do you think the emperor could have a star destroyer / yacht? not that horrible thing from the comics, but maybe something that isn't grey, and looks a bit sleeker. maybe actually smaller than a regular star destroyer.
it could even dock directly with his tower.

but what if the emperor arrived by star destroyer, ie, have the star destroyer LAND in DRY DOCK in a massive hangar? bearing in mind this is the first time we have seen him in the flesh for two movies (and about 25 years) so some eccentricity would be pretty essential.
there could be legions of stormtroopers waiting and marching down the docking ramp with him. some fat CGI would be required i imagine though.

okay, here is a ROUGH (and i mean rough) idea for an alternative dagobah opening/early scene. i was thinking perhaps placed after vader first visits the death star. this would also precede yoda dying, although the possibility of of breaking the two scenes up with some of the jabbas palace story would work.
this would follow the assumption that luke has been training since ESB, and that building his lightsaber is the final stage of his training. throughout the scene yoda would be weezing and showing signs of extreme old age. also some recoulourng/tweeking would be needed to alter lukes appearance so its less obvious where it is sourced from.
i had the idea after finishing though, that enstead of yoda giving luke the crystal, perhaps we could also see yoda's lightsaber de-constructed (assuming he had one and never lost it) so there would be an element of master-apprentice handing down.
i think the lighting could be better tweakied, so it is in almost complete darkness, so when the lighsaber is lit, the scene is flooded with green light. POW.

for the ending, how about the celebration continues as usual, but we only see the ghosts of obiwan and yoda, luke then proceeds to burn his father afterwards, then pan up and end.

i think the emperors shuttle should be something COMPLETELY new, maybe something more yacht-ish like the solar sailor dooku uses?
SSWR did some mockups which follow a similar vein to your ideas, such as the stormtrooper armour and the lightspeed ending. did you ever see any?
does anyone know what that metal bar that yoda holds is supposed to be? is he holding a lightsaber by its blade?
perhaps brown robes on top of black undergarments? as he only wears the robes on tatooine, so you would get the idea, and only edit half the film?
really really impressive though!
i've been trying to experiment with ROTJ and these new scenes that have surfaced. the sandstorm is quite fun to play with, with really REALLY rough dialogue bastardised from the cockpit conversation in the alternative scene dropped in.
what has challenged me though is trying to the ewok content down, whilst using some of the corridor battle footage to boost the pace of an alternative battle.
my conclusion however, is, are the ewoks actually that horrendous? is there presence that sickly? what always annoyed me was how they were just shoved in your face, and how the film ends with them, as if they are just as essential as the three heroes.
in the battle of endor, we see them overcome the imperials, which is, stupid. but what is they could be portrayed as just offering a distraction, so the rebels can get another shot at attacking the base?
in my ewokless plan, i was considering that leia could discover the "secret entrance" when she falls off her speeder. the obi wan talk would appear on endor, to spur luke to confront vader (as oppose to the leia conversation), and the corridor fight would be used to fill out a second attack after they get captured.
it is strange. i was wondering if the falcon was supposed to go to endor perhaps? would explain the cheap over use of the shuttle prop later on.
just imagine what ady can do with these with some extra space battle footage? although i imagine by then the second unit will be filming other stuff!
you know, if someone (thinking angel) posted a step-by-step tutorial of how to recolour just one frame of b+w film in photoshop, using specific numbered colours, or a swatch. 20 or so of us could easily munch through some of that footage.
does anyone know why the rebels have guns on the falcon? was there supposed to be some boarding action?

^ i like some of these ideas mithrandir! the empire could be really positive to begin with, then just start to get nasty. sort of like the rise of nazi germany, initially appearing like a positive economic force to the masses..... then the persecution begins.
maybe yoda even goes into exile really soon as the empire is founded?

PERSONALLY, i never like the idea of the SITH, as they are never mentioned by name in the OT (i know they are in the script and the novels). I really just like the idea that Jedi as a whole sometimes just go bad.

i'm not an expert, but someone (ady or angel) did a fair job cleaning up the previous release of the biggs scene. surely they could do a pretty awesome job with this release?
i'd be up for tension and struggle. so the windu - sidious duel is very strong IMHO.
i think the anakin - obi wan duel should be more like a cross between the ESB duel and ROTJ duel. Anakin overwhelms Obi-wan to begin with, then Obi-wan rushes him towards the end.
i like the idea of it over hanging a water fall. can you imagine the explosion causing it to fall and crash over the rocks?
has anyone suggested turning endor into some sort of prehistoric planet? so lots of dinosaurs and giant birds. almost like king kong. not necessarily like avatar, but perhaps it could just be BIG.
