It seems strange that they would do this a few months before the Blu-Rays are released. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that this is because they know they will be getting a lot of flak when they are released from OT fans. But who knows.

That was a different April 1st ;)

I've been busy modifying the Revell AT-AT model. It's still a long way from being finished but i thought i'd post some pics of it's progress.

As you can see the head needed a lot of work because the original (top picture) was so incorrect. It's still unfinished as there is a lot of tidying up work to do but it's now very close to the original filming model. The two side guns were originally able to move but were both positioned at a different angle to one another and couldn't be moved independently. They can now move separately. The main underside guns were fixed but they can now be moved like the filming model. The two domes either side of the head where the guns are mounted were originally flat so i had to remodel them to be more dome shaped. Also the underside flaps either side of the head were originally very flat and not angled like the studio model so those had to be completely redone. Also, as you can see, the face had to be rebuilt from scratch

I'm working on the legs now. I'm making them fully posable and correcting the mistakes so it will match the studio model

That's the price for the original revell kit that i have. I don't think he's selling the mod. Certain sections i will be leaving as they are now because this will only be seen from the front and not really closeup

@ady - I told you to forget it. I am advising you to be very careful. Your post above ("idiotic moderation") was bordering on a personal attack.

I stress I am not joking or pulling a prank; I will not hesitate in giving you a temp ban if you keep this up.

keep what up? Can i  no longer speak my mind around here? Is it fair that i get a warning for posting something in my own thread while others can do what they want and not get this warning. And poor forum moderation shouldn't  be an excuse. You already stated that you were doing this to make an example of me so why the fuck i should be expected to let this rest when i was singled out for having a little fun in my own thread. you just wanted to single me out to teach others a lesson and nothing more. You're starting to act like a power mad forum nazi and if this is how this bloody site is going to be run then do whatever you want. You'll just prove yourself to be an jobsworthy knob.

Ady, not sure if you visit the Starship Modeler site,...lots of reference photos & good links for resource material for your M.Falcon & the AT-AT, heres some modification to the recent Revell Walker kit:

http://www.starshipmodeler.com/starwars/ms_atat.htm

J

I've seen a few of the Revell kit modifications and they all seem to make the same errors. The two semicircle pieces either side of the head should be more dome shaped, there is a piece at the front middle of the head, between the guns, that should be slanted and not flat with the face, the rear section of the head they add should be wider to overlap the straight piece that runs from the gun to the back of the head and they all seem to miss out the extra pieces at the top of each leg

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!

Leonardo said:

yes but, Ady, the difference between colour and sound and 3d movies is that while eventually colour and sound catched on, 3d didn't catch on in the 50's, nor in the 70's or 80's. What makes you think it's gonna catch on now, apart from the technology being ready? people are already tired of it.

Well for one the red/blue glasses effect was pretty crap and that was the main reason why it didn't catch on. And most of the 3D movies of the time just had gimmicky things coming at the screen just to say "3D". i know some movies now are doing the same thing but the 3D technology today is so much better and, when done correctly, the 3D effect can really enhance the experience of a movie. And now 3D TVs are becoming as cheap as ordinary 2D TV's more and more people are going to buy into the 3D experience, especially when more movies are becoming available in 3D. Plus the newer "glasses free" TV's are becoming available which i know that many people like 3D but just hate wearing the glasses

Yes, i'm still in the process of building it. The pic was only my April fools joke for this year because i didn't have enough time to prepare anything, but it's kind of god overshadowed by what's just happened with Moth3rs warning.  the original model kit was a little more inaccurate than i though so a few more modifications needed before it's screen ready. I'll post some pics soon

Well i was hoping that you were just pulling an April fools prank but this is fucking ridiculous. These new rules are killing this site. If this is the way this site is going then i really don't give a shit if you give me a ban. I use to have a lot of respect for you Moth3r, but all these warnings for the smallest little thing is pathetic. So i'm being made an example of? Well i don't fucking care. It was just one unrelated post that i have made in how many posts? If i wanted this sort of fucking idiotic moderation then i would be sucking ass over at tfn. Moth3r, chill the fuck out. I was just having some fun. I thought that because it was april 1st that you would be a little relaxed on the rules but i'm sorry to say it, but i  guess that  fun isn't allowed here any more. Do what you want i really don't give a shit anymore as i've got more important things to worry about than having any sort of fun taken away from me today of all days just because a mod wants to lay down the rules for one little incident. I've got the facebook site now so at least i won't have someone trying to make an example of me over there for nothing more than to make a point to others

Look Ady, your AT-AT image was funny, but how the f*ck is that video related to ESB:R?

You know it really annoys me when others post off-topic crap in your thread - I thought as the thread originator you would try and set an example.

Well I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to make an example of you. In accordance with the posting guidelines, I'm now giving you a formal warning for making an off-topic post. I can't allow you to get away with it just because you're a major contributor, the rules apply to you just as much as anyone else. I trust you'll understand.

Seriously? I post one off topic link IN MY OWN THREAD and you give me a warning, yet others have got away with it for ages? So i'm being singled out to be made an example of ? I know the guidelines so there was no need to remind me but i don't see what is such a big deal doing this in my own thread. Jesus, this place is becoming as bad as tfn with their forum nazis. The new rules just suck and it's taking all the fun out of here. no wonder this place is just full of people arguing all the time and being assholes to one another.

3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED!

I really can't see why some people have such a huge problem with movies being done in 3D. It's not as if you HAVE to watch the 3D version (ok apart from Star Wars, but what's new there). Anytime a 3D movie is released in theatres there is also the option to watch it in 2D. It's a choice. If you don't like 3D then you don't have to watch it. It's the same when they are released on Blu-Ray.

I don't think that 3D is just a fad this time. It's here to stay and i, for one, love it. Some conversions are pretty crappy and give you a headache but when they are done properly they can look really good. It's the same old argument with film-makers that's been going on since the early days of cinema. First it was  sound, then it was complaints about the use of colour in films taking away the artform, then digital and on and on...... Things evolve and things change

Well i've finished the AT-AT. It was a difficult build because the model kit had so many sections that were far from screen accurate, but i think i've got it accurate enough to hold up against the studio models. I've even added a form of mechanism into it so that it will give the impression that it is walking without having to resort to stop motion, which will be good enough for the fleeting moments this model will be seen

FINISHED AT-AT

I think you have misunderstood my post jeyl. i wasn't aiming this at you. it was a general comment about how the smallest criticism seems to spiral out of control into a flame war between members recently. A simple comment about someone not liking the trooper quickly turned into a " same type of addition as the Ronto" and the old "your doing the same as GL but he gets slated for it" argument. It's getting tiresome. It never use to be this way (well apart from one or two things here and there).

And i didn't disregard your comment because it didn't crop up on the earlier video. Its just that you were the only person to have ever brought this point up when a lot of people have seen both this video and the earlier one and the only comment was about the static trooper. And that is why i'm not going to change it. I like it and i don't feel that it ruins anything in that shot or the transition to the next. If i was to change my mind about things i have done just because one or two people don't like something then i would never finish this thing as i would be constantly changing things because no one would like something i change, while other would. It's  a never ending circle.

Perhaps Auggie has used a -R by accident.

I think its more likely the same problem other people who have the same player have had. His exact problem has been reported here, and how to fix it:

That doesn't make sense.  Most fanedits are DVD compliant.  I can see you having an issue with AVCHD, or other formats like avi, but DVDs (including ANHR) should work on pretty much any player.

Sony doesn't support standard DVD format?  Somehow I doubt that...

What? Really? It plays fine on my samsung blu-ray player. I don't see how that's even possible.

Oh, it plays store bought DVD's fine, but pop in a fan edit, and all it says is "unknown". Firm ware has been updated, and I have tried it on other Sony Blu-ray players and it still wont work. I have a Sony BDP-S350.

Seems to work on most standard dvd players though except for the SONY brands. Haven't found a Sony brand yet that will play it, including the Playstation 3. It will; however, play on my Denon. I have been told that Sony doesn't support Piracy, so they don't include the mpeg codecs that fan edits use on their players. Mpeg codecs are not all the same, even if they are dvd compliant. If I'm not mistaken Ady uses Directshow pro for all of his encoding, and those mpeg codecs it uses are not supported my SONY.

Now dvd Rips are a different story, they work on any sony player, because the codecs don't change when you rip and burn to another disc. I have tried many of those with great success.

I hope the AVCHD codecs that Directshow pro uses are supported by Sony, or I'm going to have to settle with the DVD-9 and just play it on m dvd only Denon.

What? I have a Sony DVD player and it plays just fine. i also have a PS3 and no problems there. Also my dad has a Sony Blu-Ray player and it plays without problems.  I don't know where you get Directshow Pro from because i use Procoder 3 for my Mpeg encoding. If there was any truth in what you had been told about Sony not supporting mpeg2 codecs then there would be an uproar on the net about this because that would mean that anyone who wanted to transfer their home movies from their camcorders etc would never be able to play them. So whoever told you that is a complete bullshitter.  Plus i would have received many complaints from Sony users that ANH:R didn't work in their players, which i have not.

Plus i think you should read this:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-players-recorders/119827-problems-sony-bdp-s350.html

looks to me like it is your player and nothing to do with "fan edit" discs at all

What the hell is happening in here? First it was the Format argument and then it quickly became the "Ronto trooper" flame war.I don't want to have to wade through all this kind of  crap everytime i come in.

And this trooper thing has me surprised. I released a clip a long time ago of the hangar entrance and the added troopers were in the but the only comments ever made about it was about the trooper i added next to the turret that was looking through the binoculars. Not one comment about the troopers that walk into shot for the last few frames. Well i'm not changing it, and how the hell can this be compared to the bloody Ronto shot?

Ady, do you have any idea how big the 720p MKV file would be? I'm hoping for at least 4GB :)

Nice bacta tank screens!

I'm still not sure if i will go with a mkv release, but if i did it would be a lot bigger than 4GB. I won't know exactly what i am doing until everything is finished and i then see what the best format for the  HD version will be.

greedo said:

won't the extras be on PAL dvd-9 as well?

most probably not and the special features disc will only be a DVD-5

ImperialFighter said:

...not counting the DVD-5 for your ESB:R 'behind-the-scenes' features, am I right to assume the others listed will be the same proposed formats for all your future edits too then adywan?

Yes. Whichever formats i go with for this edit will then be the set formats for the whole Revisited saga

Well i think i'm going to transfer them all over to the facebook site. I'm just fed up of spending ages uploading to youtube only to have it blocked automatically and then getting hundreds of messages from people saying they can't view it.

It's getting really pathetic on that site now. I can't even view videos that channel 4 own the copyright to because it's block in my country, but this is one of my countries free channels and the rest of the world is able to view them. It's madness.

Siliconmaster482 said:

As much as I understand your frustrations with youtube, it's unfortunate that you'll no longer be using it at all. Facebook's resolution for videos is just so terrible D:

I have seen no evidence of that. I upload HD files there and when viewing in full screen its far superior to that of You-tube and facebook's video compression is far better than You tube's too. At least facebook doesn't change the colouring of videos like you-tube has for me.
