The New Knight Rider
Time
It was OK. The story was decent and the Hoff cameo was cool, but I thought the car was just too "magical" rather than chock full of cool gizmos like the original.

Some people are in a helicopter and scoping for us? No problem, we'll just magically change into another kind of Mustang. Need to get to Las Vegas pronto? No problem, we'll just shoot across the country at 200mph because the cops certainly won't care. Trouble inside the casino? No problem, we'll just hack into the closed-circuit security cameras and unlock a door that can only be opened by a security card. Worried about a collision? Don't fret, because even a large SUV traveling at highway speed couldn't put a dent in this car, much less move it at the point of impact.

Lucasfilm sues Gen Con over C4
Time
Don't count on Gen Con having anything to do with the next Celebration. LFL is trying to get out of the contract they signed with Gen Con for multiple Celebrations at the LA Convention Center. By serving them this lawsuit citing that Gen Con didn't hold up their end of the deal at CIV, LFL is leveraging to get someone else to take over and run Celebrations from now on and most likely move it to another US city. I know this because I have friends who are in constant direct contact with Mary Franklin and Steve Sansweet.

My Mac Pro died on me the other day so I took it into the Apple Store to have it looked at. They managed to repair my startup disk right there at the genius bar, but I left it with them so they could test out my video issue I've been having with Windows.

And speaking of working part-time, the guy who helped me said I should apply there at the store to be a mac genius, which was pretty cool since I'm looking for a new job. I'm thinking I'll apply tomorrow and see what happens.

.: The XØ Project - Laserdisc on Steroids :. (SEE FIRST POST FOR UPDATES) (* unfinished project *)
Time
How do you split up a film into chunks and tell someone, "OK danielb, here's a copy of reel 6 from the X0 Defintive capture and the JSC capture. It's up to you to merge them into one and make sure it's worthy of the X0 Project."

This has been asked before, and the answer is, it's hard enough to coordinate what we're doing with this footage between 4 people. And the techniques we're using aren't something that just anyone can do. Hell, Laserman's really the only one who completely understands it.

And speaking of which, no we still have not heard anything from Laserman since last time we posted about him. He told us he'd be out of commission for a while so we can only assume he's still fighting to recover.

They've said that it usually takes them 4-5 weeks to make an episode from concept to delivering the final product. Barring any delays with casting or locations, I don't seen any reason they can't churn out 5-8 episodes in time for their regularly scheduled time slots.

Official: 'THE CLONE WARS' movie in Theaters 8/15/08
Time
Knowing what a fanboy that guy (Dave Filoni) is, I'm sure he decorated the entire office himself. You can see his Plo Koon mask on the right. Could that be one of the newer "making of" books?

Dave Filoni was the guy at C4 talking about Clone Wars. Seeing the trailer he showed that day, I kinda hoped in the back of my mind that I'd be able to see the show on the big screen like that. Now I can't wait to go see this.

There was an article on E's web site over the weekend that said the WGA is "99.9%" of the way to signing a new deal and ending the strike. It said that the major issues have already been resolved and an announcement could come any day. This would be awesome if true.

2007 New England Patriots - biggest chokers of all time!
Time
In their first game of the season, the Patriots were caught illegally videotaping the opposing team's coaches. The advantage they would have gained from this was to figure out what their signals meant and know what plays they were calling in future games. It was a very big deal in the media and it also came out that they had been caught doing this last season as well when they played the Green Bay Packers. Then yesterday, a Boston newspaper reported that the Patriots illegally videotaped the St. Louis Rams' final walkthrough practice the day before the 2001 Super Bowl - a game in which the Patriots narrowly defeated the heavily-favored Rams who couldn't seem to do anything offensively until the very end. While that allegation has yet to be proven, it's obvious that certain people in the media are trying to taint the legacy of the Patriots' dynasty.

All that being said, I'm just happy the Giants beat them.

2007 New England Patriots - biggest chokers of all time!

Sure, they had the highest scoring offense of all time. Sure, they had the undefeated regular season. But in Super Bowl 42, the Patriots proved they just couldn't hack it and were beaten by the New York Giants.

I just loved how Belichick walked off the field before the game was over. The feeling he must have been experiencing at that moment, I've been waiting to see that all season. This has to be the worst moment in the history of the Patriots organization.

How sweet it was to see Eli Manning drive down the field and win the game with time running out. That was one of the best endings to a Super Bowl ever. Kudos to the Giants and congratulations.

Heh, I didn't catch any of those ads for the show except for maybe the last couple seconds. I can't stand 5 minute commercial breaks so I started watching on my DVR about 20 minutes in.

Do you know this from reading all the spoiler news or is it just an educated guess?

I'm gonna have to go watch those mobisodes now. Some of that stuff sounds really cool, especially since I'm on a big Lost kick this week. I watched the entire 3rd season over the weekend.

I liked this episode. It introduced a lot of new stuff as well as brought back some old stuff, like the voices and the airplane wreckage. It also seems like the future isn't so great for the "Oceanic 6" with people after them and secrets they can't tell.

Did anyone watch that show that came on after Lost? Eli something. There was an Oceanic Airlines commercial that came on near the end telling you to go to find815.com. It's a pretty fun series of puzzles that takes you through the events of a guy who's trying to find flight 815 after Oceanic officially ceases their search. He ends up on a ship scouring a trench for the wreckage of the Black Rock - the boat we know from the island with all the dynamite.

You can use just about any mouse on a Mac. It doesn't have to be made by Apple. I use a logitech MX518 "gaming" mouse and G11 "gaming" keyboard on my Mac Pro. Technically, neither of them are supposed to work because Logitech doesn't make OSX drivers for them, but they work just fine without installing anything.

Like I said, try out the mighty mouse at the Mac score, but if you find that the more ergonomic mice made by say Microsoft or Logitech to be better then get one of those.

Be sure to try out a mighty mouse at the store before you decide you really want one. I got tired of mine after a couple weeks when my hand would get sore after using it for a long period of time. Sometimes a right click registers as a left click as well. But if those things don't bother you they're pretty cool.

The download link on that page isn't working for me. Though I did find a thread over at Doom9 with some good samples. It looks as though the sample files I tried out played OK in Media Player Classic, with a little choppiness. They played flawlessly in PowerDVD though. I'll have to check, but I'm guessing right now that either the files from my DVR are too high in bitrate for MPC to handle, or there's something actually wrong with them.
