STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I GIVE UP!!!!

Kurgan, you are a two-faced asshole. First you come in here forcing your "blue TIE" argument until everyone gets up your ass about it, NOW all of a sudden you're defending Ady's decisions to do what he wants in the first place?

MAKE UP YOUR FUCKING MIND!!!!

Jezuz-Tap-Dancing-Christ! You gotta find a way to be right no matter which side of the discussion you're on!

Pick a FUCKING SIDE and STICK WITH IT! If you wanna be an asshole, be an asshole. If you want to sit back and have fun, sit back and have fun. But DON'T keep switching back and forth depending on which way you see everyone else going at the moment.

Abrams is Destroying Star Trek like Lucas has Destroyed Star Wars
Time

This is also only the second promo. Films usually have three -

Teaser - this is usually very vague, rarely has any footage from the film. It's just enough to tell the audience "Yes, the film is being made".

First trailer - this shows key images and characters from the film but usually reveals little if any info about the plot.

Second trailer - this one finally gives you the TV Guide version of what the story itself is about and how the various characters and images connect beyond what you didn't figure out already.

So far, we've seen the Teaser and First trailer. The Second trailer usually shows up within 2 to 3 months of release, so we should be seeing that one somewhere in the February to March range. That will be the one to pay attention to. These first two are just to GET your attention and get buzz going.

The Executor might be dark blue on the bottom and gray on the top... or it may be that the "other" command ships (mentioned in ROTJ) are not the same color as the Executor.

Holy shit, you're reaching. You GOTTA find a way to be right about EVERYTHING, don't you?

See, now I think the gray Executor looks better because, being a model builder (by hobby, not by trade), my logic is that all the other SDs are grey, why shouldn't the SSD be grey also? They're made from the same materials, and I don't think fashion is the Empire's top priority. The SSD is meant to stand out just based on its size...I don't think anyone can mistake it for a regular SD, so why should it be a different color?

That being said, the only reason I ever accepted it as a darker color in any sense was that because it was both bigger and that most of the shots we see it in are from below, I just figured the bottom was logically in shadow because of the size. In ROTJ, most of the shots you see it in from the top, it's grey like all the other SDs.

I don't doubt your explanation. Most likely, Lucas made the decision due to the contrasts in color. But that does make me question the AT-ATs' laser color, because that trailer proves that he himself intended to give the AT-ATs green lasers. This means that the correct and appropriate color was green, but was changed only as a cosmetic decision, with the thinking that red would stand out better on Hoth. There will certainly be people on both ends of the spectrum here, as far as which looks better, but the bottom line is that it was supposed to be green, and was changed later in production due to color contrasts with the snow/sky. Based on that, I feel that the lasers could certainly be changed to green without upsetting any continuity. I understand that Adywan is against this, so I won't be mentioning this again, but my feeling is that if Lucas had planned for green lasers, and only changed them because of how they looked against the sky, then this whole suggestion of changing them back to green was certainly not out of the realm of possibility. Myself, I thought they really jumped out in the trailer, but then I didn't really have a problem with Luke's blue lightsaber on tatooine, either. I think Lucas was more concerned about those contrasts than he needed to be.

Gotta call you out on the bolded parts there, man. That's "Modern Lucas" mentality, that he always had ultimate dictatorial control over every bit of minutia. Back in those days, he wasn't the control freak he is now. It's just as equally possible that ILM did the green lasers on a whim because they were under a deadline to deliver a finished shot for the trailer, THEN Lucas took the time to look at it after the trailer was out and said "Make them red in the final film".

I'm also in the "don't care either way" camp, but Ady's attitude since the beginning of ANH:R has generally been "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Lucas changing things just because it CAN be changed is what got SW into this mess in the first place.

I also was under the impression that it was the same probe droid, but it doesn't really make sense and it doesnt need to be seen crashing twice. And thanks for the clarification, Rhikter. I actually never thought of it like that, lol. I think I'm stupid haha.

Yeah, I also agree that this post ESB:R stuff is too interesting to not talk about. Someone should make a seperate thread for it maybe? Let me know!

Q from Star Trek-The Next Generation:

Must you be so linear, Jean-Luc?

The star destroyer launched a half dozen probes down onto the planet. Why can't the one we saw be one of them and the one Luke saw be a different one? A third could have been the one that saw the shield generator and the one that Han and Chewie shot could have been a fourth.

It doesn't matter which probe droid is which.

How much i wish That the prequels and special editions never existed so questions like this one would not have to be asked, and would be irrelevant.

This like the question on versions of the movies would not have to be debated if the saga ended in 1983 like it should have.

Just Like Indiana Jones should have been left alone after last crusade.

All Lucas did was go back and destroy 2 of the favorite franchises of my youth, and added Bad and fake cgi where it was neither wanted or needed.

1999 Phantom Menace was hard to stomach Racist Characters like Jar Jar and the Gungans, and the Nemodians. Poop and Fart Jokes and writing that could have been put together by a juvenile moron.

You'd make a wonderful politician. You give big, long winded, self serving speeches that don't address the original question.

Hmm, I find it interesting that everyone with C-3PO as their avatar are liberals.

This from a guy whose avatar is a Cylon - a race of single-minded robots that want to control everything, that tried to destroy the free thinking people who value life, freedom and prosperity.

And yours is a droid with his erect dork hanging out. I was just making the observation. Not trying to offend. It seemed like with the old forum software many of the liberals had the same C-3PO avatar.

As for Chewy who said the late night talk shows are the biggest loosers, you must not remember the Clinton years. They got by just fine back then.

I wasn't around for the old forum software. I picked that shot of 3P0 because it was humorous...nothing more.

Truly a wonderful, and terrible, moment in America. While we succeeded in placing into office a black American, and thereby proven that we have achieved a post racial world, we also placed into office a socialist. It is a shame we had to sell out the American idea to break racial barriers.

"The American idea" - IOW, what we've had for the past several years...a country run like a conglomerate corporation, only concerned about the bottom line and the paychecks of its leaders, working towards their own ends instead of the prosperity of their employees, all the while throwing those employees the scraps and spare change, then wondering why those "valuable employees" aren't doing their jobs and aren't committed to turning things around.

You like things like the Patriot Act(s) that essentially give the government free reign to spy on anyone they feel like AND THEN find a reason for it? You want leaders who control, for all practical purposes, every major source of income - real estate, banking and oil being the most recent subjects - who when faced with the "downfall" of those operations do what...try to come to the rescue of "the people" by writing themselves a multi-billion dollar check to solve the problem they created in the first place?

People should not be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.
