What didn't you like about TFA? SPOILERS

I’m pretty sure the giant pig creature was CGI, the early leaked photos of it was the stand in used on location. That hardly looked like it was capable of moving the way it did in the film.

Having seen the movie twice in 70mm Imax, the CGI creatures held up pretty well. (I saw details in Maz’s face I did not see in digital projection.) Better than anything I saw in the prequels. Snoke might be the exception, but we really only see him as a hologram.

The pig creature was fully practical. It could even walk ( although we didn’t actually get to see that in the film)

During the battle over Takodana, when Finn stops to watch the dogfight, the end of that sequence some storm troopers in front of a wall get blown up by a X-wing - Really bad and noticeable CG

Are you sure about that? The only CG bit in that shot was the x-wing. The wall exploding and the troopers were all practical. You only have to watch the behind the scenes footage to see that shot being filmed -completely practical

Has anyone else noticed the font for the subtitle, “The Empire Strikes Back,” and “The Force Awakens” in their opening crawls are TFF Franklin Gothic Demi while the other subtitles are Univers LT Std 49 Light Ultra Condensed?

Way ahead of you 😉

http://originaltrilogy.com/post/id/929655

The crawl has been redone from scratch for ESB:R and it is a template that will be used for all 6 films, so each crawl will match

You’re thinking of “Frinks.”

Ah, yes. My mistake, sorry. So who is this mysterious Frinks? Is his first name JarJar?

He’s exactly like me, except for the goatee and the kid-hating.

You know one way to not get banned is to stay on topic.

Another is personal attacks. Better change you signature

Just because the prefer the PT does not mean that they hate the OT and no, most of them prefer the unaltered editions of the OT.

You don’t get on the internet much then do you? Most PT fans prefer the SE’s and love to attack anyone who speaks up for the unaltered versions. They claim we aren’t “true” fans because we don’t follow Lucas’ “vision” and they are Lucas’ films to do with what he wants. Apparently we only hate the SE’s because they connect the OT with the PT and we are just “sad old men”.

Can you give me an exampel?

No, but i can give you an example. 😉 Just go on facebook and take a look around the prequel orientated groups, for one and maybe TFN.

EDIT: One i found straight away on a site about the “did george lucas revisions to the star wars original trilogy ruin it”. Although this isn’t one of the “attacking” ones

No. Most of the changes are good. The few that aren’t are tolerable and don’t “ruin” anything. There was one single change I totally disagreed with, as did many others: Luke should NOT scream as he lets himself fall in Cloud City. The whole point of the scene is that he lets himself fall on purpose, choosing (well, risking) death rather than accept Vader’s offer. The scream sort of negates that. Luckily, George Lucas himself came to the right conclusion regarding this, and now the scream is gone again.

Ian McDiarmid is the Emperor now, and it makes perfect sense that his brief (holographic) appearance in The Empire Strikes Back was re-recorded with the “definite” actor, for the sake of overall continuity. Also, it should definitely be Hayden Christensen’s Anakin that finally manifests as a Force ghost in Return of the Jedi. I once read a rather touching account of a father showing the movies to his sons. They were pretty devastated to see their hero Anakin fall so low in Revenge of the Sith, and it was all the more euphoric and cathartic for them to see Anakin restored to his good self at the end. The original scene with Sebastian Shaw would have meant nothing to them.

Some of the changes are very subtle – the Ewoks have suddenly gained blinking eyes, for instance! One problem with the Ewoks always was that they looked so fake, and anything that can offset that impression has to be welcomed.

Unfortunately, some fans have a quite irrational attachment to the original versions (as part of their childhood, not so much as stories or movies), and they can never accept even the slightest change from what their ca. nine-year-old selves saw in a theater around 1980. I actually belong to that generation myself, but I guess I never developed a religious attachment to Star Wars, however fun the movies are to discuss.

More examples

I,am 18 years old and love all the Star Wars movies and even the cartoon show. I get so anger when people compare both trilogies. That’s not how George Lucas wanted it. People bitch about the prequels, but god forbid if they bash the originals. They’re are some problems with originals. In a nut shell, a bunch of rebels are fighting the Empire and it’s up to a lone Jedi to save the day. That’s pretty much it. I hate how people bash all the CG in the prequels. That’s how George wanted the originals. He wanted to show people his imagination, but was limited by the technology at the time. People hate Jar Jar, but they’re ok with a bunch of teddy bears defeating the Emperor’s best troops on Endor. That’s just embarrassing. I believe people hate the prequels because they are a lot different then originals.More serious and political then fun. Don’t get me wrong the originals are awesome, but like some of you said before: There is just the Star Wars saga. A saga that spans I believe 36 years in a galaxy far, far, away.(Sorry i couldn’t resist throwing that in there) People should stop harassing George Lucas for making simple changes to HIS movies and thank him for keeping a series alive for more then 36 years. Please excuse my grammar and don’t kill me for bashing the originals a little bit. I just get tried of the criticism. True fans love all the Star Wars movies. I can’t wait to order season 2 for the Clone Wars.

And these type of guys…

Ranking the Star Wars films
Time

Reviewers in the 70’s/80’s were a hell of a lot different than the younger reviewers that spawned from the internet age. Sci-Fi was generally slated, no matter how good the film, as it was seen as b-movie material and not sophisticated. Reviewers since the late 90’s seem to be more interested in how the film looks when reviewing films like this that how good the actual film is. You see it all the time “the story is a mess, the acting is terrible, but the visuals are amazing…” so they give it a high score.

probably NOT a good idea to be advertising that you are using the bootleg blu-ray rip that was leaked weeks before the blu-ray was officially released for your edit instead of a rip from your own legit copy.

I don’t have a blu ray drive/writer (or whatever the fuck) on my PC. Plus isn’t getting a copy of something whether it be a fan edit or not legal so long as you have a original copy? You want to see my receipt or something?

Also the file I got was released in the last week or few days.

EDIT: I’m surprised no one has said anything about me presumably pirating Sony Vegas…

Well please remind me not to bother to try and offer any help to anyone in the future. Using a scene release for a fan edit is highly frowned upon and all i was doing was trying to advise you that it isn’t a good idea to publicly show that you are using a bootlegged download for your edit, as you clearly was showing by the vegas snapshot. The last thing you want is to get banned because of something you may not have been aware of, so i was just offering some advice. But after the attitude in your reply, i guess i should have just kept my mouth shut
