I will always accept criticisms of the PT,though I may not agree as I generally like the PT but do appreciate and understand other's thoughts concerning them, but this is really scraping the bottom of the barrel folks.

Lucas @ The Oscars

I totally disagree.I absolutely loved ROTS and I think the visual achievement was stunning. My jaw dropped at the Coruscant space battle.Breathtaking.Perhaps I am in the minority as a fan of the prequels and particularly ROTS which I thought was wonderful but I thought it was a genuine achievement. The scope and vision and grandeur of ROTS really took me back to being a kid with the OT.Not the most popular opinion I'm sure but we all have our thoughts about them and those are mine

Lucas @ The Oscars

What really pissed me off,and proved the academy panel just hate Lucas,is when Narnia won for effects over ROTS which wasn't even nominated. What the hell was that about!A great quote from Empire magazine who were equally perplexed:
"Making talking beavers-that's the hard thing.Building galaxies is easy....."
If I had been at ILM I would have been well cheesed off.
