The Original Trilogy Trailers/Promos Video Thread (YouTube/Vimeo, etc. finds)

There does appear to be one notable omission from the list of Star Wars Trailers. There is another 1977 Theatrical Trailer that seems to have been forgotten about.

The only downside is that I cannot find a really decent quality version of it.
There is a HD German version though:

Does anyone know if there currently exists a HD version of the US version?

Thanks.

I haven’t found it in HD, no, but your version is still better than the one I posted earlier in the thread; https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/The-Original-Trilogy-TrailersPromos-Video-Thread-YouTubeVimeo-etc-finds/id/73360/page/2#1335360

I checked them side-by-side and the only difference is that this version don’t have the Academy Awards brag at the very end. So this is either a slightly different version of the 1978 re-release trailer, or they simply added the award bit at the end of a re-used 1977 trailer. Do you have any more info about it than what it says on the YT title (they’re usually not that reliable)? I would like to add it to the index, or as a backup t the previous post, but I’m not quite sure when this trailer is actually from.

BTW, the German version seem like a HD recreation using footage from the blu-ray (and perhaps also some despecialized?).

Empire Strikes Back - a 'Behind The Scenes / Making Of' images thread

BTW, does anyone know why they didn’t build the entire set for some of these shots, like in the photo above? Al the windows are clearly there in some BTS photos, and its really obvious (pre-SE anyway) that all but the central window has been added in post when you watch the actual movie.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars To Return With New Episodes
Time

Anchorhead said:

It’s also much more adult than I expected. There is some brutal and decidedly violent killing. No blood, but the tone and execution leave little to the imagination.

As I approach the end of the first season, I’ll say this: Clone Wars has been an extremely unexpected but pleasant surprise. I think I have four episodes to go on seasone one. I should finish up late tonight.

Well, you’re in for a treat then, as IMO the show really picks up in season 3. The first season is fun and all, but it has nothing on the following seasons.

The random YouTube / Vimeo etc video finds thread for the Original Trilogy
Time

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Time Capsule
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppedjj7pvZ4 - from the official Star Wars YouTube channel (3:50 mins long).

The blurb:
“Happy 40th anniversary to The Empire Strikes Back! Travel back with us as we revisit production on the film with exclusive archival behind-the-scenes footage and interviews featuring the cast and creative team.”

I wasn’t quire sure if this fit in the making-ofs thread, so I figured I’d post it here instead. There’s a lot of great BTS footage here, much of which I’ve seen in the various EBS videos posted on the making-ofs thread, but some clips here are completely new to me.

“In the summer of 1981, surrounded on all sides by big budget blockbusters like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Clash of the Titans, Dragonslayer, For Your Eyes Only and Superman II, a modestly scaled independent actioner / social satire called Escape from New York opened, seized the imagination of the public; then went on to become one of the most successful films of it’s year as well as one of the most popular cult films of all time. In this retrospective the original cast and crew (incl. director John Carpenter, co-writer Nick Castle, producer Debra Hill, cinematographer Dean Cundey, and stars Kurt Russell, Adrienne Barbeau, Issac Hayes, Harry Dean Stanton and more) look back decades later on one of the most enjoyable filmic experiences of their careers.”
