Lucas had drive and grand vision he wanted to share but people forget that it's not just him that made Star Wars what it was/is...

You know, I've got a friend who knows Star Wars as "everybody" knows it (making a few difference with "everyone" here), and I was surprised when a few months ago he took a closer look at my work and he said: "Well, as far as I understand the success of the firsts Star Wars is not due to George Lucas, but mostly to the people he worked with..." !

To notice this friend is not a scholar at all concerning cinema, directors etc... And we're even not american, nor english... So don't worry too much about what people think.

Oh I actually don't care what people think concerning my opinion. lol... I take orders from just one person, me. Yes, it's a wonder I'm still alive.... =D I'll take orders from Ady however, (so I guess that's two people instead of just me? ^^) but should he or anyone reach Lucas level psychosis then obviously I may alter the deal (pray... etc etc you know the line. lol) but I seriously doubt this will happen with Ady. ;) Besides, my original intent was to draw some of the fire away from the cruiser. Looks like it worked... ^^

Is that a new record for how many bits of SW dialogue someone has worked into a single reply and still had it make sense?

Or maybe it's just another room in another building that was made by the same contractor so he used the same design and just added ceiling panels.

The production crew redressed the set to save money instead of building a whole new room for a single shot. Stop overthinking everything.

Something bothers me. Looking at this now, I'm curious as to the geography of everything. So, Luke lands on Cloud City, and moves around inside the city trying to rescue his friends until he comes to the lift which sends him upwards into the carbon freezing chamber. After round one of the duel, he walks down a rather short tunnel inside the gantry structure where he then gets blown out the window, and lands down on the exterior walkway. Exactly how is this entire journey possible looking at that structure? How does Luke get from the freezing chamber into at the top of the structure? All of the landing platforms are at the very top of the city. How does he end up getting further down and deeper inside it when the lift takes him UPWARDS into the chamber? What am I missing?

Yeah this was debated (at length!!!!) around pages 450

It's a nice design but doesn't make sense!

J

Short answer was that we just didn't (and don't need to) see every step of his journey from the landing pad to crossing paths with everyone else to the CFC.

Call it "dramatic license".

The Empire Strikes Back "1980 Theatrical version" Reconstruction - Adywan (Released)

Ok, I grabbed the DLCs from paradox, loaded them into Jdownloader and just finished getting everything. Now, when I run QuickPar on the audio fix, it says I'm missing the part01.rar file for it. Was there something wrong with the DLC that it didn't have the link to it? Where can I get the missing file?

The Empire Strikes Back "1980 Theatrical version" Reconstruction - Adywan (Released)

Is there any way to get Ady's name OFF of torrents? I just did a search for "Adywan" and his name came up on a bunch of non-SW stuff - Crank 2, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Mission Impossible. I don't think he'd waste his time with any of those, especially since some appear to be just rips of the DVDs, not edits.

I'm with 005 on this one. The idea's very cool as an intro to a bonus disc, but for me, that classic 20th Century Fox fanfare and logo, followed by the Lucasfilm logo, is the start of Star Wars. Tinkering with it, therefore, seems like a bad idea to me.

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that, to this day, whenever I'm watching a movie from 20th Century Fox and that logo and music start up, for a fraction of a second I get excited because my brain thinks it's about to see Star Wars (see... Pavlov was right!). Why mess with something that ingrained our our collective heads?

My brain works the same way.

You're not the only ones.

From the '97 SE soundtrack liner notes:

It was George Lucas' inspired creative stroke to reintroduce [the Fox fanfare] when Fox released Star Wars in 1977. Within a few years, the fanfare was in general use again, and to the Star Wars generation, the fanfare became so identified with the films that a truly complete presentation of the music from the soundtrack would be amiss to eliminate it.

ImgBurn is no longer "freeware" in the strictest sense - the latest version is actually "foistware" (it comes bundled with the Ask Toolbar).

But this discussion belongs in the How-To's and Technical Discussions forum.

ImgBurn is still fully free. I just installed the latest version. It only installs the Ask toolbar if you mindlessly "next>next>next" your way thru the installation wizard. If you take your time, you can un-check the option to install the Ask toolbar.

Guys, guys, guys...you're not using your heads. There's a way Sev can get his stills without Ady revealing anything new until release.

Sev wants 30 frames. That Fox logo runs about 30 seconds. All Ady has to do is post frames from each successive second of the Fox logo.

I mean, Sev didn't say WHICH 30 frames he wanted, right? ;-)p

I have no need for it but rather than copying the whole disk and replacing audio tracks why not just release the various dubs as MP3 files that people can play while watching their existing SW:R disc?

MP3 is not a valid audio format for DVD.

Re-authoring a DVD with a replacement AC3 audio track is not difficult; Adywan issued fixed audio and instructions on how to do this for his TPM Theatrical Version release.

What I mean is just keep the file separate and playable outside of the DVD so that we don't end up with 897,000 different DVDs of SW:R out there with every language imaginable, because then the forums will be flooded with posts like

"I just found SW:R and it looks great but I can't understand it because the language is in Klingon. Anyone else have this problem?"

"Yeah, me too except it's in Huttese."

"Mine's in Esperanto."

"I found one in Pig Latin! Anyone got the Sanskrit version?"

A six movie set released by Fox, it's gonna be expensive. I wonder how many people would consider the lack of OOT a dealbreaker. I wonder if LFL is doing that market research right now.

They already have the results of that "market research" - the sales numbers when they released the GOUT. Gotta wonder what the actual numbers were compared to the '04 box set.
