Idea & Info: Star Wars Replacement Music Suggestions
Time

my only gripe is that the companions have identical names and backstorys BUT i digress. there seem to be a few people claiming to have THE soundtrack, which seems dubious as your links refer me to music i havn't heard yet. also on mine some of the tracks are actually a bunch of seperate tracks clumped together. the thing is massive.

how good is that main theme? frickin awesome.

i've sort of made a bastardised SWTOR soundtrack for personal listening, and some of it is quite good!

it is actually quite a nifty resource as far as it comprises of bastardised parts of existing music, all played in a consistent manner, so a fan-editor can essentially start using certain themes from the OT, that would sound just a tad different to avoid any direct connection.

ahhh, well good! i like the colour changes you've made, chiefly being the change in contrast and the cyan sabres. the music is a really good choice too, although coincidentally i have been experimenting with that piece put to the duel at the end of the film as an OT substitute to battle of the heroes. didnt trooperman do a similar thing in SOTDS? it is a good idea i think to mix these things.

i've been suggesting the whole sith-removal for a while now.

in the EU fiction sith rock as we have a whole load of backstory and they are presented as this massive super-culture. they really function in this context.

in the films however, they are a horribly simplified cohesive term for evil. this really really castrates everything about what anakin's turn should be about (which is one of the key themes of the series). the dark side/light side choice is something which we as people are presented with everyday, on a small level, and on a large level. luke's constant personal battles epitomize this. being consistently good, then becoming evil to join team-evil (ie the sith) doesn't seem to have that same personal relevance.

the chosen one prophecy is a bit cheesey IMHO buuuut could work well in the OT if it was mentioned in ROTJ or ESB. think of the "he was our last hope" conversation between yoda and obiwan. what if it is mentioned that luke is now believed to be the chosen one, as it is obviously not anakin. when luke is defeated by the emperor, and vader slays him, it would act as a sort of slight final twist. this overall though may detract from the theme of ROTJ, which is luke saving vader, as oppose to luke assassinating the emperor - that was just lucky.

Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated?
Time

just to interject with the red leader footage debate. you may find that the red leader scene that we see in the special edition is actually a spliced scene. the cut between is when a guy walks across the camera, and it is obvious that the two shots are completely different. something similar could be achieved using the same method.

incidentally i'm having a star wars showing on my birthday later in the month, where the main 3 additional tatooine scenes have been reinserted to the main film. i haven't cleaned them up, but have enstead degraded the rest of the film to look like its an old super8 film. as we are projecting it it should look quite good! i used my old marvel comics to place the scenes.

a query - does anyone know what music should go with the scenes? was any ever recorded?

the way i would like to see ROTJ (and the saga) end would be open ended. the rebels have a key victory and have potentially defeated the empire, but more importantly removed the key player that has been screwing things up from the beginning - palpatine. so really, its not an ending. i'd like to see it more like the end of ESB with everyone going their seperate ways.

similarily i would prefer to see the SAGA start with the suggestion that the same issues have been preluding the saga. so we don't start at the absolute start, just as we don't finish at the absolute finish.

I can't remember if I suggested this.... but.....

What if LEIA DIES?

Luke learns about leia as usual from obi-wan. He has the same conversation with leia later on, but does not tell her about being his sister (assuming he is going to die himself he decides to spare her the pain, or perhaps just decides that it is too unbelievable himself). Vader still uses the knowledge against luke later on, and luke beats him etc. But the big emotional crash at the end is that he never gets to tell her the big secret, and has to carry it himself FOREVER.

On a small side note. Reign of the Dark Side was already taken for my Ep 3 edit, But I'm sure Ben already knows that 8)

Sorry I probably should have asked first. I put that up,as with many of the other ones, as an example. If anything a library of all the titles would help as a springboard. I'll clarify it with links!

*if anyone recognises any titles and could help me with links that would be awesome!

Simply a humorous bump :)

Here are some ideas:

Ep I: A Light in the Dark

Ep II: The Path to Destruction

I like these, and they make sense.

It could be particularly effective if Ep I is editted to portray the trade federation (or whatever they are renamed to) as a marauding entity that goes from planet to planet pillaging. If the republic is seemingly powerless to prevent it, then it would be just the heroes standing between victory and oblivion. Maybe this conflict would then end with the beginnings of the clone wars at the end (just without the clones!)

Ep II could perhaps have some of the political gloom shifted into it perhaps, I like the duality of both anakin and the republic heading the same way.

^ i have often pondered on this, but would approach it in a completely different way.

1) AOTC would be episode I, ROTS would be episode II.

These would be heavily editted to the point that the entire drive of the plot would be unrecognisable. fan filmed subplots* would begin to build the pilot/wookie/soldier/smuggler plotlines that the PT missed.

the new EPIII would then be a complete fan-film about the Empire dealing with these subplots. Then when we see luke and obi-wan in EPIV, they, like yoda, would have been missing long enough to emphasise their time away from the limelight.

The advantages of cutting TPM, is that the characters and story would be much more akin to ANH, where the entire universe suggests that great events have transpired previously.

The great thing about a new 'filler' film between II and IV is that the Jedi can literally be extinct, so when Han appears to be oblivious to the jedi later on, we can understand this a bit more.

If Lucas ever does make the Live action tv-series then maybe that could be used. Until then maybe we should just dub firefly and pretend.....

*SUBPLOT IDEAS

Beru and Owen, as the han and chewie of the series earlier on, now, fleeing various entaglements with baby luke

If Padme doesn't die, stuff she could be getting on with

Replacing Dooku as we know him with Jedi Dooku, and NOT killing hm off in ROTS. The new film would maybe focus on his redemption. He dies at the end.

The emerging rebel alliance, with teenage leia stepping up later on to take more control.

Maybe something with Biggs, or the droids.

^These can all be mulched together to an extent.
