***The "official" Screenshots feedback thread ***
Time
If anyone has the Farsight version of ANH and would be willing to make screenshots with VirtualDubMod, please PM me. The new format for the screenshots thread I'm working on will now have 36 shots from ANH. I've already got shots from the Official dvd, Dr. Gonzo, TR47, and Isomix versions. I've also got what's currently available from all the works in progress.

You guys are going to love the new format. Can't wait to get it finished and put up.

I think all of the screenshots except for the Farsight ones were done with a software DVD player. Ash did the Farsight ones in VirtualDubMod. Since he's gone at the moment and we were working together on the thread, I'm in the process of redoing all of the screenshots with VDubMod so we have a level playing field in which to compare.

You're absolutely right about my caps Moth3r. They definitely have a blue cast to them, and this will be corrected on my next set.

Expect some changes to the screenshots thread coming in the next week or so. The format is going to be redone and we will be adding the available shots from some of the new transfers on the block.

Please go to this thread. Some forum members are attempting this, but in my opinion it's going to look aweful unless they dumb down the DVD video to look like the LD. But if they do that, what's the point?

Anyway, seems like a lot's happened since the last time I checked in to the board. I'm not leaving for good, I just needed a few days to cool off. I have a new capture coming and I will post screenshots when I have time to finish it.

You are adding nothing constructive to theses forums, and in fact are sucking the life out of them.
And you aren't doing much better. This MeBeJedi vs. DanielB $h!t is getting old and frankly I'm sick of it making it's way to every single thread you two post in. MBJ, there are more tactful ways to respond to this guy's crap than to turn everything he says into a debate over racial stereotypes and what capitalism means. Quit taking all his bait and learn how to stay on topic.

I know of a few people who are going to leave these boards pretty soon if Jay doesn't put you in line soon.
Well you can add me to the list. This place just hasn't been the same lately and I'm sick of it. I'm gone for a while.

Well Zion, yes we are because you agree that your edited version can't be called original no matter how small the edits.

And when exactly were we arguing about this? The whole reason I oppose you on this issue is because you told me I have no right to make any changes at all to the films. Coming to the conclusion that I will not call my versions "originals" is called a compromise , i.e. a settlement of differences.

Zion, it seems we are on the same side here with a few minor differences. Those being that you think it is still okay to make your altered work, so long as it's labelled as so. I would say that's good enough, and you have satisfied my complaints against you. I will explain this, by again comparing it to lying:

You no longer say it is your right to lie. But you do say you will continue to lie - but you agree to tell people when you do lie. This negates the negative effect.

I don't think we're on the same side here because the whole premise of our disagreement is over whether it is right to make changes to the films. But I guess we can agree to disagree.

And that lying analogy is pretty bad and really doesn't fit the scenario. I could just as easily compare your argument to a nagging woman. But what good would that do?

Their argument crumbles anyway. MBJ and Zion both agree that 1. you can't notice the changes, and 2. they don't matter. They seem to use this argument in the sense that we should therefore accept the changes. But in doing so it raises two counter questions. 1. if you can't notice the changes, why put them there? and 2. if they don't matter than why does it matter so much to have them edited?

The simple answer, I think is capitalism and censorship. As any true american they don't want to move over for anyone. They want to have control over practically everything that effects them, even if it also effects others. They don't see the problem with this. They'll swear the changes don't matter - but what they're really saying is "what I'm doing shouldn't matter to you, because you don't tell me what to do. I do what I want to do my way whenever I want to do it". And Tikigod is right, the changes might well be comparatable to changing one stroke of a picasso painting. However isn't that in disrespect to the original work?

People wanted you to give them water. But instead you made lemonade and said "this will do, whether you like it or not".

You dissapoint me Daniel. It sounds to me like you have personal issues dealing with Americans. Contrary to your belief, we Americans are not a bunch of fat capitalists that refuse to listen to reason. Seems to me you don't know much about our culture and rely on ill-biased stereotypes to formulate your opinion. We shouldn't have to try and look past your personal feelings towards other cultures to see your points. So please, don't play that card again.

All that aside, I for one never said that you can't notice the changes, and I never said that they don't matter. If they didn't matter to me, I wouldn't even bother with them. But like MeBe and I have said numerous times, when you go through frame by frame, things become more noticable. When I view the video back at regular speed, I notice things like the giant hair on the Fox logo right before it fades out or the yellow tape on the last frame of each shot. I also notice the frames where the 1976 ILM team obviously dropped the ball and should have fixed things. When I play back MeBeJedi's fixed saber sequence, you better believe that I notice those 7 fixed frames.

I understand your argument. You oppose us making these changes because it goes against the fundamentals of preservation and alters the films into something you cannot call the "Original Trilogy". I agree with your argument. I agree that you cannot call our versions "originals" and I would be the first one to complain if you did. I am, however, not forcing you to accept anything. It is obvious that you don't agree with what we are doing and that is completely ok. No one is forcing you to watch our versions of the films.

Zion...is using original material, and newly created 2004 material that he is creating for the release; ergo it is not an original Star Wars movie.

Again, I fail to see how touching up a few frames of post-production special effects shots is grounds for calling this a completely different movie. Similarly, I fail to see how adding the wampa scene is grounds for calling 1997 ESB a completely different movie.

Lastly, I fail to see how anything after the line I quoted makes any sense at all.
