Excellent clip.  Great colors everywhere.  Is it weird that I already miss the changes you previewed for the probe droid sequence?  Are you going to have to start from scratch with that sequence now that you've done color correction, or just re-color correct what you already had?

I'll be starting from scratch for most of it but having the saved project files for the work already done makes life a bit easier, plus i also need to build the new model of the Generator.

i'm planning on doing the Veers death scene but its probably going to end up as a deleted scene. Adding that scene into the movie might ruin the pace slightly, but i'll wait until i get to doing the work on the battle and all the editing to make my final decision if it ends up in the movie or not

Makes sense.  I just kind of wanted my suggestion in digital form for my own sake.

thats ok. i love seeing all these ideas.

I'm just preparing a new 8 minute clip that shows just how well the  colour correction was coming along before this damn power supply problem. I'm getting real withdrawal symptoms from being unable to do anything on this edit until i can get my new one. I've had to take out one of my drives with some footage on and try to render an XVID with my wifes laptop (i can't even start the PC up anymore), which is why i've been a bit quite. * minutes is taking so long to convert from HD to an smaller res XVID. there's no way i could possibly do any of the correction on this heap. ( hope the wife don't read what i just said about her laptop. lol). i can't wait until the 18th when we finally get some money, and i'm preying that i can afford to get it then. So fingers crossed. The cip hopefully will be online a short time.

ok. here's my reasoning why i won't be adding any drop ships of any kind.

Take a look from the beginning of the battle sequence. First we see a shot of the empty landscape:

a little later we see the same shot but with something added:

Now look where your eye is drawn to. The small dots.

Now add the dropship:

Now see where your eye is drawn too, especially if this shot was moving. it isn't the small dots any more. You are now focusing on the larger vessel. Chances are because its a quick shot you wouldn't even look at the At-At's at all but instead you would be too focused on the leaving drop ship. IMHO this spoils the shot. You need to be focusing on the small dots on the Horizon or the binocular reveal just doesn't have the same impact. Plus, if you look at the whole scene the rebels are only just getting into the trenches to prepare for the battle when they appear on the horizon. If you add any dropships then surely they would have seen the ships and get ready a lot earlier. So, sorry, but there will not be any form of dropships added to ESB:R

Who knows.

But i do know in the UK, they are showing the TV series on the Movies channel. Which is great if you subscribe to the movie channel, but sucks if you don't.

Lucky for me, I do.

Yeh when i heard about that i was pretty annoyed that yet again we get screwed over here while everywhere else it seems you can watch it for free. I subscribe to the HD package so i'll be able to watch it in HD, but putting it on the movie channels is a total kick in the teeth for UK star wars fans that have sky but not the movie package.

I chucked this concept art (its really bad I know) togethre in 2 mins for the lost opening shot. I envision a long shot seen through the binoculars and we see the space battle above.

It looks bad cause i have lost photoshop - i need to reinstall.

interesting project. I can't see the picture you posted because its too small but it looks like you have used the opening sequence footage from ANH.  For the opening shot i personally wouldn't use the existing footage for the binoculars because the angle would be all wrong. If you took a frame of one of the stardestroyers in ESB when they are about to collide (because we see them from below) and add the Tantive IV then add a TV simulation filter (there's one in after FX but there is a better one which is very close to the one used in Star Wars in Sony Vegas) it would look more like Luke was looking up at the battle. You can achieve this pretty easy using Adobe after effects and some still images. Most of the extra FX work in ANH:R was done using 2d images. in fact there is only 1 time CG was used and that was for the TIE fighters in the new approach sequence in the battle of the Death Star.

Anyway, best of luck.

Though eBaying his painting would be awesome, but if I was him, I'd want to keep it.

No, i definitely want to keep the original. I was thinking of selling A3 sized signed prints of it at one point but i'm not sure about all the copywrite issues.

About the ROTJ ending (even though this is the ESB:R thread. lol). I have to say that i always hated the Yub Nub ending and thought the SE ending was a small improvement . But the celebrations seemed to be a bit sudden. There was no Imperial activity shown at all. I think they would have made more sense if you had shots that showed Imperial Officers  & stormtroopers being lead off to detention centres or just rounded up like the Wookies were in EP3. This way the celebrations would have seemed more linear with what was happening on Endor. I want to keep the celebrations as they do seem to round off the complete saga nicely, but why is Tatooine there? Just another shot that didn't need to be added. If there as a way i could show the rounding up of the imperials & maybe add some shots that show that many battles had taken place simultaneously around the galaxy where the Empire has been defeated then it would be a better ending for me. As for the music neither the original or the SE music would not be returning in my edit.  I've always thought that the ending for the saga should have had a fitting orchestral score, so that is what i will be doing. I have a few years before i get to this stage so plenty of time to find the right piece of music. Plus i really need to concentrate on ESB:R so i don't really want to think about ROTJ:R for a while yet.

So I was looking at the thread about the changes in Vader's suit and was directed to the Secret History of Star Wars site's area about Vader.  There I found these quotes:

Return of the Jedi gave us some slight modifications as well, notably a further enhancement of the vocal flanging to make it seem more processed and electronic than in Empire Strikes Back, perhaps because the unmasking scene at the end would reveal a design that shows that Vader's natural voice is processed and amplified through an electronic system.

...

Finally, Star Wars was altered where possible to match the depiction seen in the subsequent entries--James Earl Jones' voice was enhanced for the 2004 DVD release to sound more like the electronic version of Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith .

I know Ady said that he modified Vader's voice in the ANHR DVD-9, but me being the dense person I am have not been able to notice the difference.

Ady, are you going to modify Vader's voice in ESBR to match RotJ, or does ANHR match ESB so now you need to unprocess RotJR?  Not like I ever noticed the difference, but I'm just curious.

Im a long way off the audio side of things yet so i haven't made any decision as to what i will be doing to the audio track.

I've been having a few problems with the PC recently, after effects crashing on heavy renders & drives suddenly disappearing in windows (you could hear them power down) amongst other things. The PC hasn't been off in months and when i turned it off last night it just wouldn't restart. it tried to but failed after a few seconds and kept on trying. Luckily i know a bit about computers so i began testing that all the pci cards were in correct and changed all the cabling to the drives but still no luck. But then i tried removing the new drives and it started up  without any problems. I was preying that its wasn't the drives so i plugged them back in and it failed to start again. So this time i unplugged 2 different drives and it again started up without problems. I'm such a dumb f**k at times. I totally forgot that when i upgraded to the quad core and added the 2 new drives that i should have got a higher powered power supply. I have a 550w at the moment and it looks like I've worn it out and its just unable to cope. This is going to have to wait until mid October when we get paid and i don't want to risk any damage to the pc so i'm using the wife's laptop now until i get the power supply. This project is as jinxed as ANH:R by the looks of things. But its my stupid fault for forgetting about the extra power requirements when i upgraded. So no more work on ESB:R until this problem is sorted i'm afraid. :(

I'd like to know where he got them....if they were in fact pressed DVD's, what DVD dupe house pressed copies of your edit? They're the ones you need to find out about and sue their asses off.....damn Ady, I wish England wasn't so far away...it would of been a fun bashing that dork.

i'd like to know that too. But i have seen this kind of thing before. Usually Asian imported and most of his stuff was Asian imported anime. they look more like commercial DVD's because they don't have the purple side like a recordable disc and are more silver than the usual gold. I'm going to keep an eye out at Memorabilia though and they come down a lot harder on bootlegs there.

I have different opinions ok. I am a not a super uber star wars geek like most people. And I don't belive in pirated dvds or leagle dvds to make. If it rubs people the wrong way then I'm sorry. So I ask one more time stop making fun of me ok. You bunch of people that make fun of other people with different opinions.

God, you just don't get it do you? Its nothing to do with you having different opinions at all. You were rude and obnoxious and tried to tell everyone that we should be happy with the crappy 2004 just because you were.  And now you call us all Geeks? Wow, you know how to win over people don't you. I guess you use your personality as a form of contraception. Also you make no sense with your posts whatsoever. You say don't believe in pirate or legal DVD's so what other sort is there? Do tell with your infinite wisdom, oh great master.

Start treating people with respect and you'll get it back. Come to a thread and start telling people what they should believe and you'd just get shat upon. (and yes i did spell that correctly). many people here have lots of different opinions and never get flamed for it so your argument is out the window, i'm afraid.

GM i can totally sympathise with you over someone profiting from your hard work. I went to the Midlands EXPO on Saturday and there was a guy there with some Imported DVD's and i spotted 3 copies of my Revisited edit. He even used my cover. At first i thought he might have just used my cover as a substitute and that it might not be Revisited so i asked him about it. He told me it was a pre- release of the new EPIV that would be coming out at X-mas with some major changes done to it. He had a portable DVD player so i asked him if i could see some of it before i purchased it. My jaw dropped when i saw my movie (minus the warning and menus). i told him that i would be back a bit alter to buy one but went to find one of the organisers. They were no help at all at first. they came with me to the stall and he produced some credentials and they said that it was a legit release and that i had no proof that it wasn't . i told them to play the end credits and produced my ID. they had a look at the disc and it was a factory pressed DVD. they still didn't believe me. I felt like punching the guy cuz he just had such a smug look on his face. But i had something that they couldn't dispute that this was indeed my edit. Luckily for me the EXPO was only 15 minutes from where i live so i got the wife to pop back home while i remained at the stall and get the original painting i did for the cover. You should have seen the look on his face when she came back with it. The guy just suddenly legged it with the copies of revisited, closely followed by security, leaving his stall unattended. At least my DVD collection has now grown somewhat. lol. but when i asked them later if he was being prosecuted they wouldn't give me any information at all. that's the last time i ever go there. I'm off to memorabilia in Birmingham in November so it will be interesting to see if he's there too.

Everyone STOP MAKING FUN OF ME.

you come in here and insult a lot of people who know what they are talking about, but even after you have been informed about the problems you still say we need our eyes checked. But when its thrown back at you you can't take it. Just grow up. You're supposed to be 24 years old but you write & act  like a pre-teen. Big deal. you admit now that the audio is messed up but still say the colours are fine. Yeh, neon Yoda, totally blue Hoth, Vaders pink lightsabre have always been the correct colours. It is you that needs your eyes tested, not us. You were given information on how you could see for yourself the true colour of the Star Wars OT saga but you ignored it and still spouted off like you were trying to convert everyone to your way of thinking. Do you think you are god or something? Now you're asking where you can get a corrected copy of the DVD's? But i thought you said we should all be happy with the commercial DVD's? Don't be too surprised if no one helps you with that after the crap you spouted to all of us.

You gave no one here any respect and tried to force your view of the DVD's upon us as if we should all bow down to your infinite wisdom and now you're crying like a baby for everyone to stop taking the mickey out of you. Sorry mate, but you have no one else to blame apart from yourself.

how to watch a .x264 file on my PS3?
Time

get TSMuxerGui (google it, it's free).  load the mkv into TSMuxergui. select either ts or M2ts as an output. now you need to click on the video stream (should be stream #1)and check its profile level. If it says 5.1 then you need to change the level to 4.1. This doesn't work all the time so your best bet it to use the split & cut feature and output a minute or so of footage that you can test first on the PS3. just stick it on a USB stick or external hard drive. If this works then your good to go. If you get audio and no picture then it has an illegal video stream and would need to be re-encoded. Now you can output your new file. It will only take a few minutes. The file size will be slightly larger than the original but if its only 6.55gb then it will fit on a DL-DVD.

I have to agree with AM; his eyes look the same shade as his skin, which I don't think they were originally (and certainly aren't in the PT) and I don't think looks as real.

I don't see anything wrong with his eyes and they certainly aren't the same colour as his skin. his eyes are green/hazel not emerald green. I think it might be to do with having the comparison added with it and the compression blurring colours. here's a new file but without the video of the original 2004 colouring

Yoda - Revisited colouring only.
