Depends on what shape the video is in. If it needs sharpening or denoising, I'll do that. Other than that I'll be doing color correction and spot removal.

For ANH, most likely I'll be doing two angles for the crawl, where one is the "A New Hope" crawl and the other is the original. Sabers will be redone also. What I'd really like to do is one of those seamless branching things where you can choose to view the film with or without my video enhancements. We'll see how that goes.

I think the problem comes in where people think I'm going insane and flame is shooting out of my eyesockets because I used a cussword. Which isn't so. I guarantee almost everyone here, in the course of their normal day, cusses at least 10 times.

Well I don't do that. No, really, I don't. But the difference is I know that's how most people are and I'm used to it. The bottom line is that Jay doesn't have a problem with it for the most part and I'm not going to do anything about it except in extreme cases.

DanielB the only reason these threads get into these off topic discussions is because of your influence. Either stick to the topic at hand or don't post at all. Stop flooding every thread you go into with your crap theories.

He's right. You guys don't need to be babysat. For the most part we have some great discussions here. At times things might get out of hand and that's where I come in. The only thing that really annoys me is when a thread gets way off topic. Let's not let that happen in here.

Bizzle brings up some great points, and I think they deserve to be addressed.

Looks to me like the original Alien DVD logo is the one to go with. I'll probably use it on my own DVD.

Skyman posted screenshots from the bonus disc of the LFL logo and the "A long time ago" here. No Fox logo though. I don't think it was on there.

Thanks!

So the starburst basically looks like it's leaving the title behind in it's wake.

I really like this idea. I'm going to try it out.

The new clip is up! (6.5MB, requires XviD codec)

Again, not the best quality clip, but it gets the job done. The sound effects might seem a little cheesy, but I'll let you guys decide that for yourselves. This is still a work in progress as well. I'm entertaining the thought of adding a ship fly-by that leaves the episode title in it's wake instead of the current wipe-in method. What do you guys think?

Wow, so much discussion here since I left for the evening. It's nice to see this place alive and kicking again for a change.

Bizz, I'd really like to hear these soundtracks you mentioned. What I plan on putting on my own discs is a 5.1 track, isolated score, commentary, and possibly a mono track. If you want to help out with any of those, I'd more than welcome your assistance. Shoot me a pm sometime.

Zion - I bet yours will look a bit SWEETER! (gotta one up em' all!)

Heh, well let's just say you run the risk of soiling your pants once you see mine.
That reminds me, I better get that new clip uploaded....

My first thought on this DVD is that whoever made these borrowed features from other bootlegs, including the Isomix score and put them together with some new menus. I'm not saying this is the case, just that it's possible. I'm sure someone like Rik would be able to determine if this is in fact an original transfer.

The screenshots site is back up. Sorry again for the downtime. My site has suddenly become ubber popular because of my Episode III image archive and I had to relocate to another web host. I've got more than twice the bandwidth of my old host, so this shouldn't happen again.

Moth3r, I'm really liking the way your page is set up. I think I'm going to redo mine to something similar. I love that Doom9 example as well. If only I could figure out how they do that zooming....

Capture Card Comparison
Time
[From my previous post...]
Well, one thing's for sure - a lot of you are putting my raw captures to shame. Those Elite players are amazing.

You're absolutely right, the bottom one looks the best of the three, even though it's MPEG2. Hauppage cards have always been some of the best available, I just never looked at them because they only do MPEG captures. The middle one looks the closest to mine, and that makes sense since my cards are the newer generation of the BT8*8's.

Zion, from what I understand there is essentially no difference between my CLD-79 and your CLD-D704. I could be wrong but I beleive the 79 is just a D704 in elite badging.

You may be right, but the difference with my 704 is that is has severe color smearing which prevented me from ever getting a good solid capture out of it. None of my screencaps were off of that machine.
