Hi,

It's normal. They'll often record extra music that doesn't make it into the final cut of the film for length reasons. Think of it as a deleted scene, only music.

Well, in the other 5 soundtracks and the final track is the same as in the movie, or at least 99% the same. But in ROTS a whole theme was deleted!

The ending theme is quite long, it probably didn't just fit. It's really not uncommon at all for an entire cue to be deleted. The VG Shadows of The Empire's main theme was a deleted cue for example.

Same here. Still, I'm kind of glad. The Throne room music belongs in the Throne room. It didn't sound right.

Independently that you may think it's not appropiate, I think it's a privilege to hear to that wonderful theme in a good cinema with a good audio system.

I didn't post that... lol

Just an idea I thought of a coordinated effort to inform SW forum members of the OOT preservation efforts

Sort of a two fold mission. They are a lot of people out there (people on the official boards included) that are not aware that there is any way to get the OOT on DVD. So, they're stuck with the official releases. One of the objectives of this is to let them know that there is another way, in addition to spending insane amounts on eBay.

Secondly, I also want to let the people at Lucasfilm know that "we will not go quietly into the night." Is this illegal? Hell, these are classic films for christsakes. They can't just shovel sh*t in our faces and not expect some resistance. Hopefully we can get some official response out of this (and no, not the standard "creative changes" BS they sent last time). I'm tired of getting blank answers and want to take action.

Well, who's with me on this? I'd like to get at least five or so people to do it, just to spread the word. I know there's a some disagreement between getting attention/not wanting attention, but just staying in our little hole here won't accomplish a thing. If anyone out there really takes offense to this let me know, because I want people's opinions on this. I don't want to bring this whole thing down.

Most of the people who read those boards are Lucas lovers, but I'm hoping we could at least get the word out. Honestly, I'm hoping more that the Lucas employees will notice rather than the board goers themselves. Most of them are helpless .

As for the statement, a simple announcement stating that since Mr. Lucas does not see fit to restore his films, we have taken the liberty for him. I'd suggest we'd only mention sets like TR47/Cowclops' Dr. Gonzo's, etc and nothing that takes from the official DVDs. We'll make it a point to mention:

A) We are not trying to steal profits in anyway. They're free of charge. We are only providing an outlet to fans since Mr. Lucas will not allow it.

B) Mr. Lucas already stated that the originals do not exist. You can't bootleg non-existent material, therefore these are not bootlegs. More like back-ups, since VHS and LD don't last forever.

You don't want to attract too much attention, as I'm sure we've provided edits before that weren't 100% legal.

I think we should try and attract as much attention as possible. Personally, I think we're losing this battle and we need to get as much recognition as we can. Making sure of course that we make it clear that these ARE NOT the official DVDs we're copying. These do not exist on DVD, we're just making them available at no profit to ourselves.

Would anyone be interested in forming a coordinated effort to inform the official Star Wars forum members of the OOT preservation efforts (in a nice fashion of course, no Lucas bashing, etc)? As in, one person posts first, his post is deleted (most likely), next person posts the same message and so on. We might be able to get a few people before the thread is deleted.

I just wanted to see what other people think, because I don’t want us to appear like a-holes or anything and give us a bad name.

It's not really seeing the film in different ways, sometimes scenes get cut at the last moment, and the music has to go with it. Or it gets altered slightly, and he has to adjust the music a bit.

I haven't watched a SW movie since midnight ROTS

I actually made it a point to see the OT shortly after watching the PT, to reinstate my faith more than anything... lol.

Oh, I don't think you're taking this too seriously. Maybe if I wasn't on a board that was dedicated to the reinstation of the original Star Wars trilogy . Seriously though, you're by far not the weirdest person on here. Try dressing up in WWII outfits for fun, then we'll talk.

Most Powerful Quote in all the Star Wars films.
Time
While I agree that the "liberty dies" quote isn't very well delivered, we are witnessing essentially the end of the Old Republic and how the birth of the empire was completed. And even worse how everyone did not even care/notice it was coming.

Though my personal favorite would have to be "that is why you fail." Topped off a very brilliant scene. Love the music especially.

how long does it take to train a jedi?
Time
As TheSessler already mentioned, it's not like they had a lot of options. And I'm sure Yoda taught him much more than that. He taught him how to control himself most importantly, how to channel himself into using the force in a productive way.

And I'm sure Anakin was "fully" trained before 12 years was up. He fell because he was far too weak. Luke had less training but was stronger and managed to overcome the darkside of the force. Did you miss the whole point of the movies? (j/k )

Why Direct?
Time
From an interview located here.

I personally know that making another trilogy would be difficult on you, would you ever consider leaving it in the hands of Steven Spielberg?

George Lucas: Steven has wanted to direct a Star Wars film for a very long time. I told him no. Star Wars is very personal to me. It would be like me directing a sequel to E.T.: The Extra-terrestrial. It wouldn’t feel right. Steven would make an amazing Star Wars film. No doubt about it, but in order to achieve my vision I must direct these films for myself.

Why did you choose to write and direct the prequels yourself when you did not for "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi?"

George Lucas: This is not true. I wrote the stories for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Lawrence helped me write the scripts, but the idea of what happened came from me. I didn’t direct the sequels to A New Hope because directing the first one almost killed me. It was too much work to do everything. I had to give up some responsibilities. I decided to let others direct the old films. It was a mistake. If I could go back, I would have directed all the films myself.

There's a certain individual i know that has made a script of the scene and i'll post it sometime to show u.

What will add? We already know that the Death Star has been destroyed as well as the victory of the rebels. We'd be going back to PT style story telling where everything must be spelled out for the viewer ("Look, there's the blockade!"). If you go about it that way, you could do that for just about everything. Why not add a scene at the end of ESB where Lando states that Solo has been frozen in carbonite and Luke lost his hand? Oh wait, we already know that.

And Obi-Wan's survival is kept until the beginning of ESB, let's not give this away before the movie even begins.

Pretty much my view on the whole matter. Take out those damned CG ships, but taking out matte lines is perfectly acceptable in my book. Though I really wouldn't complain if they were left for that matter either.
