i do prefer ep1 in some ways to 2 and 3 for its use of real sets, it does feel more like a star wars film in that way.

personally i think a small battledroid reference would be fun, but perhaps kurgan has a point. does ady plan to do a purist/non purist version again? it could be something that features in one and not the other.

i agree, i always assumed his ugliness was due due to extreme old age in ROTJ, i remember seeing him in TPM and thinking that he has to age another 35ish years from the partially aged state he is in that!

after just watching the emperor in ROTS and ROTJ, the whole coloring in the films is completely different. the emperors throne room in ROTJ is basically just blue/grey, so his desaturated colouring fits in perfectly, but if the same colouring was in the very technicolour coruscant i dont think it would work, i mean just the background alone would drown out the ROTJ face should it have been the same. perhaps the solution would involve all the emperor scenes in ROTS becoming far less coloured?

though the colouring is just the tip of the iceberg, i wish the yoda/sidious fight was more like the voldemort/dumbledore fight in harry potter and the order of the phoinex film. I would have liked to see them fighting with just the raw force in really imaginative ways without too much physical exertion on a flat ground.

i know its off topic, but in regards to the ROTJ hayden, i prefer the sebastian shaw as it portrays old anakin, BUT i see the point about the link between the sagas. as its only a tiny clip, it would be awesome if ady could merge them together into a haybastian chraw. or somehow have shaws head on anakins clothes from 3. (ill just slot it in, but id also like to see the ghosts of the other jedi watching aswell, regardless of the special ghosting ability that qui gon invented etc etc.)

i was thinking of the way the OT has aged slightly, especially ANH, as it feels ever so slightly 70s, even with the great work done in ANHR, but i think thats what gives it charm over the OT.

now what if one retrofied the PT to look like films made in the 1950s? and TPM to look like a 40s film? i think thats how ROTS worked so well in a way on  design level as it was very retro in regards to a few subtle details, like obi wan hairstyle and the coruscant buildings.

no idea really, but ill meditate upon it. if the clone emperor goes then i wont mind as much. i really dont like how the cloned emperor and the prophecy clash so badly.

if you do the tales of the jedi, more importantly "Golden Age of the Sith" leading to "Darklords of the Sith", would you consider giving some fo the lead characters "Darth" titles even if they are sparingly used in the dialogue? I would like to do recolouring work on ulic and exar kun to make them more fitting.

just a quick thought, are you going to make jorus c'boath a clone or a survivor? i hate the whole clones thing, the emperor, thrawn luuke and joruus. it seems like a cop out storyline.

wow, love the crawl! certainly looks like star wars now! are you going to keep the actual text the same though? it seems  a bit brief (as did the original!) but the changes you have made are great.

the page directly before it could have the star wars logo, so you see the logo, then turn the page and its the crawl, kind of like the film?

the colouring wound literally be the icing on the cake.

Unfinished alternative colour pallette. Desaturated and re-Hued. I tried recolouring one of the beasts at the bottom.

as mentioned before this could help bridge the gap between different artists. the thing that always bugged be about the first Exar Kun graphic novel, was the blatant change in artist, colouring and bordering that happened in the last act.

as mentioned before these are by no means a well considered approach, but i hope you can understand the potential.

its also very quick and easy! the real hard work i can imagine is all the other stuff.

heres just a quick (very rough) example of how colours can be changed with just a hue filter. its kind of out of context, but if you were to read the comic as a whole it would seem alot more interesting. i tried to make this page seem claustrophobic.

in regards to the projects, would you consider making a comic version of the opening crawl? like maybe a flattened version, just someway of standardizing each project?

you could recolour them overall to make up for the miscontinuity of style and artists, plus standardise plasters and lightsabers, liek a comic book revisited?

i was contemplating an edit to kind of follow these lines once, just didnt really know how to pull it off.

have you ever seen tank girl? because the film production went so badly wrong, some scenes and shots were replaced with comic drawn images. this accident really actually helped the film considering it was actually based on a comic. now what if we did the same thing with the star wars films? one could even incorpeate the clone wars cartoons, and maybe do clever filter things too? maybe hints of EU storylines could be presented in this way, and an alternative Danny Elfman style score to accompany the films?

i think some may believe i have committed heresy now.....

i must admit adys mix will probably fit alot better, i like how he has salvaged the conversation to return it to how it felt originally. though for the sake of GMs version, would ady consider putting it as an extra perhaps? i think its innovation and originality deserves remembrance. even though GMs input may not actually be generally accepted i like the ideas and at least it brings up constructive debate.

any thoughts on having shots of the emperor in the flesh talking to a holographic vader, or is that a bit too distracting?

dooku was sith, he got the title darth tyranus, but the EU magically came up with the diffenece between sith and dark jedi after TPM came out to explain all the other baddies that they had written about like lumiya etc. hence how dooku gets lots of dark jedi cronies in the clone wars. buts that EU stuff, that is cool, but shouldnt be mixed with the films.

i can imagine a lucasfilm apologetic may try to say that they meant to turn luke to the dark side and not to sith or something like that. the thing i hate about the prequels and any added backstory to anything, is how it stops things seeming real, i would love to go back in time and tell GL to write all 6 in 1977 so it would seem like it was actually intended. would there be anyway of working the term "sith" into the speech or into any point of the ROTJ do you think? i like the idea of referencing padme in the great "your mother" debate.

just a thought, if "vader" is dutch for "father", would that make luke, darth "zoon", ie dutch for son?

you can kind of tell that the emperor at this point has already started to plot vader's replacement. maybe if the office did feature in the conversation. there could be a brief pause for both the characters after the conversation is over, ie, holograms disappear, then we see the emperor just think, then we see vader just think seperatly. i like how they immediatly are planning to betray each other. the only flaw between the rule of the 2, is that now they have agreed to turn luke, they have practically just told each other that they are going to have to fight for mastership.

i always liked the idea of replacing sidious with dooku in TPM, and making maul grevious. the jedi would always be expecting 2 sith, but sidious was cunning and had 2 apprentices perhaps?

i dont know if this has been suggested, but do you think it would work to have the emperor in his office talking to a hologram of vader in a few shots? could be neat to feature coruscant in the OT or just be a nice deleted scene? would have to mesh ROTJ and possibly his office from the prequels, or even just his tower from ROTJ but with a coruscant background visible through the windows?
