STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

This may be getting into EU retconning, but who's to say Vader doesn't have multiple spare helmets? Maybe different ones are designed differently internally and that particular day in TESB he just happened to be using a "one piece" helmet, or a "two piece" version that one day in ROTJ. Maybe he started with the two-piece in ROTS, changed to the one-piece somewhere along the way and then went back to the two-piece somewhere after-ESB/before ROTJ.

Of course, the real reason is that ESB is the first time we see him without his helmet so they hadn't fully thought through how his helmet would break apart - they just did what worked for the scene - then re-designed the concept when they got to ROTJ.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

Not that I have blind faith that the OT will be fixed, but the theory about the BD trailer having new TPM shots but old OT shots could theoretically make sense...from a certain point of view.

Since they have to do new transfers of all six films, logically they started with the Prequels since those are the newer films and will require less effort to transfer, especially with AOTC and ROTS already having been filmed digitally in the first place. Maybe they're done transferring the PT but are still working on transferring the OT, so all they had available for the trailer were the original DVD versions.

Plus, putting aside image quality, the editing of the entire piece looks like it was done more for advertising purposes rather than an actual demonstration of the BD transfer. Watch it from a strict marketing perspective - the shots they chose are the ones you'd expect to see in a promotional piece - action sequences and iconic imagery.

Again, not saying I expect the OT to look better but until more info comes out, there's still a grey area (blue area? :-)p ) in the final treatment of the OT.

IF - not an issue. Look at the front shot after Vader is on the platform - it's illuminated from below - that means the platform is a little higher up than it appears to be. Now look at the side shot - all you can see is the chamfered edge of the platform - the illumination is out of frame. That means the edge of the meditation chamber steps are below frame also.

And even if they weren't below frame, it looks like there's a good four feet between the bottom step and the platform, so the bottom step could also be just out of frame on the left.

Ady...noticed on the ESB:R facebook page that you were contemplating moving release to the end of 2011...did you ever make a decision on that?

He's just giving himself "wiggle room" to deal with any more potential problems as well as time to deal with family issues - dad being sick and all.

Preserving the...cringe...Star Wars Holiday Special (Released)
Time

I'm sure this has come up earlier in this thread but I'll ask again anyway - is anyone working on a Definitive Restoration from all the available versions? I'd attempt it if I had the time and resources, but I don't.

What I would do if I could would be to start with whatever the best overall version is and then swap in specific shots from other versions to eliminate station IDs and technical problems, maybe even swap in some of the FX shots that were re-used from ANH and "down filter" them to make the video quality more on par with the surrounding footage.

3. When Yoda says "Judge me by my size, do you?", his eyes move to look at Luke half way through the line. But shouldn't he be looking at Luke the whole line (and the ones in that angle before then, too)? Why would he be staring off into nothingness while directly talking to Luke until the eye movement?

No, it works as is.

"Size matters not. Look at me." - he's looking straight and raising his head up in pride as he says the line.

"Judge me by my size, do you?" - as he looks at Luke in a questioning manner.

OK, looking for a little reconnaissance info here. A friend told me to record this show on HD Theater about hot rods because he noticed something familiar in it.

In the show, they were talking about a SEMA show that took place in the 1960's. SEMA's web site has pics from a show in 1967 that has all the other pics from this TV show in it except for this one. Judging from the clothing and hair styles, these pics above look like they're from the early 70's.

Logically, considering the timeline, Lucas went to one of these SEMA shows (it's a known fact that he was into car racing before becoming a film maker) and saw this thing on the show floor. He then probably took pictures of it, made sketches or even got in touch with whoever built it and ultimately used it as the basis for R2.

Anyone got any more info on this? Anyone know exactly when & where it's from or who would know more about it?

I was just thinking about the "I know" scene and how it was much longer and sappier than that originally. Did they film it in the original incarnation? I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure that version was filmed because there's commentary or interview somewhere of Kersh saying that they filmed it a few times with the sappier dialogue and none of them - Kersh, Ford or Fisher - felt like it was working. That was when Kersh told Ford "Don't think about what to say, just go with your gut" (or something to that effect) and that's when Ford came up with "I know".

I think Ady mentioned once that it was some kind of timing thing that happened in between the DVD5 and DVD9. I have both and on the 5 "That's me!" is in the correct spot. When he made the 9, he made some minor change to something that affected the timing by a second or so but didn't adjust the text commentary track along with it.

I don't know how much you believe in holistic medicine and self-healing but you might want to look into it. There's a well known story out there about Dirk Benedict - the original Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica - curing his prostate cancer by changing his diet. The theory is that different types of cancer "feed" on different nutrients, enzymes and such found in different parts of your bloodstream and organs. By changing your diet, you change the balance and availability of those elements and effectively "starve" the cancer away.

Will it work for you? Who knows, but it's better than doing nothing.

My Godson dropped me an e-mail (in bright green comic-sans) informing me that he has now seen ANH:R "tonnes of times".

He thinks that the changes may be somewhere near the end (bless).

I sent him a link to the comparison page and he loves spot the difference books so hopefully that will keep him occupied for 15 nanoseconds.

Teach him how to turn on the text commentary track.

CAPRICA: The Resurrection!
Time

I think part of the reason we only get six episodes at a time and then a break that seems to last forever is because the idiots at "SyFy" (probably the same ones that thought of changing the name) are so damn non-committal and afraid to take chances. They want to give themselves "outs" at every possible opportunity, so when they do decide to cancel a show mid-stream it gives them time to invent some bullshit reason to deflect blame away from their own stupidity.
