STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

How can you tell that the lens - if it's even there - is missing in the other shot?  Maybe it's not even there in the first shot, maybe it's just a weird lighting reflection from off-camera.  If it is actually a lens part on there, maybe it's designed recessed so that you can't see it from the other angle in the second shot.

Find a third shot that proves or dis-proves the existence of the lens one way or the other...that will decide which shot needs to be changed.

I just finished watching Building Empire and there were a LOT of examples of alternate audio from the Super 8mm version.  Don't remember off hand how many of them originated from the first theatrical release, but it might be interesting to investigate them further for the sound mix.

It doesn't make any sence to change the music levels to compliment the sound FX in this case. The original unused cue was meant to be played loud. Either it's incorporated they way it is or it's not used at all. Boosting the level of the sound FX is not a good idea either because you will loose the impact of the music. They both have to balance each other out. Thats the problem with the unused cue, it doesn't balance very well with the sound FX, and that makes it distracting. I really don't see why anybody would want the unused cue over the well established film cue which compliments the sound FX alot better reguardless of the continuity flaw, which has never bothered me or anyone I know for that matter.

Who says that the way you're hearing it in GM's examples are the levels they would have been mixed at for the film itself?  Or for that matter, what makes you think that a store bought audio CD and video DVD - made YEARS APART, mind you - were done at the same audio levels?  The point of GM's examples was to show how the music synced to the film as far as timing and content, not audio mixing quality.  That's a whole separate phase of the sound process.

Audio suggestion for ESB:R

After Han slices the tauntaun, there's two takes of his line...

"This will keep you warm 'til I get the shelter built."
"This will keep you warm 'til I get the shelter up."

Not sure which version is "original", and it's not like one has and advantage over the other, just something to add to the list for the sound mix.

when accessing scenes via the chapter menus, the English subtitle option automatically shows up with the movie. Is there a fix I missed?

It did the same thing on my laptop. I've also noticed that the DVD9 just plays on my laptop- it won't play at all on my old iMac or on my DVD player, but the Purist DVD plays on everything. Probably due to the advancing age of my iMac and DVD player(?)

Probably related to drive age. My DVD-ROM drive in my computer is several years old and won't read DL discs. Purist works on everything because it's a DVD-5, not DVD-9.

#1 is interesting to see not only how well the uncut music syncs to the film but also how MUCH music Williams wrote. It doesn't feel like it needed 12 minutes of continuous music and, depending on your preferences maybe it didn't, but from an editing perspective, it's nice to have that material to work with.

In the 2004 DVD release the digital matte painting added in 1997 became faded in this shot, is there any way to fix that?

they have brightened up the levels so much that in many shots any detail in brighter scenes has been lost. the only sources that i can attempt to repair that matte are cropped at the sides so i don't know how the hell i'm going to be able to fix it yet.

Can you use pieces of the same shot from the GOUT as a...I don't know if there's a name for it...a "contrast mask"...to put back the washed out details?

The second thing, and this really only occurred to me for the first time just last night after having watched this movie dozens of times, is when Red squadron does their 'standing by' routine during the approach on the Death Star. For whatever reason, they don't call out in sequential order, as in Red 1 should go first, then Red 2, etc. This makes no sense to me, as you would not really know when you are expected to do your 'standing by' call if everyone was just calling out randomly. The only reason I could come up with for why Lucas chose to do it this way is that the call out order was based on rank, not number. Now I know this is being incredibly anal, but the more I think about it, the more it bugs me. Anyway, these might be things for future editors to attempt (or myself if I ever decide to take a stab at it).

At first, I thought Ady had un-done one of his editing choices, as I had downloaded the DVD-5 version first, then he released the DVD-9 and Purist versions, because I remember seeing that scene edited so that the pilots call out in sequence. After some digging thru my discs, I realized I saw it that way in "Deleted Magic", not Revisited.

I put this in Ady's SW:R thread, but I have a feeling it's going to get lost in there. ;-)

For those that are interested, I whipped up my own contribution to the ever growing SW:R artwork collection - a track listing insert. It assumes you did what I did...made SW:R into a 2-disc set - DVD9 as the "main" disc and Purist as the "bonus" disc. I'm working on single disc versions.

Get it from my web site I've also got some other ones there for other films.

I used slightly cropped versions of Ady's cover art for the outer pages with a scan of a vintage poster for the inner artwork. I also had to modify Ady's artwork ever so slightly...see if you can tell what I did.

It works like this - get yourself some thin photo paper, or heavy regular paper, that has the same sheen on both sides. A lot of photo papers are only glossy/matte on one side and are "standard paper grade" on the other.

Fire up your graphics program of choice and load one of the parts - doesn't matter which. Adjust the margin settings so it will print perfectly centered on the page both horizontally and vertically. Print. Load the other part and print it the same way on the other side of the page.

Cut out and fold in half.

Like I said, the buildings don't match the other shot of the Falcon anyway. Too bad they're the same as Slave 1's also. Oh, and Slave one's clear cockpit got bluescreened all the way out. Maybe we could do something about that too.

Yes the buildings and clouds should be changed in the one of those shots. (Falcon and Slave I) It seems there is yet another differing set of buildings behind Fett in the shot where frozen Han is being loaded up into Slave I, if you can post that one too, that would be great. Thanks for all the screencaps!

Better to change the Slave I shots. If he changes the Falcon shots, then he has to change ALL the Falcon shots from back when it lands in the first place.

At least they recomposited Cloud City to make it different sizes.

Look at those clouds between the two shots, they are reversed negative, but yes the city is different sizes, in one of those shots the clouds should be completely changed, it doesn't matter which shot.
.

Change the X-Wing shot. The X-Wing doesn't go through the clouds, it's just matted in front, so no blending FX needed like would be to keep the gas satellite thing in the first shot.
