I have the Sumvision Cyclone MKV 2 media enclosure and this seems to play anything i throw at it (apart from files that have used the newer mkvmerge with its compression header, but running it though an older version first, which only takes a few seconds and everything plays fine). It outputs DTS fine. You can either stick  a drive into the enclosure, use an external hard drive , or both. transferring files is easy as you just plug it into the PC or use it over a network.

Considering the item description do you think this is worth a low bid?

Does it sound easy to fix?

How often would you need to use the eject button anyway?

The eject button is on the side underneath the side panel so you can easily slot in a 3.5" hard drive.  But if that is broke then the hard drive won't be secure as this hold the hard drive in place. You can always attach a couple of external hard drives though. The wi-fi dongle is a nice little addition, but if you want to stream 1080p mkv's then it would be better streaming over Ethernet.  It looks like the MKV2 is getting harder to find on the net now. Probably because the new Primus models have now come out, but these no longer have ethanet or any buttons on the box. But if you are going to bid on that mkv2 enclosure on ebay then i wouldn't go over about £45 as i don't think it would be worth it with the damage, unless you only wanted to use external drives

It isn't a flame war. This is civil. I am just expressing how I think J T34 has been treated unfairly. Everyone just kind of ganged up on him.

He ignored anyone that didn't agree with him and even people who had never even replied to him. The flaming only started AFTER he started the mass ignore. He was also pretty abusive outside of these forums to anyone who didn't think he was some sort of god. There is no way in hell this guy was treated unfairly. He brought it all upon himself. This guy had some serious issues.

I trust you ady.  If you say Phantom will look the best it ever has on home video then it will.

Well, if it is as it was at the Star Wars concert, then it will. but i wouldn't put it past GL to order some last minute tweaks and try to remove all the grain in an attempt to match Eps 2 & 3. The clips i saw still had visible grain, although not as prominent as the DVD release, but many of the effects like replacement skies etc originally had really bad artificial grain added which, when combined with the real film grain, looked horrendous. As long as they don't go overboard with the grain removal like the predator Blu-ray then it will look great

The bad 2004 colors of the SE 2004 OT completely unfixed, blacks still crushed and now phantom menace with even worse colors than the original DVD, pinks might be gone but now the colors are bumped up and overly bright and super saturated nothing like the 35mm release in 1999.

Actually the clips i saw of the new TPM transfer at the Star Wars concert looked very close to how it originally looked in the cinemas and not overly bright or oversaturated and they are the same in the trailer (click to view larger):

The worse thing about all this is that they seem to have taken a lot of care with the TPM transfer, yet seem to not care less about the way the OT looks at all. It's depressing to think that TPM will be the best looking transfer out of all the films and the only film transfer that is close to its original look.

Furthermore, it would be impossible to hide the reveal... when Ben talks about Anakin being a good friend that he was tutoring, who ELSE could he be talking about?  He also says that Vader helped the empire destroy the Jedi. In ep.3 we watch Anakin do all those things, and then become Vader. You'd have to ditch pretty much all of ep.3.  Hmm, not a bad idea, now that I think of it.

You have indeed stated my concerns with Ady's Revisited plans. Leaving out the "Rise...NOOOOOooooooo" scene is easy enough, but it's all that other Vader-stuff that Ani does that really... well, I don't see how it's doable.

Always with you it cannot be done... ;)

I love how it's being said that keeping the surprise can't be pulled off for my EP3:Revisited edit, yet no one knows my plans for this edit. I have planned this out and i do have a way that Vader can be seen to be a separate person to Anakin and still have Anakin's fall to the dark side intact. Am i going to explain, well no. I will be keeping this to myself until i get to Ep3. You have to remember that the Revisited saga is no longer just an ordinary fan edit that takes existing footage and rearranges it to create a new edit. I will be filming new elements to create new shots that will be needed to pull this off.

Ben's speech to Luke doesn't really change anything either, but i have a way to have the "pupil" exist but not named. Plus , when ben explains to Luke in ROTJ about the "certain point of view" this actually works. Just look at bens reaction in his hut on Tatooine in EP4 when Luke asks about his father. Without even knowing it was supposed to be a lie at the time , Alec gave an uncomfortable look in the pause before his speech. So this actually helped to sell the lie.

The ESB reveal, thanks to the terrible writing of the prequels, turned from a "oh my god, is he lying/ that can't be true?" moment to a "well, duh" moment. You can't expect people that are new to the saga to watch them in the 4,5,6,1,2,3 order. When you see a set of movies that are numbered in order then you will watch them in numerical order. The only other way around it would be to renumber the OT 1,2 & 3 and have the prequels numbered after them, but the episode numbers have become so synonymous with each film as they stand now, i doubt changing the episode numbers would sit comfortably with people.

The ESB reveal needs to be kept as a surprise.

I saw this on starwars.com for the upcoming star tours 2 ride.

So they've put the Ion Cannon right next to the hangar entrance? That looks a bit familiar ;)

You can bet that i'll get accused of copying their idea, even though my version appeared about 7 months prior to the Star Tours one being shown for the first time.

RIP Elisabeth Sladen, 63
Time

It is a sad day indeed. Sarah Jane Smith was always "my" companion, although Jo Grant was the assistant when i first started watching Doctor Who in the 70's. It was such a shock when i heard about this on the news last night. Her illness had been kept so secret and she had been working on the new series of "The Sarah jane Adventures" right up until the last few weeks of her life. She will be sadly missed. I hope they do some sort of tribute to her during this Saturdays first episode of  the new season of Doctor Who or better still devote a whole episode of Confidential to her.

All the Doctor Who avatars that have appeared here lately, now seem strangely fitting

Lovely to hear the good news, Ady.

Will there be a high definition DVD-9 version too or will you leave that to your fans?

Most probably not. I'll leave that up to someone else to do

...and WE get the bad rap!!!!!
Time

I get this kind of trolling all the time on my videos. I just block them if they become super trolls. They all spout the same crap over and over again; "it's Lucas' film, not yours. He can do what he wants" , " The special edition is his true vision" blah blah blah. One of the worse trolls i came across on my channel was nicotipro1. This guy was a pain. He has has several sock accounts and when he gets blocked he just creates another and so on.

And then you get the prequel gushers. I've had comments on my channel/videos because i commented that i thought that the prequels were pretty bad. Ones like " If you don't like the prequels then you can't call yourself a TRUE star wars fan. FACT", "The fact that you don't like the prequels just proves that your an idiot" etc etc etc.

And then you have the psychos. "how dare you touch these movies. They are George's and you have no right to do this. The best thing that could happen to you is if someone put a gun to your head and pulled the trigger", "prey i never meet you because i would put you in hospital and every real star wars fan should do the same thing", "stay in the uk you azzhole. come to america and there is a bullet waiting for you"

But the funniest one i had was this: " you f**king gay faggott. what gives you the rite to mess with star wars. I'd f**ck you right up the ass you gay piece of shit". I guess some people really don't understand what they are writing ;)

I'm actually looking forward to getting to the prequels so i can rip them apart and really piss these muppets off. ;)

But it does seem to be getting worse. You get these kids that think they are hard gangster types because they are sitting behind the safety of a keyboard. Confront them in real life and they would piss their pants and cry to mummy. There should be a system on youtube to stop this kind of bullshit but its all about generating money and the more hits they get the more money they make.
