That would be fine, but DVD Shrink doesn't create an accurate duplicate of the original files.

Neither does Nero Recode, and that's the whole point -- we're talking about reencoding MPEG2 video to fit a single-layer disc.

Oh, I misunderstood - yeah, DVD Shrink would work fine for shrinking those files down.

I know it sounds funny, but I've always heard that for copying DVD files, just to get an accurate copy, you should filter your copy through a program like DVD Decryptor/ImgBurn, since just a simple copy and paste from a DVD can bring slight corruption, enough for the torrent to be off.

When I first started burning DVDs, I had this same problem. For whatever reason, DVD Shrink does NOT make an accurate byte-for-byte copy of DVD files, even without compression. Use DVD Decryptor or ImgBurn instead for an accurate recreation. Also, DVD Shrink will not copy any DVD-ROM files, either - only the VIDEO_TS folder files, so you're SOL there too.

I understand completely - that wasn't my next question, actually. I already know better.

Just keep up the good work! Thanks for all you do!

I am looking for someone who would be interested in taking on a Star Wars title crawl project that may be challenging, but interesting. I do not yet have the skills to put together a replacement title crawl, but I think that this project would not be overly difficult to someone who has experience. The most difficult part would be finding/making a vector image for a replacement of a certain thing in the crawl. Anyone who thinks they might have the madskillz (to pay the billz) should pm/email me for more information. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I briefly considered doing what Trooperman did, but ultimately decided that moving forward was more important than keeping the joke.

Small delay with the video quality of the crawl... should have it ironed out in the next couple days. Otherwise, I'm very happy with how it looks, even on the single layer dvd.

What's the status on this project, Slumberland?

Info & Offer: ANH CBS Anniversary Airing w/ bumpers and commercials... for anyone?

Okay - the quality is pretty good on my "copy" considering the age. Unfortunately, my tape has nothing to really identify it's age, so far as I can tell, other than my memory. It is definitely pre-1986 and taped from TV, though.

I've not had a chance to watch this in full, but do you know if the movie was edited for length in any spots?

I say work with the scene and see what you can do with it as far as subtitles - if it works, keep it - if it doesn't pitch it. As long as you're revamping everything, why not see if you can salvage this too through the magic of editing.

I may be able to help out with that as well, although the nature of the film, with the ridiculous costumes and cartoonish Gungans, will probably make it impossible to achieve the level of Ep. II. This is stuff that you can't take out. Portman's awful accent, Jake Lloyd, the whole boring plot... the list goes on and on. The visual design in Ep. II was such that what was already there could be altered so much that it seems to fit in the OT style, with the exception of Anakin's stupid ponytail. How I wish I could digitally erase that! What Ep. I will have going for it, though, is an intriguing storyline set up through subtitles (kind of like MagnoliaFan's), great music, and a good, quick pace. I really enjoyed the Ep. I opening that PaulisDead posted in his thread; it would start the saga on an exciting note. "

Who is working on Episode I right now? Just curious.

"I'd rather it not be thought of that way, because that wasn't really the goal. MagnoliaFan did give me a couple great bits of advice on this, but this isn't meant to supplant "The Clone War". Rather, this is a completely new deal."

Point taken - sorry about that.

It will be interesting to see what bits of Star Wars are glimpsed in the film. Since it's set in 1977, you can't simply throw the special edition in there.

I hadn't heard of this movie till you guys started talking about it - sounds interesting. Good point about the scenes that will (or won't) show up.
