20 years ago, would anyone believe...

All of these things are good points and they all point to the one inherent flaw in the Prequel Trilogy that is responsible for all other flaws -

If you had seen the Original Trilogy and knew even a smattering of the back story not mentioned in the movie (such as the intro from the original SW novelization regarding Palpatine), nothing could have prepared you for what would eventually be put into the prequels.

It would be like if you heard all about a movie that was coming out soon, heard little bits and pieces and connected some dots in your head, and then when the movie came out, all the movie was was video of a person in a bathroom, pooping. You heard stuff about Clone Wars, Mandalorian battle armor, the Old Republic, Anakin being a great pilot, etc. and then you go watch video of pooping.

Okay, it wasn't quite that dramatic of a difference, but the PT was definitely not what people expected to see given all of the "canonical" information provided in the OT and sundry early sources.

I'll add some items to this growing list:

- That the clones in the Clone Wars were all clones of Boba Fett's father.
- That there weren't several genetic fathers/mothers for clones.
- That there wasn't at least one cloned Jedi/Sith warrior.
- That Boba Fett's armor was not Mandalorian battle armor, as used by many soldiers in the Clone Wars (didn't everyone think that to begin prior to the PT?) but instead a dirty looking version of his father's shiny suit.
- That Palpatine dreamed up an overly elaborate scheme to pit an expensive robotic army (paid for by him?) against an expensive clone army (paid for by him?), all to destabilize society enough for him to sneakily snatch power over the course of several years, rather than staging a military coup with his combined forces.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
Hey Trooperman,

I just got done watching the trailer.

Like everyone else has said so far, some of the voice acting was a little too deep and just a little too unbelievable for it to come out of the actor's mouth.

That being said, however, some of the voice acting was spot on - specifically, "I'm here to see my mother" and "I hope you like flying." It was different enough from Hayden's to be good, and more fitting with Sebastian Shaw's voice, but not so different as to be jarring or stand out. You are obviously capable of making that voice - just do it more now.

Other than the pitch of some of your lines, which can be easily corrected, the only thing that stood out to me was Shmie's (sp?) scream - sounds too much like a stock sound effect, and a little too shrill and different from the actress's voice to be believable.

As for the rest, the Dune cockpit shot fit right in (to my surprise ), the color changes were great, the blue sabre was nice, and overall it was awesome. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Nice bit at the end with the notes.

Congratulations! This one seems like a winner so far. Maybe we'll finally have the sequel to Balance Of The Force.

Burning Dual-Layer Discs For The First Time
Time
Okay, so I F'd up.

On the first DL DVD I burned, I did not set Layer 0's sectors at the correct number, resulting in a bad, rough layer break. The movie plays fine up until the layer break, but then it becomes pixelated and the sound sketches out while the player finds the resume point.

I already deleted the VOB files and everything else from my original source.

Is there a way to rip the DVD again and reburn it, putting in the correct layer break information? Or in my hastiness did I corrupt my DVD files and their architecture and now need to download the 7 GB torrent all over again in order to get a good, seamlessly-playing DVD out of this?

I am not very familiar with PgcEdit and its capabilities, so I am reluctant to go playing around with it without advance knowledge of what I am doing.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

It sounds like you've been doing your job right then - it shouldn't feel like a modern movie trailer if you are making this into an "old school" Star Wars movie. I am really excited to see what this looks like!

Are you going on vacation?

Bummer but I think I found a font that will work...

So, I'll change the title of the thread

Glad you found something that would work! What are you working on, out of curiousity?

Doctor Who covers for the complete series (starting in 63')

Dang! That will be a big project! Good luck!

Can anyone make me a title crawl?

Is this the one you used?

Burning Dual-Layer Discs For The First Time
Time
Okay, I have never burned DL DVD's before, so I want to know if there is anything different I need to do from single layer discs.

Here is my situation:
- Nero 7 Premium
- Lite-On DL DVD-RW Burner
- Verbatim DL discs

Example:
Suppose hypothetically that I am about burn, say, ADM's Harry Potter 4 Extended Edition. It is a 6.94 GB DVD. Can I just pop my blank disc in, add the Video_TS folder to the compilation in Nero, and be good to go? Or do I need to do something extra?

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to take a look at this yet. Maybe tonight. Router just might need a swift boot to the head. Hopefully I'll get a chance to fix it soon.

Two things that threw me off that you may also have wrong -

- I had to restart my torrent program for it (and MySpleen) to read the port as open.
- I had to make sure that my actual computer on the network was selected for the open port profile (torrent1). My firewall had defaulted to its own name (I think - CHX-142 or CVX or something - almost like a droid name) rather than the computer name for the open port profile, so the computer port was still closed.
- PS - my standard "vanilla" BitTorrent works fine.

Thanks so much to you and everyone else for their help. I can't believe that I had gotten 70 GB down without doing this already. Port forwarding rules!
