STAR WARS

the EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

RETURN of the JEDI

but the new ones are all a bit, well, either:

PHANTOM MENACE   - too criptic for what should be a punchy first off title (still stand by 'the star wars as a title if we are to pretend its the first film.:P, but understand if thats unpopular!)

ATTACK of the CLONES   -I thought was fine, except its not really that true for the film. the clones attack the badguys, and they dont even appear until the end! SHROUD of the DARKSIDE was so much better! As the film is much more of a romantic thriller, something mysterious is better. perhaps even 'the phantom menace!'

REVENGE of the SITH   -I was SO disappointed by this title, its just a rehash of REVENGE OF THE JEDI title that preceded RETURN OF THE JEDI.

Personally if i was to think of another name, something without 'of the' in the middle would be awesome.

The Clone War would be great title, but the war doesnt really happen until the end. It would have been better if AOTC was episode I, then a CLONE WAR film was episode II that could allow episode III to not be so rushed...oh well...;P

does ady have any plans to rename the prequels?

i always like seeing alternatives as the PT titles just dont sound as iconic as the OT ones.

wow! they look great! especially tpm! i guess using a new hope as a title would defeat the point i guess!

looks interesting, though i'd like to see it on some more CG shots.:) what video program did you use?

i hate to say the music choice wasnt my cup of tea!;)

the thing i like about the opening title cards is that it could reduce the saga down to a 5 episode saga, so AOTC and ROTS could just be 1 and 2 effectively. of course they would need to be fan edits, with this concept in mind.

thanks for finding those logos, retrofying the PT logos in your style would really help standardize the whole franchise.

those logos look awesome in colours, though a lighter shade of red would be better. i know you said you were going to pretend the prequels didnt happen, but does anyone know of any prequel title cards in a similar style?

i'll see what i can do vaderios, if you post up the processes in photoshop you did, or redo them, but just tweaking RGB settings and BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST, i will post sample clips if you want?

ive alway been curious about the logo thing. they look excellent! thought about recolouring them? i remember the original esb trailer having a blue logo.

ok, inspired by vaderios colour changes, ive had a go at recolouring the rots duel in a more natural lookng style. i tried to make it look like the film was made with more technical limitations, so ive effectively cropped out alot of the grand PT long shots, and tried to cut it shorter.

theres no sound as i a currently adding sfx to it manually in order to remove the music, so we have the 'silent battle' again.

it is flawed in many little ways.:P

i always thought the emperors throne room would look interesting with a purple hue. could you have a go at that vaferios?:) pretty please!

also, the ROTJ matte with han and lando. the mattes are never that bad, except for the segmented feeling of background and foreground. it would be awesome to have legs added to han and lando and have them more set in the scene, but failing that how about having people in the background interacting with it?

i guess in rots though the windows were alot bigger and the subjective characters wernt stood right next to it. could be better when the action is further away perhaps, ie the lightsaber battle.

vaderios, could you have a crack at making some photoshoped stills of the pt stuff with bits disguising the sets? like the carbon chamber in esb having a smokescreen to hide the background? im sure the ot would have the huge sweeping backdrops the pt had if the technology was available, but as a wise man once said, 'less is more'

id like to see the pt as if it were made with technological inhibitions. personally i really like the desaturated PT, but wouldnt apply it to a whole film. the droid factory is definitly the best, and i like the emperors office being gray enstead of purple

would be cool. would you expand it to a long shot?

i was surprised how well the inserted luke worked in that scene, he even looks the right way!

i really like what youve done with han in the rebel briefing, the pause works really well. i also like how you are adding more force stuff for luke in the rancor pit.

i really hope ady will use some of these ideas of yours (if you are ok with that!)

whos been keeping up to date with the series? got a new mac with final cut so im itching to start this edit. there have already been several threads on this already, i would just like to start one for this project in particular.

id like to combine episodes together to form a film, the only tricky thing is having a B storyline, and a climax that links these, and i guess a plot. so all the fundamentals of a film…

the first half of the film, with the hutt story removed would work for me, with perhaps the malevolance storyline added as a main plot. i would perhaps like to make an introduction of grevious, perhaps from the kit fisto episode.

any suggestions welcome! alternative ideas for combining episodes, and music replacements.

if i were to put something together, could someone help me with the crawl?
