A New direction for Lucasfilm Animation
Time

I don' think it's a surprise at all - considering they never intended to make an eternally long TV series. This is good news.
It's a comfort that Disney's not going to keep up The Clone Wars - keeping it alive as some zombie show.

People are just trying to sensationalize the news that Season 5 was the last complete season.
There are still a bunch of episodes to show. They're just not going to broadcast them on Cartoon Network.

Aalenfae's Original Short Film "Lily"
Time

Hey, guys! I mentioned this over on my Prequel Edit page, but I thought I should make a thread for it.

A few of my filmmaking friends and I are putting together a slightly noir-inspired 1950's period film. It promises to be pretty awesome! It's called... "Lily"

Back us on Kickstarter!

The film is inspired by a ghost story at an old American college. We'll be filming on-location in some really awesome, untouched-by-time places to really bring the story to life.

But... we need a budget to pull it off. About $4,500. We're buying loads of period-accurate costumes, props, and some other stuff, so that justifies the projected costs.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Ronster's idea is dynamic but a big problem is that it doesn't fit the context of the scene or the movie. The rebels are essentially executing a delaying action to keep the power generator and the shield intact so as many transports as possible are able to escape. The Empire is supposed to be trouncing them, their armored vehicles are supposed to be impervious to the equipment that the Rebellion has cobbled together. The shot of the cannon hitting the walker to no effect is important in illustrating this.

This chapter of the movies is supposed to be darker and the Rebels are on the run and the Empire has the upper hand despite the destruction of the Death Star in the last chapter.

I'm not hoping to see a lot of AT-ST's or AT-AT's go down in this fanedit. I realize it is a fanedit but some things shouldn't be changed too much in order to maintain the integrity of the original story.

The problem is a few AT-ATs (two out of five visible) already go down in the original. Pretty pathetically, actually. 40% casualties on the Empire is pretty insane. The Rebels just don't have nearly enough time to stop them all.

The same overwhelming effect could be felt with an AT-ST going down. Like - the gun destroys an AT-ST, but the camera pans up slowly, and we see an AT-AT looming overhead. It shoots, and we see the shot of the artillery exploding. Same effect, but now it's actually more dramatic.

I think Ronster's idea is really good - and I don't want it to get lost in the sea of posts.

The shot of the artillery hitting the AT-AT leg is really... awkward. And could stand to be replaced. Why not do something more visually exciting... like an exploding AT-ST? That'd be really cool to see on-screen. And maybe you could have an AT-AT in the background, walking forward.

Also, the brightened AT-AT shot is a really good idea, too.
Even if you don't add an interior. Which should be done anyways. It'd match the fact that we can see the interior through the binoculars.

Aalenfae's PREQUEL TRILOGY (Heavily delayed - computer exploded)

Um - mostly plugins for After Effects. Like Element 3D - which is just a really handy 3D particle renderer, and Newton 2 - which is a jaw-dropping physics plugin for After Effects. There are other odds and ends I'll be obtaining, too. Like things I always (legally) wanted to get my hands on - like Action Essentials and Optical Flares.

Mithrandir, I love your idea of using the Yoda line from the new TCW episode.
And what's even better - is that the line is almost music-free in the actual episode. Might make it really easy to use.

I'm just afraid there won't be enough material to make Obi-Wan seem like he actually wants to bring Anakin back. As it is, I've slapped together a hodgepodge of lines from the EPIII video game (where Obi-Wan actually talks like he wants to help Anakin). Maybe I can kidnap Ewan McGregor and get him to record new lines for me, haha.

Little update:
Work on the prequels will come to a VERY slow crawl in the coming months.
Two reasons:

-I am going to be in Japan next year, and will only be able to do basic editing.

-I am working on a short film. It'd be awesome if everybody could back me on kickstarter:

Some of the budget is for some super-awesome software that I'll have afterward to make my Star Wars edits even better! So... there's some extra incentive, haha.

Well, no.
In ANH, he serves as the storyteller, bringing us through the action of the film (and interpreting for R2-D2).

In ESB, he might be mostly comical, but he serves a key role in building the tension on Cloud City. Even if it's a small role, he serves the story in some way.

In RotJ, he's the ambassador to the Ewoks, who are integral in the Rebellion's success on Endor.

However.... in the prequels, C-3P0 does nothing for the story. Nothing at all. He makes a stupid naked joke in TPM, he bumbles around and has some stupid puns in AotC, and he makes some pointless remarks in RotS.

Yeah - I always hated the "It's an invasion army!" line. Like... DUH! But... I want their line about warning the Naboo and contacting the chancellor, and it doesn't... feel right without the lead-in of "It's an invasion army!"

I'll see what I can do about the shield generator line, though!

ben_danger:
That's a unique idea. Though... I feel it wouldn't be profound in the end. It'd be Qui-Gon talking to JarJar, and that's hardly a noble entrance xD, haha.

Also today - a pseudo update!
I made some rough-draft classic-style Star Wars logos for my prequel edits!

And, yes - I know Seciors used "Army of the Republic" for his Episode II edit, but... it's a term from the movie, and it's the one I want to use. Because no way, no how am I gonna use "Attack of the Clones"

Antilles:
Yeah, I tried to keep TC-14, with her line about the Jedi. But... it didn't make sense in the context of the edit. Maybe I can include her footage later in the movie (as I'll be redubbing the Neimoidians). Maybe I can give her some new lines, as well.

Strangeland:
Concerning Sifo-Dyas... I'm still on the fence. Making it Qui-Gon would be an interesting twist, but I'm not sure what it would serve (Other than make Qui-Gon's character more narratively important). I'm always open to ideas as to how to handle that sub-pot.

Dominic:
Thanks! That's quite a compliment. The whole time, I was thinking "In the first 5 minutes of ANH, it's 100% action, 0% exposition." And it's perfect that way. I was thinking TPM could be the same.
