Preserving the...cringe...Star Wars Holiday Special (Released)

Wasn't the case at all. To the contrary, the first words spoken by my 7-year-old after it was over: "I want to watch it again!" Now you know why I haven't shown the kids the PT. Kids like just about anything. Although, the 10-year-old is pretty keen. My version of the HS has a trailer for AOTC. When they showed Yoda speaking, my 10-y-o said, in her best Yoda voice, "Look like created by a computer was I." Right on.

Thanks! But IMO the Donnie and Marie SW episode holds that distinction.

Well, tonight I'm going to subject my kids to the whole special. They've already seen the animated segment a number of times, and also have seen the Imperial dude rip off the head of Lumpy's stuffed Bantha, but they've never endured the entire program. Hopefully they won't hate me too much after it's over....

thats the best holiday special cover I've ever seen...printing now!

What I want to know is where the hell they got the images for the cover they're the best high quality ones I've seen.

Who has this? The jpeg is no longer in photobucket. Please provide a URL if it is uploaded somewhere, or PM me and I'll give you my email address.

Thanks!

- Dogs (also too long for crazyrabbits)

That's not holding out. You told us you needed "about £150 (approx $280)" for a SATA2 500GB hard drive. If you're able to get something comparable or better for "about" (or "approx") that price, go for it! Just be happy with what you choose.

Info Wanted: 'ISO: USA Hockey 1980 Miracle on Ice'...
Time

The film Miracle and the HBO documentary entitled Do You Believe In Miracles? are nice ways to relive the excitement of this event. Unfortunately, neither DVD release includes the broadcast of the complete game vs. USSR as a bonus.

ESPN Classic has shown this game in the past. Has anyone captured it? Also, the final game vs. Finland would be nice to have, too.

And please don’t refer me to hdhockey.tv. This is an illegitimate operation and from what I’ve read is not to be trusted.

If you have any information for me, PM me please!

Actually, the thin "S" bar mimics the thin top "E" bar on the TESB logo. So there is precedent.

The "S bar" as I've come to call it is still too thick in this version though, I think. Does everyone agree I should make the bar thinner and then have the bottom bar the same thickness?

Definitely not. Any thinner would look even "quirkier". I believe this is the best thus far.

The titles of the two albums as listed on their spines:

1980 (RSO Records)
Star Wars/The Empire Strikes Back/"The Adventures of Luke Skywalker"

1983 (Buena Vista Records)
The Story of The Empire Strikes Back

I think that whatever I choose needs to retain "The Story of" somewhere in the title just for association (conformity) with SW and Jedi which are similarly named.
I say go with "The Story of The Empire Strikes Back" to avoid confusion (and long-windedness), and include info on the differing titles (plus sleeve scans) as extra content.

Who knows... maybe after Jedi I'll re-visit SW and do a v2 with 2.35:1 and GOUT to de-SE.

I have a t-shirt advert with my TSOSW vinyl that I didn't see included with the extras on your original production. I could scan it for your use on a v2 version of TSOSW. Or, if you want to include it with this TSOTESB release, that'll work. LMK.

BTW, I can't wait for Jedi particularly for the narrator. My friends and I used to imagine him as this neurotic chain-smoker who couldn't resist hyperbole. ("Jabba The Hutt, a bloated blob of disgusting flesh.") Unfortunately I lost my duped cassette 7 years ago and haven't heard him since.

Paint Wars: A New Hope

You should be able to restore the custom colors easily:
1. Open up an earlier picture with the correct/original color.
2. Click the eye-dropper tool ("Pick Color") and click on the color in the picture.
3. From the drop-down menu: Colors > Edit Colors...
4. Click "Define Custom Colors", click "Add to Custom Colors", and you've restored one.
5. Repeat as needed.

Surely nobody will get the wrong impression given that this decision comes four months into the announcement of your project.

My preference is 9A. I don't think the slants of B & C add anything. Also, I like "Star Wars" all together on the top line (as you have done so) instead of split on the top and bottom. As a title logo of a video box, it's perfect. However, I do think #5 needs to be retained for some uses where a more square logo would be approriate.

Nice work!

Personally, Adywan, I don't think you should consider it "profiting" by any means. This forum has traditionally been a very close-knit community...we help each other. Those who want to participate can, and those who don't, don't have to.

This would not be profiting from the release at all. First, there is a clear objective in collecting money (new hard drive) as opposed to the vague "for my time and services" reason that I've sadly seen from others. Second, when/if the new hard drive is paid for, you say so and then reject any pending PayPal payments. Clean conscience, easy as that!
