'Star Wars' Set To Music From 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan'
Time

Interesting idea, but it's less "set to music" as it is "music overdubbed". Try replacing specific pieces of music in specific parts of the film -

Put the TMP title theme over the crawl.

Put Scotty's bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace over the scene after Ben's death when Luke is mourning him in the Falcon.

I'm sure there are plenty more opportunities but that should get you started.

The only real problem with The Clone Wars, to me, is that they try to do a lot of this fanservice. The problem with that being we are generally a group of fans that don't really want it.

They should really be trying out new and exciting and different things, rather than shoehorning a bunch of old characters and concepts in, whether it works or not, or whether it can be retconned to work or not.

Oh well. At least their Chewie looks right.

That's a delicate balance to strike. Too much new stuff and people complain that it doesn't feel like the original. Too many references to the original and people complain that it's just rehashed old shit.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Hello.

I'm new to these forums, but I watched Adywan's ANH:R and was astounded by the level of detail worked on to deliver such great revisions. I was wondering if there's any chance of ESB being released ever or has Adywan dropped off the map?

He's come this far, he's not giving up now. Real life interferes every now and then - his dad has been very sick, he's had some computer problems from time to time and he's building some models and props to film replacement shots because he can't do much with certain existing ones. He also gets flooded with emails and PMs so he tries to condense his posts to respond to several people/issues at once.

When have you quoted Star Wars lines in the right situation?
Time

For years when I lived at home, there was a yearly bargaining session between me and my mom about which top to put on the Christmas tree. She had this spike-looking kind of thing whereas I wanted the classic star top. Every year we'd go through this..."You let me have mine this year and I'll let you have yours next year...".

Eventually, my sister got married, moved out, had kids. The first Christmas after I moved out, my parents ask me to go over to help set up the tree (they're in their 60's and don't have the strength to hoist a tree up). Mom is all proud of herself because now she can have the tree top she wants and no one can argue with her - dad never really cared either way.

As she's standing there gloating, dad says "Well, y'know, Geoffrey (the younger of my sister's boys, aka one of my mom's grandsons) said that he likes the star top on the tree." Mom shoots me a dirty look, as if I had something to do with it.

I just smile and say "The Force can have a strong influence on the weak mind."

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

The DRM copy protection is so new and so heavy that a lot of players can't play the disc because the player thinks it's a bootleg. And this is AFTER doing firmware updates. There have been reports - though not as many - of people having the same problem with the Alien Quad BD set.

So the bottom line is that Fox is trying so hard to combat piracy that people are resorting TO piracy just to be able to see the movie they can't see because of Fox's efforts.

This latest version has his right eye so dark it seems like he's got a black eye, and that smile (in my opinion) doesn't belong there.

Although this whole thing is now academic, since Ady has said he's happy with this clip and is done with it, I just wanted to reply to this. Regarding the "black eye", yeah, I guess upon comparing both images, the shadow over the Emperor's left eye (our right) does seem more pronounced in the newer clip. However, it's just showing what was already there. Having brightened the image may, therefore, be questionable to some, but it does bring it visually more in line with the other holograms in the saga.

As for the Emperor not smiling...

what movie are you watching? ;)

I never said he doesn't smile, I also never said that the smile looks fake, I merely said that I think he shouldn't smile in that particular scene.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. Let's try it with some emoticons. Ready?

Emp: The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi. >:-|

Vader: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

Emp: Yes...yes. He would be a great asset. ',:-)

The Emperor is smiling because Vader just gave him a cool idea he hadn't considered a minute ago.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I think a lot of people try to get their $0.0843 in ($0.02 adjusted for inflation) because they CAN, not because it's NEEDED. Ady has said on occasion that he welcomes all this input and isn't afraid to do a new take on something if someone comes up with a good enough idea, but I think a lot of people ran with that and are trying to point out stuff hoping that Ady will change his mind based on their comment, thereby giving themselves some kind of "artificial win" of being able to say that Ady took their suggestion and not someone else's.

It's not a contest, people. We're here to be extra eyes and offer opinions but in the end, everything is Ady's decision since he's the one doing the edit. If he continually says "no" regardless of it being the 3rd or 5th or 8th time you've brought it up, let it go. If you keep harping on it, he'll go out of his way to ignore you just to piss you off. (Well, I know I would if I were him. That said, there have been times where Ady has dumped his can of whup-ass on certain people.)

Make your case for or against the issue at hand and move on - whatever happens, happens...live with it. You don't like it, go do your own edit.

It seems like every time you post a new clip, someone has an issue with the audio, and you have to remind them that you won't work on audio until the video is completely done. People have such short attention spans! ;-)

Doesn't matter how much or how clearly he says it - people will always complain because they're too lazy to read. I've been in sales for most of my working life - people shop by pictures and prices, they don't read words. When you show them that the ad has text that explains everything they're asking you, they think you're trying to trick them.

The problem with the quest to make the world idiot-proof is that it challenges the universe to create better idiots.

PUNCTUATION, M**********. DO YOU USE IT?

Either way considering you're only using paint I'd say these are not bad. But jesus, you can't expect us to print something that blurry. Get yourself a decent image editor and do it all over. You don't necessarily need photoshop. GIMP is absolutely free and almost as powerful. Not that you're gonna need a lot of advanced features to do a simple DVD cover.

I use Paint.Net - it's another free one that's laid out very similar to Windows Paint. It may be an easier transition than GIMP.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Anything regarding ROTJ:R is just wishlists and ideas at this point. Ady probably doesn't even have a definitive list of what needs to be fixed or how. Besides, it's still possible for him to do ROTJ:R in 1080. By the time he gets to it, he may be on yet another computer upgrade to something with even more power.

First things first. Wait until ESB:R is finished and see where Ady is technologically at that point.

It was interesting to read that reply from Robert Harris.

Although this bit:

While many of us prefer the original versions, that does not control the marketplace.

The marketplace has been sold the hyped SE versions and never offered the originals since the early 1990s, so that kind of shapes the demand for those movies.

That's my logic as well. I've been in sales all my working life and I've always taken the attitude that you can't second-guess the market. Saying something won't sell because it doesn't sell now when the reason it doesn't sell now is because it's not available in the first place is the marketing equivalent of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
