STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
The fixed version is going up now. its crossposted again just so i can upload the fixed version to all the groups i posted to before. Sorry to all those who are having problems with their ISP's usenet not carrying the files but i was unable to change any settings so it would upload to a.b.starwars as the main one.

vbangle has just made me aware of a huge problem with the DVD. I've posted the wrong version. There are some problems with the version posted that causes the movie not to play when you go through the main menu and some of the subtitles are messed up. This was fixed last night but i stupidly posted the faulty version. I'm going to try and see if i can make a ppfomatic fix . if not then i will have to repost the whole thing. please do not post this version anywhere until i can see if i can do a fix.

I really feel like shooting myself because of this.

Since the free service offered by VM doesn't carry the high traffic groups (a.b.dvdr being one of them) the posts were dropped.

@Ady: as a VirginMedia customer myself, I'd be grateful if, when you post the DVD9, you put a.b.starwars first in the group list.

How do i do that? i use yencpowerpost to upload to usenet and you can only select the groups you want to post it to and it orders them alphabetically. is there another program that i can use that i can set the group order manually?

Yes, I will be fist to tell you what an idiot I am when it comes to this stuff.

The one out tomorrow is a DVD-5 so it will fit on a single layer DVD. You won't have to shrink it. If you need NTSC then you'll have to wait a week or so until the NTSC DVD-5 is available. I wouldn't shrink the DVD-9 just for the extras. There are extras on the DVD-5 but shrinking the whole DVD-9 won't give you very good results. The bitrate for the movie would be down to about 3200kbps (maybe even less) in order to keep the extras, which isn't very good

I've just got a few tweaks to the audio track to do, which should only take this evening to do, burn the final test copy, watch it all the way through and its done. No easter egg though. there just wasn't enough space left. I'll save that for the DVD-9. Should all be good to go either later this evening or tomorrow at the latest

Yeh, i just checked it out and it does suffer badly from compression artifacts. Is there any chance you could post a different version with the jpeg compression setting set to maximum & possibly with higher res too, unless that is the res that you worked on. It would be a shame to have such a good cover in poor quality.

Hopefully it will be up on torrent (i use piratebay)

no it won't be. the average bitrate for the movie on the DVD-5 is 4200 whereas on the DVD-9 it is 6500

It also depends on the media you are using. A lot of people think that if you buy Verbatim that you are going to have a reliable disc. well this isn't the case. It all depends on where the discs were manufactured. if they were manufactured in Singapore then the chance that you have good quality discs is high but many are now manufactured in India and they are horrible discs. Many shops & sites now stock the India manufactured discs due to the fact that they are slightly cheaper. I won't touch these discs. Buy the discs from a place that you can find out the country of origin before you buy ( SVP here in the Uk is one example). I also won't touch any Ritek dye based discs. The dye is horrible. Even though when scanning the disc you will get good results they don't last long. I'm not saying all degrade as fast as others but again its hit and miss on the dye used. I have discs that are now unreadable that were recorded less than a 2 years ago and some never played but are now unreadable. Cheap discs may look good if you're on a budget but you do get what you pay for.

Anyway, back to the edit. I'm almost finished. Just a few tweaks on the structure and the PAL DVD-5 is done. The ESB trailer on the DVD will be slightly different than the one posted in my ESB REVISITED thread. I have tweaked the Emperor. His hood has been replaced with the one from ROTJ and he looks so much better now. This weekend will definitely see the DVD appear

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

You have almost got it word for word with what i will be doing with that scene. The only thing really different is this line:
-2004: We have a new enemy, (camera front view of Emperor) the young rebel who destroyed the Death Star. (camera front view of Vader from the shoulders up) I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker. (camera front view of Emperor)

I will be changing this line to just "young Skywalker". I would have preferred it to be "Luke Skywalker" but no where in the saga does the Emperor say "Luke"

As for the vane it is a bit of a design flaw. I think that Luke was supposed to have reached there through the long tunnel but they put the support pole in the wrong position on the matte which caused confusion. A small tweak to the matte should be able to fix this.

The Obi-Wan line about Yoda i would prefer to keep this as it is. I don't want to have to changed much in the OT just because of the mess that the POT caused. I have some plans to fix this error in the PT and not have OBi-Wan as Qui-Gon's padawan but instead have Yopa call Obi-Wan his padawan in some instances in TPM or maybe just omit the whole padawan thing with Obi-Wan altogether

discostewart, it wasn't your message that i was referring to. you'd be surprised how many emails i had asking for a signed boxed DVD-9. I did reply to your first message but you haven't got your PM's turned on.

Just started the painting for the cover today. It should only take me a couple of days to complete.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Well the drive came today, reinstalled a fresh copy of windows and my programs and mpeg rendering is now back to normal. So tonight and tomorrow i will be rendering all the mpeg files needed for the DVD-5 versions. I now have a detailed list of what will be on the DVD-5 versions:

16:9 anamorphic
5.1 Dolby digital mix
English subtitles
Spanish subtitles
French subtitles
Dutch subtitles
Deleted Scene - Jabba the Hutt
Deleted Scene - Jabba the Hutt in 3D
Episode IV Revisited first look trailer
1st official trailer
Final Trailer
Sneak peak at Episode V Revisited
Revisited Changes & Fixes Trivia subtitle track
Easter Egg
Full Motion Menus

The Pal DVD will be the first version available with the NTSC following within a few days. I'm just waiting for the Dutch subs to be sent to me ( which should be completed by Thursday) so at the Weekend the PAL version will be here.

On another note, i have been recently receiving both Email & PMs from various people, most of whom i have no clue who the hell they are, asking for copies of the DVD-9 but saying that they can't join in the PIF chain because they don't have a dual layer burner but offering to put some money into my account towards the next edit. Some have even asked that i send them a copy with full cover artwork, boxed with printed label and personally signed by me. Some offers have actually been the same as it would cost to buy a dual layer burner plus discs so have proven to me that they think that they can pay me for a copy. I'm afraid this will NOT be happening. I will be sending out discs in order to start the PIF chain and a few to other members that have helped with the edit ( not financially). It will also be available through usenet and torrents. You can get it from there if you can't be part of the chain. So please stop asking and stop the money offers. I will not reply to any of them

I have also received a few very fake cease & desist letters ( come on guys. using a free email account. how thick do you think i am) and also a lot of threatening hate mail in the past few days. i guess i have rattled a few cages.

I have not profited, or want to, from this edit. There is no secret distribution circle going on either. I have had numerous offers from people offering me money in exchange for a copy of the DVD from here (all be it mainly newbies) and other sites and i have refused each and every one. I completely disagree with the people that "sell" their edits. That is not what i did this for. I will be sending out copies to the people who have offered to start the PIF chain regardless if they have donated or not. All postage & disc costs will be covered by me and it will also be available through usenet and torrents & possibly rapidshare so it will remain 100% free.

It's almost there. there's some more work to do on it (i may have French subs for it now too so i need to change the structure and menus slightly) i'm awaiting the funds to clear from paypal so i can get the drive and then about a day after the PAL DVD-5 should be good to go with the NTSC a few days after that

are those red/blue or red/green glasses? because it didn't quite work properly through the red/blue ones I used, I could still see two of everything!

I'm using the red/blue ones. it is still a work in progress and i haven't got the alignment quite right yet but if you have seen the family guy 3d section then you still see doubling happening no matter what. its just a limit with this type of conversion but i've done some more corrections since then and here's a snapshot as it stands now

I was working on the colour correction for this deleted scene for the dvd and just decided to see if it was possible for me to convert it to some sort of 3D. its still just a test but there is hell of a lot of work involved so i don't really want to do a scene thats too complex

Well here's a sneak peak at one of the special features that will be on all versions of the DVD. It's only a quick clip and is still a work in progress and is probably going to take me another week to finish but i just wanted to do something different for the DVD's.

If they landed directly in front of the rebel base, they would be vulnerable during landing.
Well actually not even ships can get through the shield. Don't forget that they have to lower the shield for the transports to escape so my thought on this is that once the shield is lowered the walkers can slip through .
An interesting idea popped up earlier in the thread about seeing drop ships deploying the AT-AT's. But i feel that adding anything like that in would ruin the reveal of the AT-AT's when we see them through the macrobinoulars and would just be adding something in to the film that really doesn't need to be there. That's the thing i'm trying to avoid and that's the thing that Lucasfilm did with the SE's.
Also adding any sort of vision during Luke's training won't be happening. That's another thing we don't need to see . Luke describes his vision perfectly.

1. I really like the SE Wampa stuff. I hope it doesn't change, but it is your edit ady, as many have said, do what you want.
The Wampa scene will be cut down. It will be closer to the original version than the SE but i haven't panned exactly how i'm going to do that just yet.

2. About that window in cloud city that disappears. I would really like to see the window stay, if you can find a way to matte in the window convincingly. I really like what was done to cloud city in the SE, except for this error in continuity.

yes, i'm going to fix that error.

4. I also like the shots added involving Vader's shuttle and arrival on the Executor, but I understand how they disrupt the flow. Is there any way that the sequence's timing could be reworked in order to keep the shots?

Those shots i absolutely hate. It totally ruins the pace of the sequence and i'm afraid they will be going.

One last thing. There will be no PT music added to ESB.
