The Things We Hate And Love Thread .

Although I'm not an athlete at our school, I love going to the games, but I hate the attention they all get. All the special treatment and whatnot. Our principal will show up at every football game, no questions asked, but it took an angry letter to get him to go to Academic Decathalon.

Not to say athletics are bad. Combined with academics, it does a great deal to enhance the mind.

Personally, I think it is a sport. Don't know what you're cheerleader's do, but ours are constantly doing flips, catching each other, aerobic stuff, etc.

Still annoying as hell .

Well, there's a difference between Germans and Nazis. The Nazis were a political group that conisisted of a small amount of the German population. Generally speaking SS units tended to be Nazis and were fighting for Hitler, where as Whermacht (regular army) were average Germans fighting for their country.

I agree that there is a difference btw Germans and Nazis, but the Nazis were there. I just don't how you and reenact WWII without them. Sorry if I'm being annoying.

Well, most reenactments are basically the Allies vs. the Axis. The Allies consist of Americans, Brits, etc. The Axis consist of German units, whether they're Wehrmacht, SS or whatever. We do have a few SS units, who wear swastikas as part of their uniform, if that answers your question.

And about Europe being more tolerant, they are tolerant mainly about things such as nudity or anything relating to the human body, as I understand it anyway. I've never lived in Europe, so someone please feel free to speak up if I'm wrong. It's not uncommon to have nudity on basic TV. They're much more strict about violence, etc. It's much more difficult to acquire violent games over in Europe than America.

I don't mind remakes if they either improve upon the original (which occasionally happens, such as Reservoir Dogs) or take it in a new direction. Such as the new Manchurian Candidate. Now, it was not as good as the original, but I rather liked the updated plot that dealt with corporations, etc. I also liked Liev Schrieiber, as Laurence Harvey was a bit wooden, and his English accent kept getting more and more apparant as the film went on.

The new Willy Wonka looks good too, as it's going to follow the novel more (the title will now be "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory").

Thought on de-SE'ing the DVD

Well certainly from a "restoring the original trilogy" perspective I understand it for ANH. I did like him in TPM though. I thought it was a neat cameo that brought a little bit of the Original Trilogy in the prequels, which isn't bad, in my opinion.

I'd have to agree with that. And it's nice to see some of Jabba's history as well.

Empire of Dreams - what was your imagined Star Wars story...

At least one person has brought up (I believe it was here) that Naboo should have been Alderaan. After all, it's a huge continuity error in the old trilogy that Naboo is not (cept for the celebration scene at the end... which was put in to counter exactly that). I really wanted to see more of that planet, as it is obviously important in the original trilogy (or... was important I guess).

Sounds like this forum nazi needs to get out more; not all of us want to spend the whole day in front of the computer on our porta potties with a Costco size bag of Doritos. You should drop these guys like an A-bomb.

I think doing anything with a Costco sized thing is worthwhile. Hell, just eat the bag and take it back for a refund. I've literally taken salads I've eaten back and got a refund.

So I'm kind of pissed about something, so I figured I'd voice it here. I'm a member of a WW2 reenactors forum, where we discuss, well, WW2. And I was wondering if we could have an off topic forum, since I would like to talk to some of the guys about other, non-war stuff. So, I politely request, and the reply from the admin is:

"No. You have all the time in the world to BS and grab ass, you don't need to do it on a site dedicated to WW2 reenacting."

Ugh. I know its not a huge deal... what do you guys think? Do you think he could have been a but more nice about it? I'm good friends with the guy too... not like he's a bad guy or anything. I think he's just having a case of forum nazi .

Or am I just overreacting to nothing?

Info: What do you think of Lowry's work for the DVD release of the Indiana Jones Trilogy?

That's because mr. Lucas and his team screwed up the colors before sending the movies to Lowry.
It appears you are correct, a bloke called Rick Dean who's a director at THX was responsible for re-timing the colour on ANH (source). But it's only fair to blame Lowry for faults like the obliteration of the laser bolt glows and the starfield.

Not entirely. As already stated, Lowry was not done with the movies before they were taken away.
