Strange that the collection has now disappeared from VUDU's website
Strange that the collection has now disappeared from VUDU's website
The actual quote is:
" Luke, I don't want to lose you to the Emperor the way I lost Vader."
Makes perfect sense and the prequels don't contradict this at all.

That's cool.
Any word on fixing the AT-AT/speeder distance problem or not?I tweaked that shot ages ago by making the existing AT-AT larger.
That's great news. It must've been tweaked sometime after the Dec 20th clip?
Almost none of the clips i have shown to date contain 100% of the final footage. Usually they are earlier test renders (remember the Hoth battle clips that contained no AT-ST's , even though they were already in there at that point). I don't want to spoil it by showing everything ahead of the release ;)
EDIT: Just checked the date the shot was rendered and it was done early September 2014

The red cockpit/ solid goggles problems were fixed a long time ago......

Unfortunately it's corrupt and doesn't have enough par2 files. The one from two days earlier is corrupt too and unfixable too. :(
I downloaded it and i only have 1 file corrupt, "ESB Deconstructed (REPACK).part007.rar" and enough pars to fix it, but repairing fails every time using both quickpar and multipar. What are you guys using to create the Par2 files?

And it's still not on in the UK
By the time we get new season 1 eps, season two will be done and dusted!!!
We're on episode 10 this weekend in the UK. They had a marathon of 1-9 last weekend
There are some shots in ESB:R that have taken hours to encode just over a seconds worth of film @720p with all the layers & effects used and that is on a 6 core 4.5ghz i7 machine. Can you imagine the encode time when working at 1080p for those shots?
The blu-rays certainly weren't "around the corner" when i did ANH. They didn't come out for almost another 4 years AFTER i had completed ep4. Even the HDTV captures didn't come out until i was most of the way through the edit.
Even though i will be redoing EP4 in HD, i see no reason to have to go back and redo everything just because a 4k version may or may not be released. If i had that sort of mindset i would be waiting forever just to begin work on the films. I would be celebrating the release of the final film alongside my centenary birthday ;)

Yes there were activation flares on the prequel sabers you know. It is a continuity project and nothing more.
But only in Episodes 2 & 3. Episode 1 didn't have any flares added to the saber ignitions.

you know if this board was html friendly I could just insert the photo without a link... Just saying.... time to get with the times.
But you can do that here. Just click on the picture icon and paste the link, like this;
I didn't have to remove the "s" in "https" for this picture to show up but it is probably best to if posting multiple pictures. Oh , and if they are hi res pictures, its probably best to manually resize them before clicking on "post"
Do you have any screenshots from the films showing the things you have done that aren't lightsabers?
All is not lost yet. We may still have access to the disc.

I've never seen LD video with issues like that. It's more like tape dropouts. Would Lucasfilm just slap a videotape of the footage onto a disc, warts and all? Especially a trade show demo disc?
And are we going to try and pool resources on this?
No, all those problems were down to the way it was originally copied; using a plain old dvd recorder. There were problems with the disc itself which caused dropouts which the recorder couldn't seem to handle and cause those problems. Which is why i was pushing to get a proper capture of it done.

Does this guy have a good excuse for sitting on it for so long without doing the back-and-forth to get a proper transfer done?
no, no excuses were given to us. I tried to arrange things but nothing ever came about from it. All we have is the files he gave us from the recording he did on the settop DVD recorder, with all the dropout problems with the picture. Completely unusable .
poita and I might be able to bring it to a usable state. Want to bring this to PM?
yeh, PM me

That looks great. What program are you using for the grading?
We knew nothing about this. First thing we knew was when it had already been put up for sale.
I've been trying to get hold of the disc since it was purchased. All i have are the original vob files from the settop DVD recorder recordings that were used for the youtube video. I had arrangements set in place with poita to get the disc shipped to him for him to do a proper capture and i was just awaiting on the guy who has the disc to set things up his end. next thing i was getting contacted by people asking why we are selling it. We weren't even contacted before the disc was offered for sale.I'm trying to get him to get this properly captured, as was promised, before the sale goes ahead. I have a feeling though that this isn't going to happen within the 9 days.
As soon as i can find out any more information i'll let you all know.
the only good thing that has come out of this is that we at least got to see the footage and it didn't end up in the hands of a collector who would never have shared anything. but that isn't really much of a consolation.
For everyone without the book of face, here is what i posted there earlier:
While i have been waiting for stuff to dry ( paints, resin etc) i decided to start dabbling with the prequels. So i started with Episode 2 as this one looks the worse out of those films. The whole "orange" look to the film gives it a quite flat quality and really doesn't help with the CG in the film. So i decided to start a quick and dirt colour grading pass. Geonosis is the worse offender. yes, the planet does have a red sky ( at least in the official version) but i want to give this film a more natural colour pallet. Now, as i said, this is a very quick and dirt colour grade only done as a test to see what can be achieved and how the film could look with some added grain, so it matched the OT instead of looking like and older digitally shot movie.
Now, if you want to see a proper comparison just click on the sample here:

Plus some footage:
First is the comparison video: (approx 90mb)

And the second is the regraded version in higher bitrate so you can see the added film grain: (approx 270mb)

I was given a polish audio track for esb and , instead of removing the english dialogue, they dubbed the polish lines directly over the top of the english ones. I think that may be what he means.
So it seems that Disney decided to throw out George's story treatments for the new films.
The ones that I sold to Disney, they came up to the decision that they didn't really want to do those. So they made up their own. So it's not the ones that I originally wrote

I never walked out of any of the prequels, probably because i had my children with me. But i saw people doing so. TPM had a varying degree of people walking out long before the end. When watching ROTS i was surprised by how many got up and walked out. The cinema was 3/4 full at the beginning and by the time Windu confronted palpatine, the cinema was pretty empty. I think i would have joined them but my kids had all fell asleep ( and my wife for that matter). Funnily enough though, the film that gets all the hate, AOTC, had the least amount of people leaving. It was mainly viewers who didn't go with their kids that left during the three prequels. I think a lot of parents suffered to sit all the way through just for their kids ;)

The OOT ending of ROTJ didn't make sense anyway. Why was anakin suddenly a normal guy instead of bald and pasty white? I don't mind most of the retcons of the Special Editions so I hope they follow that.
By your reckoning then, why wasn't Obi-Wan just half a person?
The original OOT ending made perfect sense. A hell of a lot more sense that having Hayden in there.
