Antivirus for po' people?
Time

Take it one step further when you uninstall. After you get rid of the old version, Start>Run>regedit. Keep searching the registry (Edit>Find...) for AVG and delete any entries. That will bring your system back to where there is no evidence that any version was ever installed. Then you can install the new one without remnants of the old one accidentally getting in your way.

Well, if you want to get really technical about it, the matte is the black area that blocks out some other part of the frame, keeping that area of the film unexposed so that you can then put something else in there on the next exposure. So a matte painting is the painted image that goes in the matte area.

HD was standard when he did it. But it's to hard to work in 1080 they say. ESB will be 720

He started doing ESBR in 1080 but even with his new QuadCore it was taking forever, plus the higher res limits the amount of sources he can pull bits and pieces from to fix and update the FX, since the quality difference would be that much more obvious.

Walmart,Best Buy,and others Blu-ray Specials

I have CE3K, DK KOTCS and ANBC on standard, and I'd like to avoid double-dipping, at least for a while. Picked up 2001 - FYE had it on sale for $10, which is a great deal even for them. Already had that on standard, but a friend didn't, so I'm giving the standard disc to him. Money aside, I'm trying to avoid double-dipping because my regulard DVD player is upconverting, so I figure it's close enough until I find deals on various Blu discs that do warrant upgrading.

I'm going to see what FYE has in their used section over the course of the week and see if something hits me.

Well, I took half a plunge into BluRay - I got a BD drive for my computer, which I will eventually run a cable to the TV. For $80, I figured it was a good deal compared to a stand alone player, even a Magnavox or Sylvania for $170.

So, what movies SHOULD I get on Blu? For moment earlier this week, I was debating buying Watchmen on Blu because it has more supplemental features than the standard DVD, but of course Murphy's Law struck and I bought and opened the standard disc last night, so I can't return it now. I'll get the Ultimate cut on Blu in December.

I'm not looking to re-buy my entire collection, I'd rather be more selective. Comedies and dramas don't need Blu. (Ok, maybe the Remastered Godfather box set qualifies, but that's it.)

Suggestions?

I don't doubt that Max inspired IG.

I didn't say that. All I said is that they remind me of each other. ;)

I know. All I'm saying is that I think that Joe Johnston or whoever did that sketch may have had Max on the brain. The timing was about right - when Black Hole was being promoted and coming out, Empire was still in production.

Idea & Info: 'Watchmen - The Graphic Novel Cut'...

Don't discount the possibility of keeping the slo-mo scenes as is. Most people associate it with "bullet time" from The Matrix, but James Cameron did about a half-dozen slo-mo scenes in T2. He explained it as a way to make it easier for the audience to get the geography of where various characters were in scenes where it would have been hard to keep track of them if it were shown in real time.

Not the entire duration, and I would only use quick flashes anyway (probably sped up too, since those shots are in slow motion in the film) - if I do end up using them at all (which I might not), I'm pretty confident that I can avoid the credit text.

Pay close attention to the credit text. There are several instances where the credits are reflected or shadowed onto the scene itself, and others where the characters are walking in front of or behind the credits, as if the text is physically there in the scene with the actors.

You don't need to have a Star Destroyer descending on the city...that's killing a fly with a sledgehammer.

Have some TIEs and that Imperial Landing Craft that they added to the Sandtrooper scenes in ANH coming in and start shooting buildings and such, maybe have some just pass by a window, lasers firing, but we don't need to see what they're shooting. Just create the sense that "the Empire has taken control of the city", as Lando just announced.

I hope ady showcases the space battle and the death star battle for our main attention. All I need to see is the rebels on Endor turning off the shield generator. Then back to the important dark duel. Coz the Endor Forrest battle is a mood killer.

It really does kill the mood.... But the space battle in ROTJ is still IMHO the greatest of all the films. I'm still amazed at how well the ships maneuvered with them being models on wires. Great work.

Seriously I agree. I mean, each ship is a separately shot element composited who knows how much time later. It's impressive. And to only have a couple mislayered/disappearing elements is extremely impressive.

Check out Babyhum's How To Film The Impossible disc. There's a section in there where they're talking about "shot SB-19" from ROTJ - that's the big shot where the Falcon swoops towards the screen as swarms of TIEs come in from out of frame. They open up about 6 boxes of little spools of film, each box containing about 30 to 40 spools. Then they show this giant spreadsheet with X's all over it explaining that "anywhere you see an X is where one ship crosses in front of another."

It's amazing they managed to finish that shot at all.

How do you know this?

He knows the ways of the force. He's been trained to use the dark side.

Are you sure?

Absolutely.

Then our worst fears have been realised.

We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive...

Can't anyone give me a serious answer? lol

Why so serious?

How 'bout a magic trick?
