No, it's really up to you to care. Lucas can't make you. If he could do that then everyone would love Star Wars.

Obviously, if you don't care about Star Wars, then there's really nothing the movies or Lucas can do for you.

You have to enjoy great movies like these or you won't.
Absolutely! It's up to us to love and respect the saga. Luca$h just makes the movies, he doesn't have any influence on how you'll feel about them.

We have a duty to love the movies!

After all, Luca$h is only interested in expressing his "artistic" "vision" in the medium he knows best - film. He gets nothing out of it except the satisfaction of expressing himself.

He deserves total love and honour from everyone for creating these movies and then allowing them to be seen, even though, because they're so personal to him, he'd rather keep them to himself. His generosity is boundless!

Not only does he allow them to be seen, but he gives us the chance to see every version of them that he makes! We can pay to see them and then buy copies of them on video and now DVD. Every time he has new ideas he puts them out there for people to pay to see! He only does it because he loves the movies.

If we don't love them back it's like we're kicking him in the balls! And I can't believe that anyone here would want to do that!

I'm saying that was your job, and you weren't very good at it.
Well, as you and I know Go-Mer-Tonic, the technology just simply isn't available yet for Luca$h to create a true audience for the saga according to his "vision"!

This is one of the many reasons why the saga is still not out there as he wants it. But one day it will be. I think we both take comfort in that, right Go-Mer-Tonic?

I think many of you were totally out of line for giving him such a hard time in the Pearl Harbor thread. I'm really very glad that I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about!Originally posted by: Gaffer Tape
But I really don't want to see him leave.
Me neither!Originally posted by: Gaffer Tape
On the other hand, I really wish he hadn't made this "YAGE" thread.
Seconded.

Seriously, if Obi Jeewhyen is leaving (or "YAGEing", as he seems to prefer) because he finds the community here to be overly tolerant of name-calling and insults, how does he expect that to improve matters at all? Obviously the loss is not that great for him that he would stay. So why the "YAGE" thread? I honestly think that if such behaviour is sufficient to have him walk away then he might be happier not coming here any more. But I think it's sad he can't just brush it off and move on. It's Stinky Dinkins and Rob, for crying out loud! Laugh along or ignore it but don't, for goodness' sake, take it personally! That's like a red rag to a bull, man!

Personally i felt that the emotional angle of Anakin's turn-- an obsession to save a loved one from death which results in him selling his soul to protect Padme, only to have this very act kill her and thus leave him transformed into a monster--is the most brilliant stroke that Lucas came up with since he made Vader and Father Skywalker the same person in 1978. I have to say that I, personally, find it a bit of a stretch. I suppose my opinion is tainted by it's presentation, however. Divorced from the way it was played out in the movies and considered purely as the idea itself it does have merit.

My own idea is that Anakin joined with the Emperor to bring order to the galaxy and honestly believed that what he was doing was right. I think that the saving Padme route still leaves you with the moment when Anakin realises it was just a trick. I think it also feeds directly from the selfish brat character that Luca$h seemed to think was such a great direction to take the character of Luke's dad. Would ANH's Ben Kenobi have been friends with such a person? I think not!

Listen, if all you're going to do is preach, Mr Perfect, then I think you better had just go! I rather think that if you can't brush off some over the top name-calling from the likes of Mr Dinkins and Rob 'The Gay Wonder', let alone give back as good as you get, then you'd better quit for your own sake.

I mean come on! That's hilarious! Unless you burn with compassion for your amphibian friends, how could you take that as a serious insult?!!

And, yeah, what do you think about the "moon" "landing", Obi Jeewhyen?

George will never die until his vision has been realised! He will have his body frozen and order that he be revived only when technology has progressed to a stage whereby the SW saga can be completed according to his true vision!

It is you and I who will be gone, Mr Tonic, and Mr Luca$h who will have the last laugh! I just wish I could be there when the saga is finally finished...

Sorry...

I'm choking up a little here...

I promised myself I wouldn't cry!

No it's hollow for redeeming someone we were never introduced to.
I'm with you, here! I mean, who IS this Darth Vader that we're suddenly supposed to give a shit about? George knew this was a problem, 'cos it's that guy's story! It's all about Vader! So he had to fix this major, major problem that occurred due to studio interference and lack of time and the primitive technology he had to work with.

I mean, who wants to go back to the days when he had to cobble the character together from different actors?! Shoddy!!!

At least he does a good job at it.
Absolutley! And he still is! That's the great thing about George, is that he's not going to call it quits until the saga is just right! I'm just glad that he gives me the opportunity to pay to see his rough drafts every time they're done, so that I can keep up with his breakthroughs!

Listen guys, George was being easy on us with his "half-finished" assessment of the OT. There's a lot of work still to do to bring the OT to the standard set by the PT.

His vision is still not realised.

The techniques and facilities required to make Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader the central character of the saga just weren't available in 1977 - 1983. Hell, they aren't even available now! Until they are, tis saga will remain a glorious work in progress! A beautiful building site, if you will! Full of promise!
