You forgot to convert British mbaud to American mbaud. They only have 7 and 1/3 bits in their bytes, so it's roughly a 1.6:1 ratio. Also, the distances are actually longer since they use KM in lieu of miles, so you have to factor that in as well.

By my math, that means that their 24mb is actually the same as our -5.4mb. Assuming that they're still using imperial seconds, that is.

Well if your 5.4mb can download a 4.5gb iso in around 20 minutes then yes it is the same ;)

We're just getting 100mb fibre optic broadband here so i'm preying that BT get their finger out of their ass and start laying some optics in places other than the southern regions

I was paying £25 per month for an up to 8mb connection when it was supposed to be an unlimited usage connection until they changed it. You can get up to 24mb broadband now for around £6.99 per month if you take the providers phone package too, but you only get the cheaper faster service if you phone exchange has been enabled. If it hasn't then you are stuck with the slower more expensive providors

Tarkin in the clone wars.

One thing that gets me is that they have managed to make chewies face look like he does in the OT yet lucasfilm made him look completely different for ROTS.I never understood how they could get the face so wrong in ROTS.

The carbon freezing plot is bloody ridiculous though and completely ruins the danger of Han getting frozen in ESB. Lando says that if they put Luke in there it might kill him, so Vader tests it out on Han. Why would he have bothered if he knew it was a safe procedure? And they have Ugnaughts controlling the carbon chamber in TCW so you could take it that they are some sort of experts at carbon freezing, so no danger then. I have a bad feeling that Lucas will add more dialogue in the blu-ray version of ESB:

Lando: "You put him in there it might kill him.

Vader: "no, i've done it myself, it's perfectly safe"

As much as i like TCW, there are moments that just scream fanwank

GOUT, Automated Theatrical Colouring, and a Reference Guide
Time

Here's my attempt at colour boosting the GOUT:

(warning it's a very large image)

http://img573.imageshack.us/i/goutcolourboost.jpg/

Now every shot has the same settings. All i did was this in After effects:

First i added the levels filter & very slightly lowered the white level (this eliminates blown out high levels that can be caused by the next step), then added the colour correction filter & very slightly lower the red highs & midtones to make the white point white instead of having the red tint. Next i added the hue/saturation filter & boosted the saturation level to +26. last step was to add another hue/saturation filter and lower the red saturation to -23. Boosting the saturation levels any more in step 2 and the colours are just too oversaturated and it looks horrible.

This worked for the entire move apart from one scene which was the lars homestead sale. This already seems to have the blues boosted so all that would need doing for this scene would be to drop the blue & cyan saturation to equal levels (about-11 each). there is already some nasty video noise in the sky tones for this scene in a few shots so not much can be done about that. I have made a preset that can be loaded straight into after effects is anyone is interested in it.

Of course it makes sense.

I've thrown away just about every free CD I've ever been handed. Only listened to about half of them. Giving it away diminishes the perceived value off the bat. (Case in point: eiyosus has linked to an undoubted boundless universe of free music...that I am in no way whatsoever interested in accessing, because the price ($0) is a reliable signal of the likely value of the content (zilch).)

And besides, production value is important, and if the investment into it has been made, it has to be recouped.

Thats got to be the biggest load of rubbish i have read. Just because something is free doesn't mean that it's going to be crap. So you're not interested in any music unless it has high production values and a lot of money was ploughed into it? Well you are missing out on a lot of great music. I guess you're only into all this Pop Idol type crap then? Just because something has had a high end production job doesn't mean that its going to be great music or a great artist. Most likely nowadays its the opposite. Look at all the great music around from great artist that have stood the test of time. Many times they just went into a studio, played the songs and things were recorded on the fly. Production values mean crap. If it's a good song then it wouldn't matter if it had a million pound spent on production or it was recorded in one take in a studio.

There are shit loads of great artists out there that just don't get a chance to break into the industry because reality TV like Pop idol and the X-factor have all but killed the music industry, not piracy. Most bands/ artists are manufactured nowadays and are just puppets of the record industry, told what to sing and how to sing it. The only people making any money out of the record industry now are the record companies. Musicians only make money now from touring.

So what are these artists supposed to do now the industry is so tightly closed? The internet has allowed people to get their music heard. And they can give it away for free. So does this make their music crap. hell no. Even some of the larger established artists are starting to give away their tracks/ albums for free now on the net

Anyway this thread has gone so far off topic its time to bring it back.

Now we know that Luke constructing his lightsabre has been confirmed, there's another scene i really hope that they include in the deleted scenes of the OT. And that is the Dagobah lightsabre training from ESB. After coming across these photos the other day, the scene has been filmed:

Beru's voice

Here's the blurb from the 'Star Wars Aficionado - Making of SW 2004/5 & 2007 update' segment on the subject: (nothing definitive)

April (EXACT DATES UNKNOWN)

LARS HOMESTEAD - KITCHEN INTERIOR

One day was spent filming the scene of Shelagh Fraser as Beru talking to Own in their Kitchen, and an additional scene, later cut from the final theatrical cut, of Beru using a milk dispenser. Fraser's voice would be dubbed for the film's release by an unknown actress (who would then be re-dubbed herself, for unknown reasons, for the STAR WARS TV version in 1982, before having her voice returned for the 1997 SPECIAL EDITION re-release).

redubbed for the 1982 TV version? Oh, how wrong that article is. The TV version used the mono mix so i wouldn't trust that article,

She appeared in an episode of The Professionals in the 1970's, which was on TV sometime last year. I did have it on my SKY= box, but accidental deleted it. She didn't have a strong accent in it but more of a generic "film" British accent and , from what i can remember, sounded very similar to the voice used in the stereo mix. If the episode airs again i'll do some proper comparisons

EDIT: i've found an episode she was in online. Here's the clip:

Either way, that's awesome! Is it gibberish, or did you give him lines?

I think there is a slight difference but i can't be sure. Erikstormtrooper would probably be able to clear that up. And, yes, R2 has lines.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Actually i hardly touched the X-wing displays apart from giving them the correct TIE fighter graphic. They look virtually the same apart from that. I didn't touch the TIE displays because we see the same displays in the jedi starfighter in ROTS. And i also only changed the briefing room display and added the holographic table for the rebels, but left all the others alone and i did enhance the death star control room displays slightly but gave the death star countdown a whole new updated display.

So I finally got to watch the DVD-9 version. I don't know if it was just my computer or what... but I noticed several changes to the audio that I didn't expect. Can anyone tell me if those were intentional?

I noticed it twice. In both instances, the dramatic music seems to have decreased in volume, and it's almost difficult to hear. I played the SL DVD afterward to make sure it wasn't my imagination, and there's definitely a difference.

1. When Vader throws Capt. Antilles after choking him.

2. When the door to Leia's cell closes after she sees the mind probe.

So you're saying that it sounds fine on the SL DVD yet there is a problem on the DVD-9?

Zombie, i noticed something you wrote in the technicolour screening section

3) Also, there has been some debate over what colour the Death Star interiors should be. Most fan preservations try to get it grey; Adywan was famously a stickler to get totally neutral colours.

This wasn't done because i thought that's how it originally looked, as can be seen in my AVCHD 1080p version. It was a creative decision because i wanted it to look grey and drab to give a militaristic feel, like the inside of a submarine.

yeh, I haven't changed anything in the description.

It was actually done because i was having an argument with someone years ago about how the music that was composed originally to fit with each paragraph of the crawl would no longer work with the crawls for any other of the movies because the paragraphs were different length. I said they could be re-timed and set out to prove my point. This was around the time i started on ESB:R. Although i do miss the fact that the original cues were screwed up ever since they added the titles, it isn't something i would ever really consider doing

Just found something on an old external drive that i did when i first started ESB:R. When i was doing ANH:R i really wanted to have the crawl as it appeared in 1977 without the episode number or title. but decided to scrap the idea due to the crawls on the rest of the saga. When i started ESB:R i decided to do a test to see what it would look like having the crawl match the original 1997 ANH one. I really liked the idea of not having the title or episode number in every crawl and that the crawl would fit back in to the original music cues to how it was originally written. But i dropped it because i had already done ANH:R with the titles. But now i'm going to be redoing ANH:R in 720p i could go back to my original idea.

Oh good. IMHO you should do this for all three films... the long long long long credits of forum-names on ANH:R is pretty ridiculous.

I don't think it is ridiculous at all. The input i received from people here when i was doing ANH:R was invaluable and i thought it only fair that they be included in the credits. It was too difficult to keep track on who input what or who just posted to say hello etc so i included everyone up until a certain date. The same thing with ESB:R, but this time i noticed that there were some people just coming in without saying anything that would contribute to the edit, that seemed more like they wanted to get their names in the credits and some even admitted as such. But, as i promised to include everyone in the ESB:R credits, i will stick to my word and they will appear, but this will stop from ROTJ:R onwards

1. What you are seeing is the overlaying of the monitor bleeding over the top of the outer rim of the panel. It's been fixed

2. you are seeing the light from the outside of the chamber reflecting on the chamber as the door fully opens

I know that Ady hasn't done any work at all on the audio yet, all audio in clips is temp, etc. That being said...

I've been watching Building Empire (currently on part 13 on youtube), and there have been several moments of "Restored Score", where portions of Williams' score were excised the final cut of ESB. I suppose that's director's choice, but I quite like some of them. Any word on Ady's thoughts on restoring some of the missing bits of the fantastic score?

No, i'm not restoring any of the unused score

Anyone have an HD source of REVENGE OF THE SITH? He could probably use some of those elements from the deleted Dagobah scene for some the Dagobah creatures in ESB. If he likes those enough, that is.

The deleted scenes are only available in SD but i don't want to use any of those creatures anyway

DarthBo said:

First the announcement of ANH:R Special Edition, and now you're adding extra CG creatures?

I'm not sure I like where this is going!

I love how people complain about something before they even know what it is. All i'm doing is adding some small insects and other small creatures to dagobah. Nothing will be in your face but just there to give dagobah a little more life. Certainly no glowing creatures like in the ROTS deleted scene.

The Aluminum Falcon said:

Agreed. Some of the Super 8/70mm dialog sounds better delivered, at least to my ears. Adywan, are you planning on using some of these alternate deliveries?

The quality of the available 70mm sources is horrible and could never be used in the movie. There are a few lines on the "story of.." LP, but the music over the top of the lines kinda rules them out. But theres only two lines i would like to use anyway.

The Aluminum Falcon said:

Also, I was wondering, and forgive me if this has been mentioned before but, Adywan, are you going to show the rebel fleet jumping to lightspeed just before the credits or not? Lastly, with the theatrical ESB bootleg being released, would you consider, color timing the Revisited edit to match this? Though I'm not sure if video degradation might cause inaccurate colors...

No, i won't be having them jump to lightspeed

And i have stated recently that ESB will have a new colour pallet compared to what has been seen already on the AVCHD & theatrical version and even the clips that have been shown. But working from a bootleg would never be a wise thing to do when colour correcting something

no, there won't be an updated credits list for ANH:RHD. There will only be additions if its for people who are directly involved with anything i need help with when doing the HD version.

In fact the way the credits list is created will be totally changed when i get around to ROTJ:R. It will feature only people who have had a direct input in the edit by working on it or helping out in some other way, but not just for inputting suggestions. The credits list is becoming longer and longer each edit, with many posting a comment just to get on the credits list. It's become a nightmare to keep track on everything so it has to get shrunk down. It will now only have a general "thanks to everyone at OT.com....etc" sort of thing.

I posted my comment when the article first went up. I was not the only one to have had their comments removed at this time, as has already been stated here by others. There were posts after mine that heavily criticized the article, which none were abusive or contained any bad language, but were deleted. It was only later that the real negative comments were left alone.

Back then, I've left a whole bunch of comments and responses there, each last of them negative, derisive and snarky, and yet none of them has been removed to this day as far as I can tell - the only ones that hadn't been published in the first place, had cuss words in them.

I then had a brief exchange with the admin, and he confirmed that my post was deleted because of profanity, and they basically only deleted messages when they violate their rules of conduct.

So could it be that Adywan just swore a lot? Because they're obviously not removing comments for criticism and snarky attitude... in that case, I'd say don't count with his comments being "reposted" :D

He can, of course, resubmit them without the cuss words anytime :D

There was not a single swear word, or anything that could be mistaken for a swear word in my response. It merely blew his pathetic theories out of the water using facts that are out there from interviews etc and not some made up rubbish like his article was. It was removed for no reason at all. I didn't even verbally attach the writer of the original article in my response, just showed him that his interpretations were wrong. Nothing i wrote would have violated their rules of conduct.

I have no interest in resubmitting my response only for it to be deleted again.

Not really. In the cut scene 3P0 was clearly shot outside against a real background, while the commercial is clearly a set. Also the cave entrance in the commercial is a different shape altogether.

Sorry to backtrack to this topic again Ady, but it's just that I think your version of the holo scene (received for a donation) was damn near perfect.

This latest version has his right eye so dark it seems like he's got a black eye, and that smile (in my opinion) doesn't belong there.

As always, it's your edit, but I just wanted to clarify that I never complained about your first edit of this epic scene.

I think your seeing something that isn't there. Both eyes are actually lighter in the final version than they ever were in the donator clip. The smile reflects the way he smiles in ROTJ and also a nod to the original. The 2004 version was just so unemotional that he looked like he was falling asleep. Also i don't see why you thought you needed to clarify that you never complained about the first clip.

Of course you can discuss opinions. Isn't that what a forum is for. If people really don't want anyone to discuss their opinions then maybe they should not post them in the first place. Everything is open for discussion in here.

Actually Grythandril is right. The schematics shows clearly the intention of the filmakers and the low budget flipped shots of the bridges

I suggested ages ago ady erase/paint the bounty hunter shots where the plate is static with a more open area like we see in the establishing shot but i think i took the answer that the bounty hunter meeting wasnt supposed to be in the bridge. The cropped version works perfectly :)

Making this part wider eliminates any continuity error

-Angel

Whoever did those schematics really needs to watch the movie again. The layout of the walls/ doors is completely incorrect.

The bounty hunter scene is not supposed to be taking place on the bridge. You can see that the windows have been blocked out by adding panels and in the wide shot you can see they added a wall to the left side. You can also see the section where the bounty hunter scene takes place during the commander hologram scene just prior to Vaders conversation with the Emperor, as the windows have the same panelling. With the changed background when you see vader walk off at the end there is no continuity errors between the sets now
