i really like that, its almost like a young vader, but i still think no vader would be better. unless you saw the emperor in a token scene near the end, with vader stood near him, but he is not introduced so its almost like "whos that guy?"
but if we see anakin turn into vader, where is the surprise for ESB? i back ady for this.
just a note for palpatine vs mace windu fight:
i would love to see windu go alone, this would remove the crappy jedi deaths, plus make it seem a bit more dramamtic (he is going to take him ALONE?!)
also, maybe enstead of anakin pleading for windu to not kill sidious, ie:
windu "i am going to end this once and for all!"
sidious "no dont!"
anakin "i need him"
anakin attacks windu
the dialogue could run:
windu hols off lightening, almost overcome
windu: "anakin, help me, end this!"
anakin ponders
anakin (COLDLY) "no."
anakin attacks windu (or maybe kills him?)
it would make his decision seem less passive, and maybe like he had decided before even entering the room. the "no" would be almost like when ISILDUR decides to keep the ring in Fellowship of the Ring, kind of callous and evil.
if vader isnt to feature as such, making anakins sabre red for the end fight would probably make the vader-skywalker link to obvious, so blue would fit better. it would be cool if we are left feeling like "anakin almost became a sith lord, thank god obi killed him before he got his red sabre"
the yoda - sidious fight, if it isnt removed ( i REALLY hated it) would be amazing if it is more like the wizards battle in harry potter V between voldemort and dumbledore, just lightening of two colours destroying everything around them. it would be neat having yoda never use his sabre (except when he beheads the clone troopers as ady said)
top one looks more bizare, personally i prefer it. bottom one looks too much like a shitzu.:P
i just thought id drag the 3po debate here. im fully behind ady for removing 3po references into ROTS. the only improvement on this i would like would be a golden 3po being with padme in TPM, so the droids would be together from the start, and we would never actually know how they meet, it would just be something beyond the films, as if they existed for many years prior.
getting rid of 3po would mean the throw away line "have the protocol droids mind wiped" would go too (please!) i do like the idea that r2 and 3po have probably been wandering around the tantive IV corridors endlessly for 20 years. so they just end up bitching at each other out of boredom eventually.

i know it falls into " we do because we can" but to an extent isnt that what a fan edit truly is? out of all changes that can be made, it would just be as a reminder that, "oh look, the jedi finally triumphed! yay!" it is far from the generic "add duel of the fates" addition (at least i hoped.:P)
ive already mentioned this, but it would be cool for just obi, anakin and yoda to be there at first, then afterwards loads of jedi spirits to begin emerging. just would tie the PT in with the OT (regardless of the whole being one with the force stuff)
maybe they could just appear at random around endor from afar, in some extended finale scene. im not a fan of the yearbook ending, but maybe something more reflective like the jedi appearing around vaders funeral, if that were the last scene.

has anyone seen infodroids Temple of Doom edit? if you havnt he basically begins the film in the indian jungles, and inserts everything prior to that in flashback form after they reach pankot palace.
could the same be done with TPM perhaps? with the film opening with the naboo cruiser running the blockade? the opening music from ANH could be used pretty nicely perhaps?
if that were too similar to ANH, perhaps it could be opened from when qui gon is leaving for mos espa, but perhaps a more drawn out, more ominous opening with mysterious music with an aproaching figure shimmering on a baked tatooine horizon? id like to see the phantom menace recreated into a stand alone film, as if it were made first and the others were sequels (and maybe its just called star wars....*prepares ones self for projectile rotten fruit*)

i agree with what you say Rhikter. i would personally prefer to see the whole feel of the film changed to be inline with the OT, the length of work would need to go alot further than altering bits, and recolouring other things. a PT edit would need to be more than an edit, but more of a new film.
my point was to make the clone/storm troopers consistant.:P
so id just make the clone troopers blank.
retrofication is what we need in these really. i think ady is making the OT like X% more like the PT by bringing in viewscreens, new lasers, lightsabers, consistant evvects likr hyoerscpace etc (i think you get what i mean) so the PT needs to be retrofied X% to fit in with this. I would love to see the lightsaber fights slowed and without music, almost like crappy is better.

how about TPM being renamed simply STAR WARS, as ANH was originally. it would make sence if we were to pretend it was the first in the saga.

i know the characters of maul/grevious are completely different. but if DARTH GREVIOUS was used in TPM:R im sure the nature of the character would be heavily redefined.

wouldnt it seem random that the emperor would blow up his own home world though? or would it make sence that he is the senator of some random planet called naboo, who is just helping out amidala. perhaps it could be implied that Sio Bibble is senator through alien subtitles and he stays in order to let the queen go. i cant remember if organa is in TPM or not.
i would also suggest that coruscant scenes are perhaps replaced/re toned to appear more like ROTS, which has a much moodier and dramatic palette.
maybe TPM could be retrofied like Shroud of the Dark Side. Little touches like making the red republic cruiser at the beginning white (like the millenium falcon concepts it was based off) i would be happy to see darth maul become darth grevious.:)
i like the the expanded trade fed ideas, like having geonosians on tatooine.
