clone wars season II
Time

At the SW panel at SDCC, the cast and producers admitted that S1 was a little bumpy because they were trying to figure out where "the line" was between what Cartoon Network would allow and what was true to what has to happen among the characters to fit in continuity with the films and overall SW universe.  Now that they worked the bugs out of the system, S2 should be a lot better.

Whoa, I've never seen that De La Foret before! Have I somehow never been fortunate enough to see one throughout all my years of browsing any and every store that sold old collectable toys, or is it perhaps another one of those across the pond exclusives?

No, it was available in US packaging too, it just came out near the end of the line so it was a little harder to get.

Star Tours II: New Footage released

Not "from the Falcon's view" - tracking/following the Falcon.  Remember, it has to stay in the context of a tour bus that got thrown off course and wanders into the events from the films and accompanies the main characters.  The only "role playing" so to speak is that you as a passenger are still yourself but in the SW universe...you're not stepping into another character's role.

Wookie Groomer's 1080p Star Wars Saga project (Released)
Time

Did I find these by accident?

Somewhere in my learning how to download torrents, I acquired 6 8G files that say 1080p.HDTV.x264-HV at the end, with each film's title following the pattern above, the full title with periods between each word.  They're all MKV files, each in their own folder, within which is a "sample" folder with a clip from that film that's between 60 and 70 meg.

Now, when I try to play these, either the samples or the full files, with VLC, they hang there for a few seconds and then nothing happens - the main button changes from pause back to play.  Clicking it again just does the same thing.

So, what exactly did I find and how do I get them to play?

Ok, kneejerk complaints about image quality and Prequel era content aside, keeping the original destination and adding the new content into the roster makes perfect business sense.

The last Star Tours I was at was the one in MGM Disney Florida back in 2001.  IIRC, there's four shuttles you can get in but right now they all go to the same destination.  Multiple destinations now means that you can choose where you want to go depending which shuttle you get in, effectively just like a real airport.

That means more people will be going through the ride multiple times to get to see all the destinations instead of just coming back for the same one over and over.

When I state that I think Adywan should work for Lucasfilm its basically saying that "I wish that Mr. Lucas would listen to the voice of the fans" and I firmly believe that Adywan as produced a significantly different edit than I have ever seen before. That in itself is something that I personally think that George Lucas could use. A no-man, someone who rethinks the whole project.

Gary Kurtz.

Lucas had a "no-man" at the beginning.  Kurtz left after TESB.

Yeah, as I said, I'm not doubting the game systems abilities, it's just that they're designed as gaming systems first, and that's primarily what you're paying for.  The rest is just a bonus.  Why spend $200 to $300 for the bonus features when I can get those same bonus features AS the main features for $100?

I'm planning on getting a Blu-Ray player when the prices start coming down around or just after Christmas.  There are a few sub-$199 players out now and I figure they'll be down to the sub-$150 range by the holidays.

As far as using the game systems, any media file conversion they do is thrown in as a convenience.  Since I'm not going to use it AS a game system, it's a waste of money to me, and would take up more space than the WD TV anyway.

I also prefer to have all my system components be dedicated to what they were designed for.  I'd rather have four boxes that each do one thing well than one box that does four things half-ass.

I am a little late but the main reason I put blue LED's in Luke's hand was so he could change the batteries out in the dark. LOL. maybe he tweeks the settings once in a while.

If I had the talent, I'd make an animated gif of the arm with a holographic blinking "12:00" projecting out of it.

How to print DVD covers
Time

Yes, but you still need to get a pack of legal size paper.  Shouldn't run you more than $5 or so at Staples or your office supply store of choice.

The problem is that a standard DVD cover is just a hair too big to fit on 8.5 x 11 allowing for the printer's default margins...well, my printer anyway, HP 7150.  If your printer can do "full bleed" printing, then maybe you can squeeze a cover onto standard paper.  If you get into wider covers though for multiple disc cases, you'll definitely need legal paper then.

Either way, the point is that you have something already in Windows to print the cover.  You don't need to hunt down a special application, just learn how to use what you already have.

And yes, once it's printed, just trim off the excess.  Metal straight edge and an X-Acto.

That's weird.  The story I heard with the '87 releases was that the first two albums were originally produced mono only.  They couldn't find all the stereo tapes for the next two, so those were made mono just to keep the songs consistent with one another.  Everything beyond that was stereo, period, so I figured this was the same pattern, just re-mastered with current equipment to clean up the clarity more.

Never heard that story, and at any rate it isn't true - there were stereo and mono versions of every album up until Abbey Road (there was a mono version of Yellow Submarine, but it was just a fold-down of the stereo mixes, even though mono mixes *were* made, and are included in the Mono Masters disc in the mono remaster box set).

The first four albums were only released in mono on CD in 87 because the stereo mixes had all the vocals hard-panned to either the right or left.  Because the tracks weren't individually separated, these albums could not be remixed, so the mono versions were used.

The next two albums had vocals hard-panned as well (Help! and Rubber Soul), but since those were recorded mutli-track, they were able to be remixed from the original master stems.  George Martin himself remixed them so the vocals were more centered.

Revolver onward had better stereo mixes (no more hard-panning of the vocals), so they were untouched and released in stereo.

The original stereo mixes of Help! and Rubber Soul, with all the hard-panning intact, will be included with the mono versions of those albums in the mono box set - the stereo set and individual releases will use the remixes.

OK, that must be it then.  I knew there was something published about the stereo source material not being available so the albums were remixed to mono but I didn't remember the details...or at least not remember them correctly.
