Can you ask him to make "flipped" versions so that the backs can become the fronts and vice versa? All that would be involved is 180* image rotation but leaving the spine title oriented as it is now.

Sansweet's leaving Lucasfilm....
Time

I know the current rumor is that the BD's are scheduled to come out around the end of '11 but it's possible they could show up in May, more or less in sync with the traditional SW theatrical release date, right?

Sansweet announced that in April 2011 he will be leaving the company

So, he's leaving in April. Let's say for the sake of argument that the BD's will come out in May.

. . . ',:-|

Pretty interesting timing, huh? Think maybe he knows for sure something we all suspect and wants to avoid the backlash?

Help Wanted: Batman - featuring Adam West - anyone cap it on The Hub tv channel?

I'm rather shocked to hear it isn't on DVD, frankly.

Warner Bros. and Fox have been in a legal pissing contest over releasing the series on video for ages. (IIRC, this made the "Return to the Batcave" reunion tv movie a tightrope act.) Thankfully, the 1966 movie was covered by a separate deal, and has enjoyed a long life on video.

Not just Fox and WB but various other entities involved with the production - George Barris retained rights to the Batmobile design and only recently started to loosen the purse strings. There's also the estates of some of the producers to deal with.

Help Wanted: Batman - featuring Adam West - anyone cap it on The Hub tv channel?
Time

The first episode aired a few hours ago (repeats at 5:30AM Eastern if anyone is still up reading at this hour) and I recorded it but the only means I have of getting it off my DVR box is to copy it down to standard def, which defeats the purpose of recording it in HD.

I've heard stories of people literally taking their cable boxes apart, putting the HD in their computer, copying the files out and putting the drive back in the cable box. Mine is a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD. Anyone have the same box on their system and can talk me through the procedure or point me to a site with instructions?

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

And why are you so fucking offended at an innocent question? Maybe rockin is asking because he's trying to learn about some technical difference between the cards that may have influenced Ady's decision and wants an opinion from someone who actually has one instead of technical review sites that blather out endless specifications without explaining what they mean in the real world.

It's amazing how much effort you put into not only attacking everyone who crosses your path but also intentionally get into other people's paths to make it appear that they crossed you, thereby giving you a reason to be even more of an asshole.

I found myself hoping that the Purist version kept the scene in its original order.

The Purist Edition does have Ben's hut scene dialogue in the original order (according to the wiki).

Hmm, my alleged copy of Purist must actually be another copy of Revisited then. It sounds like I need to get a copy of Purist!

You don't even have to go that far into the film to tell the difference. Right at the beginning, if 3PO says "There'll be no escape for the princess this time", it's Purist. If he says "There's be no escape this time", it's the DVD5/9.

Hell, just firing up the disc at all will let you know which it is - Purist doesn't have any kind of menus or bonus features, the film just starts right up.

I'm not sure this has been tried with a "virgin" yet, I'd like to see how it goes.

I was just going to suggest this as well. Doing it this way, the PT becomes a giant "flashback" in the films explaining how we got to "I am your father", then we come back to "current" time and finish the story with ROTJ.

I don't know if it was ever mentioned, but were there ever any official transport ship model available, perhaps from MPC?

I mentioned it a few pages ago but then someone found the images in Chronicles and sent scans to Ady.

James Cameron uses DVNR on Aliens Blu Ray transfer.
Time

What would be the Photoshop/still image equivalent of DVNR? I was trying to explain the effects of DVNR to someone over the weekend but even with stills from BD review sites it was hard for them to tell the difference. If I could take a picture and say "It's like applying ____________ in PS", then it might be a little easier to see the difference and how DVNR works.

The reason they became known as "matte" paintings is because one of the ways to frame a picture you hang on your wall is to use a matte - a colored piece of cardboard that surrounds the picture that allows you to put a smaller picture into a larger frame instead of putting it in a frame the exact size of the picture. The FX paintings became known as "matte" paintings because they work the same way - surrounding the filmed element to create the illusion that the total image is bigger than what was on the original film.

While it's not huge, there is a model of the Rebel Transport in the old Hoth Rebel Base model kit. It's about 9 inches long and would need detail work but for just one or two shots, and background material at that, it might be doable. If you're re-creating the same shot exactly then you only need to build it up enough for what you're going to see, which appears to be starboard side nose area.

That's just one example I found at Starship Modeler.
