Hurt isn't playing McGann's doctor according to inside reports. He is playing a Doctor between 8 & 9. The one that ends the time war. An incarnation that the following ones wanted to forget because of his actions. The whole "not in the name of the Doctor" thing is how they are going to try and explain away why the others call themselves 9,10 11 etc when they are in fact one regeneration further on. Hurt wasn't even in the 50th special until Chris backed out and they rewrote the story.
But why the hell are they only featuring the newer Doctors while ignoring the older ones? This is supposed to be the 50th anniversary and not the 8th. There was supposed to be a web minisode that had the regeneration from McGann to Hurt, but this looks like it may not be happening any more thanks to another regeneration happening in the next episode thanks to Matt leaving.
All they have done for the 50th that includes any of the "classic" doctors was some fleeting & badly incorporated shots from old episodes in "the name of the doctor" Man, the effect work in that was so bad. They didn't even bother to deinterlace the original footage to incorporate the new progressive footage. The effects have seriously gone crap in the last series since they dropped The Mill and used the US's Stargate Effects. Way to go with supporting this countries effects industry.
Now Uk fans have been slapped in the face yet again with the two Comic Con trailers for the 50th and Adventures in Space and Time. And them Moffat threatens that is anyone posts them online then Comic Con will not get any more exclusives ever. Do the BBC forget that WE pay for this program and NOT the American audiences? They don't even bother showing the exclusives at the UK Comic Con, when they can be bothered to even have a panel. It seems like they are trying to cater more towards the American audiences now and screw the UK fans. There have been the Doctor Who Revisited specials followed by showings of classic episodes. What have we had? Nothing.
But this last series has been terrible. The worse series since Who came back on the screens. It's put a bit of a dampener on the whole 50th anniversary for me and, with all this latest crap, i've just about had it with Moffat's Who.
