I wouldn't bother syncing the audio.
The original Phantom Edit kind of lacked audio-wise (harsh cuts and pops, and the like.)
If you're taking the time to make the same cuts, I would suggest doing the audio anew as well.
Ahh, yeah. That's a bit that I regretted having to cut, as well.
I'm sure I'll think of some ideas before I'm done. So we'll wait and see!
The opening crawl will reflect some story changes that I'll be shamelessly stealing from magnoliafan.
I do intend to redub the Neimoidians, (At least Nute Gunray) so I've got a lot of flexibility.

On a second note - I think I'll be able to make Naboo into Alderaan for the Prequel Trilogy. I THINK. We'll see. I've managed to cut out almost every single spoken reference to "Naboo" (not a bad thing, because they never say "Tatooine" in ANH, for instance).
Making Naboo into Alderaan seems like a daunting task. But I don't think it's QUITE so difficult in the end. And it's a good, logical change.

Though... I wouldn't mess with the contrast so much. They're starting to look drab because of the decreased contrast - especially in Echo Base.

I used that process on some other Geonosis scenes, and it's looking fantastic. It's amazing how much more real the Geonosis scenes look without the orange haze.
Haha, yeah. The reddish/orange wash just looks fake, really.
I basically just desaturated the reds and yellows, which got rid of the wash. Then I used levels to push the shadows more towards blue, and away from the nasty mix of red and green they were before.
Then I think I generally desaturated the entire scene.

You've got some great cut ideas!
Of course, I totally understand you're just starting out - so I'll forgive technical details.
But the ideas themselves are great! I like cutting out the "The ambassadors of the supreme chancellor wish to board immediately" shots, as well as your lovely cut of the atrocious intro to Anakin. It works much more... naturally now. It feels more like Star Wars. Good job!
Shields and walkers aside, I have a legitimate question about the production on this project.
Ady mentioned that he's making (or has possibly already made?) an actual model of Cloud City to replace the matte painting version in the movie.
I'm wondering if this is just going to be some photograph of a model - or is it going to have some cool motion to it? Like a very very slight rotation - to give it more of a floaty look.

It'll be a awhile before I resume regular work on my edits.
However! I will be getting a brand new computer soon, which will be much better for my editing endeavors.
After I get this new computer, I'll quickly finish up my secret side project, THEN resume work on my edits.

But I don't think that Adywan will just let his logo go untouched for "round two", as it were. And I'm sure once he whips it out, we'll all love it.
Here's how I view it:
1. Lightsabers cast shadows in the OT.
2. Lightsabers are (supposedly) made of plasma, which - like fire - casts a (slight) shadow.
Soooo... lightsabers WOULD cast a shadow, but it would be pretty fuzzy, and you'd only see it if the light shining on it was fairly bright.

Can you explain how you did this, though? I've had a lot of trouble changing the color of the screens.
My idea is to make Anakin more of a Han Solo kind of character. Somebody we like, but is rough around the edges.
Anakin would be a good kid, overall. But he's been brought up in slavery in a harsh environment, so he's rough around the edges. He'd have picked up Watto's mannerisms to a degree, and have a very high "fight to survive" mentality.
Yeah, I'm thinking of giving him a darker feel throughout.
This includes the Greedo deleted scene, and some biting, more sarcastic dialogue changes.
Now... if I could pull off my idea to redub him entirely, this wouldn't be quite so difficult.

Got this idea while poking around at TPM yesterday. What if Anakin was... grittier, rougher, and less innocent? Would the audience's perception change for the boy? Let's find out! :)
I applaud you for staying pure for so long! Impressive. Most impressive.
Oh, certainly. Actually, much of TPM was models (besides anything to do with gungans). Most people don't realize that.
Much of the podrace was CGI, but then again, much of it was models as well.
And almost every spaceship was a model, too. That's one reason I love many of the effects shots in TPM. They're the perfection of the Original Star Wars model shots. As real as they get, really. Then AotC came in, which ditched the models.
If somebody (cough, cough) Adywan (cough), could replace the obviously-CGI space ships and such in AotC and RotS with models, I think a great service would be done.
I would agree that the CGI is WORSE in AotC, but it's shot more realistically.
The GCI in AotC doesn't really look real, but it's generally "filmed" in the space as though it is, which makes it feel - on average - more real than the CGI in RotS, which is really "filmed" as though it's in virtual space - with the camera flying around in crazy, physically impossible ways.
The eye can detect even something like a camera move as unconvincing. The CGI, no matter how real it looks, will look fake if it's presented in a fake way - like with a magically hovering camera.
