In my personal opinion, growing up in the prequel era along with SE versions only, I like the colder and controlled tone of the new line.

I would think growing up in the prequel era, you would prefer Darth Vader to be hard-to-control and quick to anger as Hayden Christensen portrayed Anakin. If anything, I think the way Vader delivers "Bring me my shuttle" is one of the more quintessentially Anakin-sounding lines.

I love when people without any talent tell someone who's deeply invested in a personal project that "you have too much free time." I saw someone leave a comment like that once on a video of a voice-activated entry system a guy designed and installed on his dorm room door. The guy responded, "I'm a graduate student at MIT. The last thing I have is free time."

Apparently, in America guys are only allowed to spend their free time binge-drinking, pwning n00bs in Call of Duty, and hooking up with girls who lack self-esteem.

Keep up the great work, ady.

The fact of the matter is ady didn't add any shadow that wasn't already there. What you see is shadow naturally cast by the off-center key light and hood. Doesn't it stand to reason that "fixing" the right eye would make the image unnatural?

But seriously, why are we expending pages of effort refuting one guy's opinion on a scene? :/

I totally share your sentiment, muddyknees. I never noticed the majority of mistakes and gaffes mentioned here. But like Bingowings said, despite enjoying the films warts 'n all, it's an incredibly satisfying experience watching Revisited. It's the difference between Leonardo's The Last Supper, before and after its restoration. It was enjoyed and appreciated for centuries, but after a painstaking restoration, it's clear just how much people were missing, though they likely never realized it.

I think it's a fine line to walk. Examining the films under a microscope is what has lead to some of Ady's incredible improvements, so it's hard for me to agree with any sentiment that implies people should just shut up and be happy with what they get. Such complacency is not in most of our DNA.

But there's a point of diminishing returns, like when you're analyzing and arguing over the same minute of footage for 2 weeks or rehashing year-old debates without bringing anything new to the discussion.

It's a fine line, but ultimately we're all here because we love this series and we love this project. Heated debate won't change that, so long as we all recognize when it's time to let it go.

adywan, I'm actually speechless after watching the high bitrate clip (the only way to watch your previews, as far as I'm concerned, so I wait for them rather than let facebook or youtube mitigate my first impression). I did watch the comparison, and more than any other video it shows just how much thinking, planning, and effort you've put into this project. It's apparent just how many hundreds (thousands?) of individual tricks and tweaks we're seeing flit by in the space of a couple minutes.

I immediately noticed the facial movements, and I think they are chillingly effective because they are restrained.  Anything more obvious would get in the way. I think some of the reactions are proof of just how much expectation plays into perception. It's like it's hard to see the wizard the same way after peeking behind the curtain. I think constructive criticism is good and I like to see people push you toward besting yourself, but I think this is a case where the criticism is a result of knowing how it was done, making the eye hyper-sensitive as compared to a new viewer who was none the wiser. It's not really that there is anything to fix.

I apologize for bringing up old issues, but Adywan, your bank account is already empty? What happened to that money I gave you? That wasn't exactly chump change. You spent it all, already? I don't think you got my email, but I did say I would prefer you spend that on computer storage than stuff to make that damn wampa, which I am still reluctant to believe you can pull off.

What nerve. I mean seriously. He's going to build the "damn wampa" and spend money on his computer, so just imagine each night when you crawl in bed that he's spending it on what you want him to spend it on. When the project is done, it won't matter whose money went to what. It all went to the project.
